Today on the show, we have Col. Rajeev Bharwan, an accomplished, professionally trained & result-oriented Indian Army Colonel with 21 Years of progressive higher leadership & management skills while commanding the elite Infantry/ Strategic Specialized Airborne Regiment.
In this fantastic episode, we spoke about the vast on-hand experience of Col. Rajeev in Counter Terrorism, in combat zones in Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, and Jammu & Kashmir. One of my favourite podcasts of the year. In an age where American Marines and their British equivalents are celebrated worldwide, it is crucial that Indians get to know about our Commandos as well.
This video (and the podcast that it is derived from) aim to spread the word about the incredible Indian Special Forces.
Thank you to all our brave soldiers, for their contribution to India! Jai Hind!!!

Of course, for someone who wants to join the army, Money shouldn't be an issue. Years ago when my family wanted me to join the army telling me all the benefits it had, I didn't because of the same reasons. If I don't feel passionate about it, money and other things shouldn't be a factor. The same logic applies for all the civil services jobs as well. You should be passionate to serve the nation if you want to be an IAS not because it will get you a lot of respect. Unfortunately, most people in India don't think like that and that's a problem.
But letting people know the actual figures also helps in filtering out some people who're not meant to be in the army. If someone wants to not join because 21k is way less than 47k, that's good for the army, that person wouldn't have survived anyways in the army.
      It's a win-win, there's nothing wrong with statistics.

What Colonel Rajeev fails to acknowledge is that men join professions with risk to life and limb, is because men have the burden of performance. Earning money and attaining some kind of status is mandatory for all men. Also, a component of military life is constant training, which agniveers will not do, in 4 years of service. Also, when people know that they will be out of a job in 4 years, they will not be motivated to perform at the same level. Regimentation was introduced by the British in the army for a specific purpose. When men know that they are going to serve and perform with men in the same social and work environment with other men, their behaviour changes dramatically. Agniveer is a basically flawed scheme, which is bound to have bad consequences.

@@ankitchandra3704 See, it's not about bjp or any other political BS. This scheme's main motive was to develop a sense of nationality amongst the citizens of our country, which is totally void in most cases. The education system fails to deliver here, as the graduates of the Agniveer Yojna won't have adequate skills to compete in the civil market. We should take this scheme positively, and the required amendments should be made accordingly. And first of all, the person applying for this scheme will jolly well know the repercussions that will follow. The person applying for this role will be joining the military out of patriotism and not for the benefits of salary and pension. And we should learn something from Korea and Israel, where both the opposition and the government support initiatives that deal with a nation's security and development rather than forcefully criticising everything.

Only an officer can deny the opinion "why this is not for officers " . The biggest problem with agniveer was neither pension nor anything but the problem is that they just outrightly cancelled previous exams & recruitments for which they were assuring so many young candidates for more than one year that their results will come. Let me tell everyone that in many of these recruitments every test was done only final merit list was to be released. Now just imagine how painful it would be for those candidates who were waiting for their call letter and results and they were promised by even Rajnath singh that their results will come. But as always there was a surprise for them from our respected PM . The biggest misfortune is that now nobody even talking about that point. Even highcourt is disappointing us

With all due respect to him, but not everyone joins army because of passion.
A majority of people joins army for financial reasons.
Most (not all) of the army recruitment happens from village and suburban areas.
Secondly, it is injustice for the boys who were just waiting for their appointment letter after clearing all the written and physical exams.
Already paramilitary forces (BSF, CRPF, CISF) doesn't have pension scheme from 2004 onwards. Till now Army had pension scheme, now with agniveer "Pension" in Army is also targeted.
But all out Ministers enjoy pension (some time double and triple pension).
Jobs in Military or Paramilitary takes a lot of personal sacrifice and jawans go through immense pressure in lower ranks. But if government is not having the back of jawans, then it will become optional chose for many. And they will always search for better job opportunities. Because most of the soldiers have a family to take care.

It's unfortunate that most of our MPs and MLAs misuse their position, but in reality, they are doing a very important job. Of course, cutting their pensions will help save some money, but that doesn't mean we continue hiring more and more soldiers. We don't need those many. What we need is a limited number of soldiers with advanced weaponry, and that's not possible unless we cut down on the size.
