  • This is Mia, she has previously done 20 hour with me but that was over 8 months ago. She has done around 10 hours with another instructor in Exeter.
    In this lesson we wanted to cover big roundabouts around Isleworth.
    She has her driving test in around 6 weeks from when this video was filmed.
    There are various big roundabouts covered. How to position, when to signal and knowing when to enter at giveaway roundabouts.
    We also worked on how to speed up quickly on dual carriageways as well as using engine brake to slow down through the gears in a sequence.
    This video is filmed during a driving lesson. It is filmed for educational purposes.
    Throughout the video there are highlights to show how you should be driving safely.
    The highlights in GREEN are what you should be doing.
    The highlights in AMBER are hazards/Advisory faults
    The highlights in RED are serious faults in a test or when I have had to intervene and tell Mia to slow down or to stop
    I hope this video will be useful! :)

    I really appreciate how you are circling hazards when we should spot them. I’m really struggling with remembering to always remember to look well ahead and plan in time so it really helps me with that.
    Keep up the good work!

    A unique presentation.
    Amin, this is an excellent video. Clear wording, clear instructions, clear explanation and even alittle humour. Brilliant.
    Not only did you tell us what to do at a roundabout but you went beyond this, and gave us something I've never before seen on footage.
    You presented in detail, the step-by -step thinking on the approach, entry,
    and exit from a roundabout.
    You were actually talking out aloud all of your thinking in and around the roundabout so that we got a clear idea and then you seemed to be simultaneously checking that the driver was safely and correctly anticipating the action of other road users, whilst yourself remaining cool, calm and jolly. Almost as if this achievement was effortless.
    I believe you could actually give lessons to expert instructors on how to connect to a student whilst teaching them. I failed on roundabouts on my first test so I have to take my test again.
    Lessons cost on average £30 per hour?
    I would happily pay £100 per hour for the teaching I've just witnessed on your video ......... and I am NOT joking.
    Truly outstanding work Amin.

      Yes you should accelerate more than normal and change gears later when you want to speed up quicker

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  Před 3 lety +1

      Just a main to side road left turn? You will generally be looking where your going.
      If it’s left mirror check before a left turn this could be an issue if there is someone there (a bicycle)

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  Před 3 lety +1

      At T junctions you should always look RLR at least once before emerging.
      If something happens to be on the left as you emerge it will go down as a serious fault on observation.

  • @SuperAjju123
    @SuperAjju123 Před 3 lety

    On the roundabout when u r taking the exit, shouldn’t u signal first and then move across to the left instead of spiralling and then signalling?

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  Před 3 lety +4

      As the right lane goes ahead and right. you have the option of going into either the left or right just use mirrors to spiral out towards your exit and then signal
      If you signal before thou pass 2nd exit it could be confusing that you’re leaving at 2nd .
      If you stay on the right any longer, the vehicle behind would move left and think you’re taking the 4th exit.

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  Před 3 lety +2

      You can use mirrors and signal on traffic lights roundabout but on give way roundabouts the timing of the signal needs to be timed well to avoid confusion

    Hi clearview driving.. why are roads in UK made in such way to create a lot of curves especially in the intersections? It's made the same way in Australia. But in Usa the roads are quite straight.. so i am interested to know why roads are so curvy in UK.. thanks.

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey the roads just weren’t designed for the number of vehicles we have. They are making the crossroads smaller at the entrance in some junctions. I think it’s just a traffic calming measure.
      Not sure why the roads would be small and windy in Australia, there’s no much space there :s

  • @OFCOURSE20
    @OFCOURSE20 Před 2 lety

    You stated your position takes presidence over the signal.when coming off a roundabout. It's MIRROR SIGNAL MANOEUVRE because moving without informing is seriously dangerous. Can you elaborate a little on your reasoning for this please??

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  Před 2 lety +2

      Your signal doesn’t always have to be your indictor
      When turning right on a roundabout, you start in the right lane with a right signal.
      As you’re coming upto the 2nd exit but haven’t quiet passed it yet
      You have two lanes ahead of you
      You’re in the right lane but need to keep your right signal on. You would check your top and left mirror at this point and keeping your right signal on you would gradually spiral out (by this point the person that’s as in the left lane would be leaving at exit 2
      So as you’re passing exit 2 you are aiming for the left lane and only signal left as you reach this island.
      So the vehicles waiting at exit two don’t get confused with your intentions
      Hope that makes sense

    Around 28:31 is there a reason to go across the hash lines rather than going to the third lane (going straight)?

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  Před 3 lety

      As we are going 3rd exit its best to go over the broken hatched lines as the new lane forms.
      the road markings on the roundabout are for the majority of the traffic (most the traffic is going straight)
      if you go around the hatched lines and then try and change late, the vehicle behind would already be in position so you would not be able to get back into that late(makes it more dangerous)
      hope that helps :)

    @remyberry4582 Před 3 lety

    Hey I have a question. On one of your videos the other day you mentioned that on long roads you want to be in the highest gear possible for fuel efficiency. I drove down a long 30mph road on my way to work, and tend to be in 3rd gear for most of it because when I switch to 4th, the car judders slightly, like I need to switch down a gear. The juddering stops If I switch down to 3rd gear again and is smooth at 30mph. If I increase my speed to like 32mph it’s fine but then I’m over the speed limit. Should I just stay in 3rd gear? Recently passed my test and still learning the most efficient ways to drive.

    • @remyberry4582
      @remyberry4582 Před 3 lety

      Sorry, to add, my car is only 1.1 litre engine. Not sure if that changed anything

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  Před 3 lety

      Hey thank you for the question.
      If your car is compromised by switching to 4th at 30mph, then it’s better for you to be in 3rd.
      You should never break the speed limit, unless it’s absolutely necessary to avoid any potential danger.
      By the sound of it your vehicle is better with 3rd at 30. There loads of factors to consider, this may be due to the engine size and the fuel transmission.
      Hope this helps :)

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  Před 3 lety
