Finally, Victor Campenaerts is our man 😂
Loved that comment. Campenaerts went from "my man" to "our man." 😂
Huzzah!
He is a man of the people now!
he is one of us, chesterfieldians!!!
Campin’ knots !
I had both the TdFF and the Vuelta running on a split screen, but the latter was a sideshow. The culminating Queen stage of the TdFF finishing on the Alpe d'Huez was just magnificent.
I agree that the TdFF was super exciting. Strategies, efforts and emotions of a different magnitude compared to Vuelta.
Hi Chris, José Azevedo was commenting the stage in Portuguese eurosport, he mentioned about the American victories in Vuelta and he said that he will never forget as sport director your victory in 2013. Cheers.
Also when the road transmission started it was in my home town . Also the home town of Joaquim Agostinho probably the greatest Portugal cycling rider.
José Azevedo é grande ,💯
Never thought of having my hometown on the Chris show (first images are from Torres Vedras). A lot of people here on the roads of Portugal supporting the riders 🦋👊
🦋👊🇵🇹
@@ChrisHornerCyclingthanks Chris and I only knew now you had been a involved in an accident, u seem fine 👍, but stay safe and quick as allways. U are the best doin this....
If you didn’t watch the TDFF you missed one for the ages today!
I'm expecting a looong analysis, @ChrisHornerCycling
It was nail biting
Absolutely, I switched from the Vuelta to the women’s Tour de France,it was an awesome race!
Oh yes. It was very entertaining. 😱🦋🇫🇷🔥💥
Arrow graphic game is especially strong up there on the Vuelta 2024 stage two edition of The Butterfly Effect.
Garrett working hard. 👊🦋
It feels like there's little bit of a curse on Visma this year.
I agree..nothing but bad luck this year. They better try and get rid of the bad juju.
Yep. Last season has to be paid for. 🧙😱🦋
Which is why Pog should have hit while the iron was hot....
These things swing in roundabouts, but they were never going to win the Vuelta, unless Jonas went.
you gotta cover the final stage of the TdFF amazing stage
Cant agree more that was special
Agree. If Demi Vollering had gotten even a little help after her crash, the time she gained today would have been enough to win overall.
@@jonengelberth Her teammates attacked her instead...
@@dengar1313dude she was sprinting for 8th or so. She can’t possibly wait for something yellow 🙃
And the strange strategy of Trek. I would like to listen your take into that last stage up to Alpe..
Excellent analysis. Thanks Chris.
Can you also please analyse the TdF Femme last stage up Alpe d’Huez? Would love to see that.
Thanks Chris, great review
The mistake WVA made was that he should have been stuck on the wheel of Groves and only gone when Kaden went. As it went WVA lthen ed Groves out for 50m who said thanks very much see you in the ducha.
Wearing red tomorrow is no benefit to VLB.
T
hat crash that took out Tarling was due in part due to the earlier crash that forced him to the far left and partly due to appalling road safety from the organisers.
Right up to the crash point there was no ditch and kerb and the road surface was wider plus the surface flat all the way to the outer fencing then it suddenly narrowed by a meter and a ditch plus kerb appeared.
That danger should have been marked much more clearly by a brightly colored pole just before.the narrowing
That was a big ditch and curb. 😱🦋
I am a fan of Dylan Van Baarle because I love his versatility. I honestly thought Visma signed him because of his strength in the classics. However, on this Vuelta team, Van Baarle will be very much missed. Kruijswijk is not young. And Visma needs to find at least one and probably two climbing domestiques. BTW, a shout out to the happy domestique, Robert Gesink who will be retiring at the end of this season.
Exactly. DVB has been super at most of the races he does. 👊🦋
Visma allready signed Simon Yates for the same role as his brother Adam plays at UAE.
Looking fwd to the Tour de France Femmes analysis today! :)
Here! Here!!!
Fantastic race!
I’m going to have to find sometime later to talk about that one. 🤔🦋
Absolutely epic stage!!
@@ChrisHornerCyclingI can't wait! Strategies, efforts and emotions maxed out!
Maaaan, that crash with narvaez and tarling was a nasty one, at least Roglic still not down 🤣🤣🤣
thanks chris and garrett, finest coverage as always
😱🦋👊
We were there in Ourém at the finish line. First visit to a grand tour, and it was super!
Supporting all 3 Portuguese 🇵🇹 riders, and Louis Meintjes 🇿🇦
The same here. Foi amazing
Victor C. Is a Rockstar to us on the Chris Horner podcast. He is the man. I can't wait until we get to see what kinda fourm Sepp has in the mtns aginst Prizmo.
Our man 👊🦋
I sure agree with shakmaker below. Wow! The TfF femmes was an amazing race. Ms. Vollering is amazing in defeat by 4 seconds. Go Sepp, Jim from near Durango.
Yes!!
Yep. I so wanted to be covering that race this morning also. 🥲🔥🇫🇷👊🦋
Victor is "our man" no question!! 🤗
Chris, did you watch the right peacock channel. While TdeF femme provided one of the most exciting race in decades, the guys at the Vuelta were doing a club ride in Portugal showing how to properly relief yourself at 35km/hr. Loads of strategy to talk about on Alpes d’Huez… less to say about Vuelta today.
Eh, not a ton of strategy...but definitely some awesome athletic performances and nail-biting suspense.
That’s one hell of a gutter!
I hope NBC re-hires you for the 2025 cycling season!
Probably no chance of that happening. But thanks for wishing it to. 🙏 🦋👍
Another excellent video Chris
Thanks Chris. 👍
My man WVA in red! 👌👊👍
Chris I gotta hear your thoughts on Vollering today!
Always a good analysis from Chris. It's so early anything can happen but that's a big loss.
So Chris, you got me wondering. When Victor gets out in front, do you stay seated on the Chesterfield or do you jump up and down on it? 😀
good on ya Wout!
I need some new lights for my bike but how in the hell can a bike light cost more than the light cluster for my car?
I told you they are amazing. 🦋👊
Lupine are amazing!
What if Sepp just rides for Wout? Crazy powerful duo.
Then Wout can finish 10th instead of 15th or 30th.
First off we got to see how good Roglic is or wait to see if he crashes. Right now if Roglic is 100% then everyone is racing for second. But we all know Roglic may crash. 😱🦋
@@ChrisHornerCyclingHonestly he looks fat to me. He looks at least 3-4 kilos heavier than he should be,tomorrow will be the indicator where all of them are.
Wout has zero chances in the mountains against Roglic, Almeida, Yates and the likes.
Dude is a 1.90m 80+ kilos powerhouse- never was and never will be a GC contender
@@ChrisHornerCycling If Roglic doesn't crash, is he really racing? lol
Hey Chris, Can you get a message to Aleksandr Vlasov? His lackadaisical disposal of his water bottles with 78.1 kilometers to go in Stage 3 almost crashed out the peloton as the water bottle rolled right back into the path of the peloton - what a loser!
Chris, you know there was another bike race yesterday in which race tactics played a role.
Seppy had a dream team last year and this years team isn't even close. No gifts for Seppy this year.
There was no gift last year.
@@stevenmeyer9674 Not just a gift but it was gift wrapped with all the trimmings !! anyone who thinks it wasn't is living in lala land.
@@tomsmith1059 Was Hinault's win in 85 a gift?
@@stevenmeyer9674 Sorry mate never watched Hinault's win to comment on it. Maybe you can tell us.
@@tomsmith1059 LeMond was co leader with Hinault. The team agreement was if Hinault faltered Greg was free to go. It was the final week of the tour I believe stage 19. Hinault was in yellow but was struggling. He cracked and LeMond had built an almost five minute lead. Their team car came along side Greg and the DS lied to him, saying Hinault was only a minute behind and ordered Greg to wait. Everyone in that tour said that Lemond was the absolute best rider and was deceived out of the win by his own team.
Just SAD PoGi didn’t take your advice and go for the Triple 👑.
🥲🦋
He will go for the triple crown at the Worlds.
The Triple Crown does not include The Vuelta
@@tonyg3091 The World's is NOT a grande tour. The point that the TRIPLE includes Giro, TDF and World's is a journalist error.
@@savagepro9060 It isn't, It is just historically the Vuelta did not have the same significance as the Giro and the Tour, so the Triple Crown means Giro, Tour, Worlds.
But yeah, I know what you mean, winning the 3 GTs would be something no one ever did in the history. I very much wanted to see Pog there. Perhaps some other time.
@@tonyg3091 Ah, dang! Thanks for the historical perspectives. That would've never crossed my mind. When you think you know it all However, I think that should be changed. The triple should be the 3 Grand Tours . . . and if you're lucky or bad-ass enough, include the world's!👍
I tweeted at SDWorx that in your words, they were knuckleheads for costing Vollering the TDF Femmes. But yes...I think it would be super interesting to see if you think Demi should have still won if they switched up their tactics today, including Demi not waiting in the valley.
They should just change 2nd place to be called WVA place
The curse of Wout during 2024. 😱🦋👍
Hehe…not anymore 😂
Last year everything lined up for Visma, this year not so much. Wout and Jonas had heavy crashes and Sepp got sick for a long period and now Van Barlee broke his collar bone.
Sepp is going nowhere this year, they will not let him get big time in a break away this year and he will just go backwards as the race progresses....
Well he went backwards to get bottles…..
Hope he has recovered and is 100%🤞🦋
@@ChrisHornerCyclingAppreciate your kind comments throughout the past several years of videos and written replies. Nice people are the best ❤
Sepp Kuss seems to be more comfortable in a supporting role and alongside Uijtdebroeks he'll be fine , as single leader he won't make it.
It's crazy that a 120mi course with over 9k ft of climbing is a sprinter's stage.
(Van "Baarl", not barley! 👍🏼) Thanks for the breakdown; love the Butterfly Effect!
‘Van Baarler’. The E at the end is not silent. The prononciation is somewhere between an ‘er’ and an ‘uh’.
Slow starters here but watching of course... Hi Chris! 👋🦋👊
🧸👊🦋
victor was happy
my man victor campenaerts
he would hear chris say 😀
Really generous of Affini and WvA to lead out Kaden Groves, _seeing as Alpecin didn't have enough guys to go from 1.4k on in._ 🤔
Perhaps you ought to analyze the tactics by sdwx in this year's tdff was definitely the difference...not sure how much you watched.
Kasia almost fixed it for them by eating and drinking too late.
I did on Friday. Today’s race was ridiculously entertaining and certainly needs some coaching. 🤪🦋👊🔥🇫🇷
Women's Tour de France was so much interesting 😊
cian is stated to be co leader but can transform to domestique if sepp kuss takes the red in the mountains.
I still say watch out for McNulty. I have a feeling La Vuelta could be a wild finish to this year's grand tours.
Don’t know why the team leader is going back for bidons?
"Bonufication" is my new favorite cycling term.
I love to watch Wout, but I always feel sorry for Visma's GC rider. Wout pulls too many resources from the team in order to win. Jonas and now Sepp have a hard time when team support is elsewhere.
Staying with your GC rider seems like a sound tactic that Visma ignores.
Just sayin!
Thanks again Chris.
I guess, V-LAB lost their unlucky charm. Since Primoz left V-LAB, their riders has been crashing left and right (which is quite unusual for V-LAB). I guess The lady crash luck now landed on Van Barle. The guy has been crashing since the beginning of year. He hasn't had a chance to stay upright. Poor that guy.
Let's be fair his win last year was a gift by visma , they had Vingegaard and Roglic working for him , he is a decent rider but in normal circumstances he'd never win a grand tour
Sepp is not in the same class as Pogacar, Vingegaard, Evenepoel and Roglic but after that he can ride with the likes of Almeida, Ayuso, Landa, Yates etc. He hasn’t really shown the form in 2024 that he had in 2023. Perhaps there’s some long COVID going on. However, if Roglic were to crash out I could see Sepp being competitive in the GC this Vuelta.
he is an American
Off his form this year. It was not a gift.
If he had long COVID he wouldn’t have wine Burgos and he wouldn’t even have started the Vuelta. Obviously his form is pretty good coming into this race, and what he does in a short, flat TT and a sprint stage is basically irrelevant.
Demi Vollering was not helped because she was going to leave the team as announced earlier this year and there is a rift in the team, hence she was attacked and no one helped her when she fell...
It’s criminal how you didn’t cover the Tour de France Femmes. Contender for best finish to a TDF.
Any reason why WVA is on the green jersey and not Vacek who is on 2nd place I think?
Because Vacek was the white jersey leader, I guess.
Think Visma don't need to chase the breaks now. Groves beating Wout 2-0 is quite enough.
Crowds yesterday getting involved with crashes. Not sure if Tourists know how to watch a bike race or not?? On usual busy stages the crowds seem to be a bit more educated unless there's beer involved 🙈🍻🍻🍻🍻
Tarling not dropping back after 4km and being too involved with the bumping of the Sprinters. It was narrow so hard to pull out of the line I guess. Hope he's OK 🤕
3 Crashes, but Roglic did not hit the deck? Amazing 😅
My man better hold on.
@@aneldemeyer2568 yes!!!

So far I'm not too excited about the vuelta. To top it off people don't respect cyclist and they were about to make a huge fuss
I'm Chris Horner and 'you're not' . . . ah ha ha ha.
Just curious, did you go around saying Joe-han Brew-why-kneeeeel?
Nope. But I did hear said many times while the team was in the US. 😜🦋👊
Visma LOSE-a-bike AGAIN!🥺 Can't see Sepp or Wout winning this year~😏
Why is it assumed and why does Visma choose to do the work? I don't get it, why not sit in and wait it out?
That’s always an option. Then maybe more teams will help out. But today only needed one Gesink for most of the stage and you would always have to put one rider in the working training anyways. 🤔🦋👊
Bonefication
What about the coverage of tdff stage 8 final? It will be much more interesting then second stage of Vuelta B team race! cmon, don't let your male ego get in the way of race reporting
what sep kuss did with roglic and vingegard is going to happen to him by wout.
Wout gc
Rumor has it, Sepp Kuss is still unboxing his Vuelta Gift from 2023!
@@gerthenriksen8818 exactly, no gifts this year. I agree!
I wasn't expecting a mundane stage of the Vuelta to be the most comment worthy cycling event going on yesterday.
He wouldn’t be winning anyways even if all his team mates are healthy.
There’s still 2,3,4,5…..10. Or even maybe DVB would win a stage which helps the team motivation. 🤔👊🦋
Visma Lease a Bike can’t buy a break in 2024. A little karmic payback for 2023’s good fortune?
Exactly. Pay back time for all that good luck. 😱🦋🧙
Chris, Did you notice Sepp going back to the team car to pick up bidons in the middle of the stage? Was his poor performance in the prologue enough to remove him from protected co-leader role already?
Tf is a bonification lmao
🤪 sometimes it just comes out the way it comes out. To many things in the head at once. 😂🦋👊
Insane to think this is Visma's first Grand Tour leader's jersey of the year & it's not even on a GC guy.
No worries, i never believed in Kuss defending his vuelta win anyways. He ain't ever getting 'free time' again like he did last year.
Kuss never had a chance of defending the title he was given last year
Lol 😂 Sepp Kuss...ha ha ha. Jumbo went from winning 3 GT last year to zero? this year.
Bad tactics. Jumbo should give up red to primoz and then Sepp should just mark him to 2nd or 3rd overall. Otherwise he won’t get podium at all
Good plan for a podium but race for second. 😱🦋
There is no defence.
Kuss collapsed like a cheap pack of cards as soon as it went uphill
FYI - the audio is low. Might want to check it for future videos.
Seems fine to me?
All good for me.
I will have Garrett look into that but it did test good to me. 🤔🦋👍
Can hear it loud and clear up the West Coast.
Something tells me Sepp coasted a LOT during Off Season Training...😁
How do you not talk about TDFF?! Silence says everything about you.
Because he comments on professional cycling not soap operas…😂😂
@@tonyg3091Yeah right. There’s no soap operas in men’s racing? TdF stage was epic and imminently more review worthy than stage 2 of the Vuelta. SMH………….
@@marcpost4034 This is true. Last stage of girls' race was way more interesting, I agree.
Just do not call it TdF, it was just a short stage race part of which happened in France.
Sepp Kuss red jersey defense😂. He wont even be in the Top 5 at the end. Maybe even not in the Top 10
I Shout without Doubt it's all About the Clout of Wout.
