Thanks so much for posting this….I already had two of these solar fountains and they have been great but had started losing pump power. I had no idea you could dismantle this way for cleaning, I’ve followed your instructions this morning and they are as good as new. Thanks!
i bought this pump and it works fabulous, i bought 2 for $15 and it was dirt cheap was amazed at how good it worked it worked all summer long!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!
@@mceithdavis3462 i don't have that link anymore sorry but it's been 2 years now and it still works. you just have to make sure it doesnt get clogged with twigs , leaves , etc.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I Just got one of these & the instructions said NOTHING about removing the film. I didnt know there was a film! The nozzle you like best is my favorite also! Thank you SO MUCH FOR SHARING!
I have this same fountain and my favorite tip is to just use the funnel piece on its own. That way it just bubbles up and doesn’t spray too high or wide. I have a very small foundation dish and also live in a very windy area so using just the funnel attachment alone allows the unit to be used with a smaller fountain footprint
I agree with everyone this was very helpful I like the fact that it turns off by itself when it’s night or when there’s not enough water. Can you please list this in the description box I would love to buy it. Thank you so much for sharing
@@juniorsir9521 Wrong on 2 counts. Mosquitos like stagnant, warm water. People who own birdbaths know to keep the water fresh daily, the bowl clean and this little pump will keep the water from being stagnant.
@@juniorsir9521 Totally agree with the other commenter that you are wrong, I made my bird bath out of a vinyl/plastic hot water heater basin. I have one of these floating fountains in there with some rocks to keep it in the middle. I live in a semi wooded area with tons of mosquitoes and I have never had a problem with mosquitoes breeding in my bird bath and the birds love it.
These panels look way better than then other models. It also seems nicely oversized to ensure operations in sub optimal light. 3W max vs. 1W motor seems smart.
A very helpful and skillful video. It helped me a lot to understand, the printed guide coming with the product being so faulty, especially when it comes to the cleaning part, I wouldn't have had the idea of pulling off the pump or dare doing it ! Be thanked for it !
May I ask how long you've had them? Unfortunately, many people (maybe most!) post reviews very soon after they've gotten an item, only to have it stop working a month or so down the road. (I know even I have done that.)
Mine is still going strong. I have started to use an enzyme solution made to safely keep bird baths cleaner. I'm hoping it will reduce the amount of cleaning needed..
We have one similar, but it empties the water from bird bath after a very short while, ok our bird bath isn’t huge. So if using it in a bird bath keep an eye on the water as it will ruin the pump if left to run an almost empty bird bath. I was constantly filling the bath. Now it is in a large planter filled with water.
The same pump as used on a pet water dispenser. Looks like a great little fountain, I'm impressed it works instantly in the sunlight and you don't have to wait for the batteries to charge.
I've had one for about 5 years now; thought it was DEAD, but with a little cleaning, found it to work. But still got another one to create a different spray pattern for hummingbirds.
Yes. The key to the device longevity is cleaning. I rinse out my bird bath everyday with a spray hose. Once a week, I add a little bleach, scrub it, rinse, and refill.
Mine works great. Nice the sun shadows it late afternoon giving it a rest. Next day works again. Finer spray caused the breeze to spray all the water out. The lowest bubbly works best for me. Lots of birds now. Clean with clean water only and add water every morning
That was actually very helpful thank you I couldn’t decide which type to buy after buying one that said it could be used for ponds, aquariums or fountains but it was only about an inch across and the stem was only about 2 inches tall and the water line minimum and maximum was about a half an inch apart which means if the water level drops or raises for obvious reasons. It stops working so I returned it to buy this one.
I didn't realize that some solar fountains don't come with a filter. When I order more I will make sure it has a filter (a small sponge) which is so much easier to clean than taking apart the whole mechanism. I like that you used stones to keep it from floating around, I'm going to use that idea.
Yes. Same here. Once a week, I add a little bit of bleach, let it sit for about 10 min, scrub bird bath with old brush, thoroughly rinse and refill it.
Ha, i have that exact solar fountain and bird bath. I got the bird bath at Home Depot and got 20 percent off, it had a small chip on the bottom. I had to set the fountain to the lowest setting because the wind made the water spray out of the fountain and I would run out of water everyday. Yes i used the stones to keep it from floating around!

Bought this for my garden to have a small makeshift pond, I just got it tonight but I was hoping I could have got it earlier today before the sun went down, but I'll find out tomorrow if mine works!
Keep in mind that is very important to keep it clean to prolong the life of the solar pump. I rinse my bird bath out with high pressure hose everyday. Once a week, I clean it with bleach and fill it back up.
Thank you so much for the demo. Very helpful. Can you tell me how to store it over winter please. My garden gets frosted and icy, and i'm sure it wouldn't survive that. Thank you.
I don't have any experience with that since I live in a deep south. It's pretty much warm here all year. I would probably clean it up real good and bring it in.
This was very helpful. I couldn't figure out how and what each piece was for. Are we supposed to remove the plastic on the disc? I have a round dense 1/4" foam piece with a hole in the center. It would seem to fit in the underside but you can't remove 1 of the boxes, which I am guessing is part of the solar aspect? Well done!
I have this in mind, but wonder I'd I can like rig a tube to it instead of the fittings it comes with. The water on the fountain we have is supposed to get pumped through a statue and shoot down into the basin. Basically it's a dolphin spitting water back into the pool. Is this thing strong enough for that? Could I get a tube attached to it?
You could probably read something. When I bought this, it had the most powerful motor/battery combo of all the ones on amazon. You may want to look and see if it if that's still the case.

To fix it to the bottom of the bird bath you need he water to be removed and dry first then add water afterwards.

I actually have two of these (front and back yards). As long as the sun is shining they work great.
So this thing is ready to put in water when you get it, it just needs to be cleaned every little bit
You can make the holes on the disks bigger with a Soldering iron so the water doesn’t spray so high.
