  • Flash wings have gained increasing popularity in recent years. Mikael tied his first flash wing for Gaulfossen back in the early 80’s. This new design is elevated by a stiff underwing that effectively holds the flash away from the hook. The innovative SSS Flash blend, combined with the new Glitz Dubbing Brush, makes tying exceptionally easy. To add motion, ostrich hackles are tied in front of the wing, resulting in a highly flashy fly with the perfect drop form. Designed for early-season fishing with heavy lines, this super-light BTT fly gracefully dances in the slow currents of deep pools. Meanwhile, the heavier TTT version cuts through the surface, adding speed to reach greater depths.

Good that you are covering this recently fashioned patterns as well. I tied and fished the flash wings last year quite a bit and tried to convert some of the famous classics to flash wings. I must say among all those classics, Pahtakorva turned an amazing fly and effective. My experience is that the bucktail is the ''must-have-material'' for these flashwings. It really forms the fly and hold it as designed. Would be nice to cover Pahtakorva flashwing especially with a few strands of the black charcoal flash on top. Thanks for the video - Majid

It would be fun if you could make a short video in the beginning of each episode where you show how the fly swims.

Again a pleasure to watch plus an inspiration of the own flytying! Thank you so much for that. On the otherside, it‘s a bit nerve wracking to get inspired by Michael‘s tying ideas, but the mentioned products Flashwing Flash and the stiff Antron underlayer is not ready available to buy, except in the packs and in colors II do not looking for. Why do you show tying receipts short before Salmon Season start without having the materials ready available, so we can buy and use it?
    Tight-lines, Steve

Hi Steve, well maybe i shouldn't but in a way its like letting you guys be part of the development of new tying stuff. Sure it would be more commercial to let out things when the film appears but I think more fun to share the process how things actually come up.
I can tell you that the SSS Flash Wing Flash is in boxes on the way to us and be out in a news letter shortly!

    Nice fly👍
A question for Micke: how this fly keeps tail in upright position? Body is loose in back of btt on leader. I think it is going to be in whatever position and harms the swimming of the fly not being in right position.🤔 Am I wrong?🫡

Well - the toughts are right but I think its a small problem. maybe because the loose body goes into the BTT/TTT and is effected by the turbulence the current creates. One thing - the shorter body the better and on BTT - the lighterthe hook the better!
