  • Power Up! A quick rundown of Creality's new "Falcon-2" 22W laser. I've been continuously using my Falcon 10W since I received it and was excited for the chance to try out an even more powerful version. It functions exactly the same as their "CR Falcon" 10W and I perform a side-by-side comparison of the two. The steampunk and labyrinth valet trays were just a quick example of its' capabilities.
    Creality sent me this laser in exchange for this video. That means my viewers get a discount code to save a few bucks (click the link below and use code "Falcon50")

    Now if we can strap it to some ill-tempered sea bass then we're GOLDEN!!! Great stuff, brother.

      If I can rig it up to a battery and stick a handle on it, I would have a pretty sweet phaser pistol.

    It's like night and day between them. At first, I thought the gears were real metal but are kool. I can see some great stuff coming down the line from you.

    I'm needing a laser cutter/etcher for a project I'm doing right now. But I have to mail it to my friend out of state to do. The priced of these are just too high for me to afford at the moment.

      If you can swing it, go for a laser with an enclosure. Makes it much easier to work with.

    I have to say you are very talented with leather. I'm getting back into knife and leather sheath and holster making. I'm wanting to get to where I can cut the leather patterns out on the laser

    What kind of glue do you use on leather. I'm using contact glue and it gets sticky before I'm through applying

    Great side by side comparison, might be useful in my shop, but how difficult is it to program the design. Used to do some CAD but would appreciate some input on the input needed to create the designs and cuts needed to make it useful. Thanks, fan of your work...

      If you used to work with CAD, then it should be fairly easy. I'm a professional graphic designer during the day, so am used to designing stuff like this. I use Adobe Illustrator to make the artwork, then copy/paste into Lightburn. But there's free apps like Inkscape to make vector art. As with all things these days, CZcams is your friend here!

      @@RoadAgentLeather Agree completely! I started end of last year with Lightburn and its honestly a steep initial learning curve but after watching lots of YT videos, the switch will flip and you'll be designing in no time!! Great video BTW!
      Love the gears!

    Any suggestions on some good starting point material settings for the Falcon 2 22w laser to engrave and cut leather? Just getting started with the laser engraver and this is my first one. I have been doing digging for some basic starter settings for laser power and speed for the Falcon 2 22w laser but don't seem to have much more than what is sent with the machine unlike some of the other brands of lasers that seem to have a database of some good starting points for settings on different materials and thickness. Any help would would be greatly appreciated to help dial in some settings when doing the material test grids.

    • @RoadAgentLeather
      @RoadAgentLeather  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Depends on what you're doing. For cutting, I use 100% power and adjust speed to cut in couple of passes (It's best to speed up the laser and use multiple passes instead of trying to slug through slowly in one.) For engraving, maybe around 10% or 20% power. You just have to make a few test runs on some scrape to dial in your settings.

  • @JSGilbert

    Looks like 10 oz veg tan leather or maybe 12 oz. I’m assuming that the 22 watt laser could probably cut 5 oz leather in a single pass.
