Yeah you put them in ice water and it causes the "egg" to seperate from the shell making it easier to peel. It also stops the cooking process like shocking veggies that you boil or steam.
Idk my experience peeling them fresh after boiling still warm is way easier in a large amount, the skin under the shell gets tough and hard to peel when the eggs cool down

Funny episode. I feel like I've tried all of these ways. Usually, I end up ripping the egg. Then I got the instant pot. Game changer. 5-5-5 method. 5 minutes cooking. 5 minutes to vent, 5 minutes in a bowl of cold water.
that last method was really cool. also the spoon one seemed to have worked pretty well. I usually hit it on the counter roll it a bit and then peel it.

Exactly, or just hold them under cold running water for a second or two. Also, don't use freshly laid eggs, give them a day or two :)
