    I love my Epiphone guitars. The problem that no one ever acknowledges about them is that more often than not, they show up with really lousy frets. Sharp fret ends, high or low frets in the high area of the neck are a consistent issue, and in some cases, even totally unpolished frets. These days, for the money they charge, they should do better. I have 4 or 5 Epi LPs, a Dot, a Sheraton II, an SG, and a Casino. Every one of them was purchased brand new except the DOT. Every one of them had the same issues, fret problems. This is a problem, a BIG problem.

      Thanks for the feedback! Bad frets have been an issue with Squier as well in my experience. I wonder how much of the issue lies in the fact that these guitars are shipped in a dry cardboard box that sits in a cargo container than in a warehouse or a dealer's backroom...sometimes for months or years. The fretboards are always super dry.

      @@SapulpaGuitarAcademy yeah, I agree. A dry finger board is a simple fix. Frets otoh, what a huge pita. Lol, cheers

    I have the newest Wilshire in ebony.
    It's a great guitar, and I'm partial to P90's anyway.
    I've not made any changes to the Wilshire, didn't see the need in it.
    It came with CTS pots. Switch has given me no issues either.
    I also have the older Wilshire from around 2010, in Arctic White, 2-hb, bat-wing
    headstock, it's a killer guitar too, but I've done mods to it, pups/Grover tuners/new bridge/CTS pots.
    They'll hang with my Gibson LP/DC..this one has the single P90.

    Great video! However, Guitar Center is known for selling factory seconds, so keep that in mind. After buying 3 guitars there and all having issues down the road, I stopped buying there. Guitar Center isn't the best gauge to review guitars - just the quickest and easiest lol. I tell people all the time that if you have the chance, go thru a private store or a seller you trust.

      Thanks for the feedback! The guitars at Guitar Center have definitely been played, that's for sure. The new ones they pull out from the back don't really get much of a setup either, not that I would trust one of their employees to set up my guitar well.

      That's for sure!! It's usually a noisy mess in there, and that's another reason I stay away. If you're a buyer, it's hard to try anything without competing with the wanna-bees who just want to mess up GC's stuff for free. They just HAVE to crank up amps and make nothing but noise.
      No, thank you.

    The Firebird is basically the only other Epiphone/Gibson model guitar I might want to own besides a Les Paul but the LP really all I need

      Funny enough, I had some O.G. small pots on an early 90s Fender Japan stratocaster. Thought about changing them, but they were nice and smooth after years of play so I kept them. Thanks for watching!

    The guitar center workers are great it's not them management could absolutely inspect what they sell like sweetwater will do seems like a no brainier

  • @jessehutchings
    @jessehutchings Před 3 měsíci +1

    I don't understand the veneer thing at all. Like, why not just show what the guitar really is? I'm sure showing the cut lines and the wood that they actually used would be perfectly fine. People might even prefer it

    Tulsa guitar center sucks rudd owner took 45min to find advertised guitar then carry it out no box no warranty information or paperwork new my ass then they send my Ibanez with a severely crooked pot found it's washer in the cavity Ibanez and guitar center are ruining their business

    • @SapulpaGuitarAcademy
      @SapulpaGuitarAcademy  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yeah, Guitar Center could use a Sweetwater style 55 pt inspection or just any sort of inspection in their case. They have really turned into the Walmart of music stores. Thanks for watching!
