    Sonny seems so kind, patient, and thorough with his answers and doesn't dismiss the kid in any way. It made me cringe a little bit when "jazz video guy" barked at him to finish his question and then rolled his eyes and shook his head. Seems we can all learn something from the legend that Sonny Rollins is.

      Yeah man he came off looking like a judgmental uptight snob. This kid is young, genuine and asking for advice from Sonny. That's a cool thing.

    • @Sasketchejuana_man
      @Sasketchejuana_man Před 5 lety +15

      Yea and he was getting feedback. Was no reason for him to roll his eyes and be dismissive and rush his question.

      I notice the eye roll as well, Sonnys the chillest cat of them all, that guy really came off like a jerk with the facial reactions. people...

      I thought I was the only one that caught that. As a kid, I was very, very sensitive and that would've made me crawl back into my mental 'cave' for a while. Not cool. My late uncle knew him, and might've played with a couple of times. I remember once inquiring about Sonny, my uncle abruptly blurted out, " Oh...that's a beautiful, brother! Very, very kind."

      @theccpisaparasite8813 Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, thanks for point that out. That's what it is to pass on the knowledge to the next generation. If the "video guy" paid attention he'd have understood that Sonny was exactly where that kid was when he was young. The kid was obviously nervous, for goodness sake, Sonny is one of the top five sax players ever. How would you like to be a teenager and get to speak with a legend like that!

      If only the people in the comments section were real people (more than one person), but it seems that right has been taken from me. You won't know the last of it, I'm going to shock the shit out of you through the internet and this sudden scare will feel like a mental punch in the face, don't believe me, well then it will really shock you and this will bring you back to the reality of what you're doing, that it is completely thoughtless.

    I love the Sonny Rollins' wisdom. Great video, but he never said how he practices! Never answered the question. So what does he do, cop licks and play them over and over at home? Play scales, tunes, what? One thing that is hard to know is how to practice!
