    Loved your video! I’d also like to mention (being an owner of this powercap for over two years now) for people that wear glasses, this has been the only solution for me to not slice my finger on something because I couldn’t see while my glasses fogged up. I’ve tried so many different masks that either would hurt while wearing glasses because they wouldn’t fit right or just not create a good seal and fog. This helmet (my lady likes to call it my space boy helmet lol) completely fixes that issue. Also, if you work in a warm shop, the breeze across your face is REALLY nice. It’s so comfortable I find myself wearing it and leaving it on for a good part of the day while in the shop. It’s not a pain to put on and take off like a mask so I actually use it more often. Even for quick cuts I’ll put it on, not like before when I just had masks. The only gripe I guess I have is that I wish the motor/fan noise was a little quieter but my fix is to put in my isotunes 😉
    Thanks for bringing this to more peoples attention. I don’t understand why more people aren’t talking about this. I know it took me a month or two to even track down who made this when I first saw it. 👍🏼

    Should probably do that flicking to clear the filters outdoors otherwise you’ll risk breathing in the dust or contaminating inside the mask or filter.

    That was very informative. I’ve looked at several powered respirators in the past. A similar design still on the market is too heavy and doesn’t allow for hearing protection. Another, no longer available, had the motor and filters on a belt over ones butt. The connecting hose was cumbersome. The positioning of the rest of it could be dangerous, especially at my age. This looks like the best option. Thanks for the video.

    I'm a weekend woodworker, so $500 is a lot of scratch for a dust mask.
    That said, I also use a SawStop saw to ensure I don't lose a finger at the table saw, so maybe $500 to keep my lungs unclogged isn't quite so bad. And as a proud owner/wearer of a bit of bushy chin scruff, I like that they won't interfere with each other!
    Interesting to see that you clean your shop the same way I clean mine. Open the doors and windows and grab the leaf blower!!!

    • @jamescarter8813
      @jamescarter8813 Před rokem +1

      @@POLPO_WOOD actually no, with a respirator you get positive air flow that is filtered air. If a mask has even the slightest gap you can be breathing unfiltered air. I have a beard and there is no mask that seals around the face with a beard. As a full-time Woodturner keeping my lungs safe is important. Being that the respirator is powered and blowing air across my face I wear it longer so the air in my shop gets scrubbed by the other filters before I take it off for the day.

    I've recently picked up one of these and it's changed my working life considerably.
    I'm a subby carpenter for a larger contractor in the UK. (basically we have to buy all our own shit) For the last 5 years I've been working with Marley Eternite and James Hardey fibourous cement Cladding. Some of the nastiest stuff currently in the industry and I almost exclusively use rotatory tool on it. I also have facial hair and due to historic wounds I refuse to shave. My beard is already just long enough to cover my wounds. And to add further challenge to PPE I wear glasses, and have partial hearing.
    No matter the product anything the had any one of the following was an instant no, require a perfect seal around the face, required removing my glasses, or have my no choice in ear defence or completely removed my ability to hear the outside world and past but not least required me to remove my hard hat to wear the product.
    This thing negates all of the above and it's literally the perfect solution for any problem you've ever had with masks, eye pro, fogging, discomfort, lack of head protection. I've never loved a product so much. Never again will I have pressure point induced headaches, or be picking silica boogers out my nose on the drive home.

    Not to tell you how to suck eggs but the fence position you had on your saw when ripping cuts is dangerous as hell, it should be pulled right back so not to trap the cut pieces between the saw blade and the fence ( unless you’re using a push stick ) you will be sorry it a piece comes flying out the back of your saw and hits you or someone else. Safety first my friend.

Does the almost the same job for less than a quarter of the price. Hopefully the price will come down big time after supply chain issues for away but companies are inflating their prices because they can. Not because they need to
