  • "I am almost speechless" - Kolfinna Snæbjørg, Iceland.

There are no official figures. Estimates vary but 5 to 10% of those diagnosed with PD are under the age of 50. The condition known as YOPD (Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease) has separate symptoms and rare disease status. Many will live with the condition for decades - suffering because of the condition and through side effects of the treatments currently available.
Causes maybe genetic, environmental, or a mix of factors. Its impact stretches far beyond the individual. There are no official figures, there are no official costs. If we did you may well see its impact on your tax bill. It’s something none of us can afford to ignore, and all of us are at risk of. Heather Kennedy is a young, vibrant writer, dancer and mother with Parkinson’s. How do people see her? Is it changing her as a person? What about the future?

I met Heather Kennedy while in Parkinson's groups on fb.... see like Heather I look normal but fight this condition daily. The struggle is real. I deal and cope by doing stand-up.... you see I used to play bass and guitar... I used to draw and write songs and poetry. So difficult to focus. Love you Heather Kennedy

A poignant and moving video. I hope that it manages to reach an audience beyond which the vast majority of awareness reaches, which is people who are already fully aware of this disease and it's impact.
