- Dr. Kurtz (Distinguished Professor of Medicine at UCLA) is working with US Kidney Research Corporation to develop a portable and ultimately implantable artificial kidney. The technology developed by the team is unique since there is no need for dialysis or purified water. For their new prototype device they won the prestigious KidneyX prize in 2021.
Very impressive work Dr. Kurtz to advance care of kidney failure patients. This is needed understanding the critical organ shortage from deceased and living donors.
Thank you for your work Dr Kurtz.
Im in ESRD.. and I would love to give this my all
WHEN IS IT GOING TO BE AVAILEBLE FOR IMPLANT?
You said it should be ready in 2 years. Well that was 2 years ago! When will this actually be available to patients?! When it’s already too late and we’re all dead?! That’s going to do a lot of good! Get this up, running and passed by the fda asap, please! Thank you for your work, though. We are waiting and hoping this becomes reality soon!

@Padraigp No. But they need to stop giving billions of dollars to the stupid wars and help the medical sciences to develop new cures.
They do not want because Medecine = Business, Doctors = Businessman, We = Victims.

If made implantable then in that scenario what about the anti-rejection medications?
You don't reject metal objects just other peoples dna like a kidney transplant. But they can already grow a kidney from your stem cells. Just you can't afford that.
