With a neck thickness of 23mm at the 1st fret and 26 at the 12th fret, the owner of this Explorer found this neck to be just too thick for him. So he asked me to thin it down. www.flameguitars.co.uk
People do not realize how hard buffer wheel work can be. It is very unforgiving it'll rip that rig out of your hand and throw it on the floor like a rag doll. Nice work!
I have big hands and beefy necks are my favorites. Standard Les Paul are too thin so I stick to Traditionals. Looks like you dodged a bullet there. Good job.
Outstanding work! A couple of quick questions... did you have the owner try it before you painted it? Or was that not an option? Also, have you seen the neck sanding block from Tom Sands? He shares an interesting tip at MY TOP 5 LUTHIER HACKS where he's using a sanding block that's about the size of the neck which helps keep the surface level throughout. Not his trick, but a tip he shared in that vid. ⭐
Thanks. We had agreed the final thickness of the neck before I started work. As for keeping the neck straight, I check frequently to make sure that I am not creating any hollows.
You get one shot at this. You're a brave man!
Thank you David,great work/ skill 👌👍😎🍺
Great top notch job
Hi David, another superb job. Hope all is well with you🎸
Thanks Ray. All good here
WWWoooWWW. Once U started to scrape the paint, I felt a sharp pain in my heart. jajajaja very nice job. 🎸🎸🎸 Wished I see the owner play it.
Why? it's just wood.
Great work!
Thanks

Makes me wonder why Gibon would even make a neck that large. Can't say I know anyone that likes thick necks like that, even large hand players.
Great work, man!🌧️
Lovely job…..as always

nice.. i'll try with my guitar. it kind too thick for me
Customer walks in and says "give me the Jimmy Page neck".
I do this to cheap guitars alot I'd be nervous on that one😂
Did the sound of the guitar change after the neck got thinner?
Hard for me to say as I didn't play the guitar much before I started work. But I doubt if the work made any difference to the sound.
Nitro is probably the worse finish you can apply to guitars, especially guitar necks!
Tell that to Gibson.
Couldn't care less LOL@@notasilicaanimus
