- It took a while for all the various parts to show up but once I got them, it took a day to get it cleaned up and running. This DCS 6401 is 64CC,s and thats right around 2 HP. its capable of handling a 36 inch bar but I put a 20 inch bar on it because the longer chainsaw bars are so much more expensive.

That Makita is a Beast! Good job bringing it back to life.
There is a video of a guy that has one of these with a 28 inch bar. He is cutting some big logs with it.
Wish you were closer! I have a tiller that the pull rope broke on, hubby repaired it but after that I couldn't pull it anymore, and there were times it was a challenge for him not to break his hand! I think I have a local friend that might be able to help me out. That's a sweet rebuild! I do love watching these videos, I do learn some trick or something everytime!
I think the return spring on your pull rope may be wound to tight.
Good to know about the charger. I haven’t had any issues with mine yet, but it’s good information to keep in the back pocket......
Nothing like a brand new tool to make your day.
Yup! Fills the whole shop with that new tool smell !
Fine job on the saw. Well done.
Thanks!
Yay, new toys! I didn't even know Makita made a chainsaw and you brought it back to life. Hiya Brad!
Hey Patrick! Makita is made by a german company called Dolmar. supposedly, the best chainsaws on earth.
Really sweet buddy!
Im probably gonna use it some tomorrow.
Craftsman batteries do the same thing. Discharged battery will give bad battery reading. The other charger will pretend to charge it then say defective but if you set the battery aside for a few minutes it will take a charge. Cold weather issue
Muchas gracias amigo
You do stay busy with projects. Nice rebuild on the chain saw.
wyattoneable thanks Wyatt. I was gonna use it today but it’s gonna be drizzling all day.
I had the same issue with my DeWalt batteries, bad charger. Nice tool haul! Take care BC and Mrs BC!
It can be costly figuring out that it isn’t the batteries.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose yes, I just so happened to have an extra charger and found out the batteries where good, but the charger was bad....I was lucky!
A nice looking impact wrench and a good job on the Makita ;-))
Thanks! Ill use it tomorrow if it isnt raining.
@@bctruck how hard was it to sell, I have one myself in good condition I bought for $20 at a pawnshop
That saw sounds like a monster
It isnt even tuned yet. Tomorrow Im gonna use it and tune it.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose i bet it sales fast
Amigo the little blue bottom for what it is because I push in and mi chainsaw no working anymore gracias
The compression release??
sounds good,needs Franks sauce....lol
Its running on franks! I put that $H1T in everything!
LMFAO!!!!
Not tearing down the charger to look for a simple fix?
TrollForge of course I did! Nothing obvious wrong and my electrological skills are truly lacking. I did some rudimentary testing but nothing was obviously not working.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose oh well, I was kinda hoping to here a "planed obsolescence" rant ;)
LOL!!! I am uploading a "rant" video as we speak! great minds think alike! Its not about planned obsolescence though.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose lol,ya we'll go with that, and stand back to back with chainsaws ready, for anyone who wants to claim that it's "fools seldom differ". ;)
Didn't know Makita made chainsaws.
Xsiner from what I understand, a company called Dolmar makes the saws with makita name on them. The new makita saws are orange which is the Dolmar color.
Oh ok.
Makita green Dolmar
yep! I believe makita bought dolmar out.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair,repurpose good saws
I was sure that stihl was the best. I have two. This is the first makita/dolmar ive ever had and I am completely impressed with its power and ease of starting. very well thought out piece of machinery.
You meant to say that you smell like "special cleaning solution", not gasoline.
Gasoline? I would never!!😇😇😇😇
