  • Adam Wainwright has been a household name in the MLB for as long as I can remember - and since the all-star break this year he has been having one of the most dominant stretch of any pitcher in the league. What’s the reasoning behind the resurgence of this veteran? In today’s video we dive deep to try and find out.

It good to see new guys making changes and having success, but it’s just as fun to see older players having much better success with minimal change

As a Pirates fan I have had to watch this man pitch more times than you could possibly imagine. I've always admired him for his curveball, glad to see him getting some recognition. Great video

I'm currently a college student with a serious interest of making a career out of sabermetrics with either a college program or mlb team. What are some things I should do now that would increase my chances of landing a job like this after college?

Hey Julian - great question! My first suggestion would be to reach out to the team at the college you're currently at and see if you can help out in any way. There is no substitute for getting hands on experience as soon as you possibly can - and often times if you ask to volunteer your help now there is no reason for them to say no.
If there isn't a team where you're currently studying, start doing your own work and publishing it online (even if it's just to Twitter). Learning programming languages like R to show off different things you found from baseball savant data or any other public data is another great way to get noticed.
Also, reach out to people in the industry who have job titles that you think may interest you someday and ask to do an informational interview. This will benefit you in two ways, one you get to build your network, and two you get to learn more about the industry.
Hopefully this gives you a good starting point, good luck!

Same with Jon Lester, except he's been dominant all career

Exactly! Everywhere he’s been he’s seen success. Thanks for the comment 👊🏻
