    Hosim makes great durable affordable RC’s. My 9125 is still one of my favorite RC’s to run. It’s ultra reliable and tough as nails.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah this one took some loooong tumbles and a few good hits and shows zero signs of stress or damage. That I was impressed with. I slammed into the pipes a few time hard and ran it off the jump at least twice and it landed hard on the body and no issues so I give it a big thumbs up on the tough factor. I will get some oil dampers on it and clean up the track and give it another go out there. It has to do better with some better shocks.

    Hi Addam, great review my friend, very clear and honest as usual! I've never had a truck with an outrunner so that was really interesting to see. It sure had enough punch! The truck may have friction shocks but it still looked a ton of fun out on the grass and on your dusty and overgrown track! A decent run time and enough power to put a smile on your face means it's a decent buy for the price. Take care pal! 😎👊👍

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Thanks mark. It was a fun one and this it the first truck outside of a crawler I have seen with an out-runner myself. It worked very well but the only downside is cooling it off if needed as you can only rely on a fan to help. It is a little bouncy but seems tough enough to take all the tumbles. I am going to stick some oil dampers on it and give it another go at the track once it has been cleared! I think it has much more in it out there, just need to settle it down and clear the jungle! The track was embarrassing to show but it is what I had to work with! It is on my weekend to do list to get out and clear all that mess up!

      @@AddamsPlayground All good, Addam! Don't worry about showing the overgrown track, it was good to add some different terrain to the running in the yard and I know sometimes you just have to work with what you've got! Great job there! 👍👍

    $129 is a bargain for a brushless rig as an entry to rc i think it's good to see some not so high level models available i think that's one of the issue's Australia has with it's lack of enthusiasm for rc you either do it or you don't know one can afford to dabble or try rc at the cost of the high end stuff these models introduce more to the hobby who then go to high end models great vid and review very thoroughly done nice work Addam 👊

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Thanks Mark. I am glad you enjoyed it and it is sad to hear the lack of enthusiasm for RC over there. I can understand a bit as it is extremely expensive for you guys over there to get things. I think the cheaper and more readily available kits are a great thing as it does attract more folks into the hobby. Sadly there are so many out there now in so many configurations it can be risky to just go grab one as you may not know exactly what you are getting so I do hope these videos help folks out know what they are getting for their money. Take care mate and have a great rest of your week!

    Great price for that RTR Addam. Looks like it is very fast!! I got my nephews a couple of these type of mini RTR 1/14 truggies to get them into the hobby. They hold up well but we found they can get a little glitchy after a few runs but they can be great starts for the younger generations getting into the hobby 🙌🏻

      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah time will tell how well it will hold up. From the bumps and tumbles it took in the first run it shows no sign of stress or damage but then it was just one run too! I am going to stick some oil dampers on it and get the track cleaned up so it has a fighting chance out there! I was completely embarrassed of showing the track in that horrible condition but it is what it is!

    This is an excellent review. This truck is quick and turns very well. I was impressed the way it landed coming off the jumps. It may be the first non-crawler I have seen with an out runner motor. According to their site their office and warehouse is in Dallas. So, I would assume parts would be available quickly. I could see kids and new drivers having a lot of fun with it.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It was a fun run with it and it jumped pretty well. It could really use the oil filled shocks so I am going to grab a set for it and take it back out on the track for another go, this time without it looking like a jungle! LOL! Most of the common parts are available on Amazon for very reasonable prices. The rest you can order from Hosim and get pretty quickly as well. I was very surprised to see the outrunner motor in there as well, like you I have only seen them in crawlers previously. It worked well the only downfall is cooling, a fan would help but the heatsink and fan combo always work better.

  • @madsrcbuggy
    @madsrcbuggy Před 2 měsíci +1

    It was impressive to see that you can throttle it and it flips back on its wheels after a tumble, very nice!
    That motor is actually really nice! I have a couple of them ready for projects (one goes in the Typhon Grom, one in the Grasshopper), and I was actually struggling to find them again to buy more. So good to know they are still being used, must be possible to find... I believe it's 2700kV, basically perfect for many applications!

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah, I got luck a couple times and was able to flip it over using the throttle! The walk of shame is still the walk of shame even when you are by yourself! LOL!
      The little motor surprised me. I opened it up for the first time and laughed as it is one of the smallest motors I have seen in a basher type truck thought it may struggle but it ripped right along and goes pretty fast! I can see why you have used them for other projects, small and compact but pretty powerful and fast! The only drawback i could see using it is not being able to use a heat sink on it, you would have to rely only on a fan to help keep it cool. It got hot running it but not excessively hot so at least they did not over gear it badly. Take care Mads!

    That is a zippy little RC, first time I have seen a outrunner motor on a small basher like this. It did take a few real good tumbles and hits, and came out like a champ. Like how you inform those are looking at getting it to maybe get some oil fill shock and for $129 to get into the hobby with something like this great choice. Great run and review, take care and best wishes to you and the family.

      Yes, I was very surprise to open it up and see the out-runner motor in it. Not a common setup but it did really well, it had plenty of get up and go for its size. It can cartwheel like a gymnast for sure!! I had a good time with it and I am going to stick some oil filled shock on it and take it back out on the track after it is all cleared off for another rip! • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah, it seems like oil filled shock should be standard gear these days. At least they are much cheaper now to find, it used to be the oil dampers cost you dearly now a full set for something like this is $15-20 so not a terrible cost increase but another none the less. IT can cartwheel like a pro gymnast!! I was very surprised it drove out as well, the leaves are about a foot deep on the other side of the plants! It was a fun run!

      It was a fun run with it and I think the smaller, lighter weight of them helps with the durability. Not everything needs to be a 16 pound 8s basher to put a smile on your face and these take a hit much better than the bog ones do sometimes.

    Great review my firiend. The car's nice.
    Only one thing's not so nice. It's the outrunner. I could tell a lot of vons about it in that type of car. But at the end of day it's easier to say, this is motor better suiting into crawlers.
    Maybe they'll give this as a tuning option, some day.
    All in all it looks great on your course. And as long you had fun an for the price it's allright.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 měsíci

      Thanks Dirk, the truck did pretty well out there. A little bouncy but it was still fun. The out-runner motor was a surprise to me and I know more often they are seen in comp crawlers of scale trucks where space is limited. This one seemed to have some good speed and punch with it. Much faster than crawler motors. I assume is it probably initially for a plane or something due to the speed and size. Outside of being a little more difficult to keep cool it seemed to work well. I am sure a normal can brushless would fit in there fine as well. Take care my friend and have a great rest of your week.

  • @canuckchuck8836
    @canuckchuck8836 Před 2 měsíci +1

    I wonder if you could attach a nice sharpened metal prop to the outrunner motor to keep it cool and increase the danger levels? Maybe if you do that, fill the bodyshell with cubed beef, bacon and cheese. That way you will have prepared ground beef for squealer burgers ready for cooking; all while running the RC! I cannot think of a more fun way to prepare supper. Think of the significant other bonus points you could earn! 👍👍

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Interesting cooling method... Even more interesting dinner prep! I think it could be possible but the added grass may not really enhance the burgers nor the grit. I like a tiny bit of char crisp on the outside of a burger but not dusty grit as much... I find it a bit distracting and takes away a little from the overall eating experience! LOL! Of course I would have to paint a new body with Arnold driving with "get to the chopper" lettered down the side! LOL! I'll probably just stick some oil filled shocks on it and try that for a first step of upgrades! LOL!

    Well. These are pretty cool looking little rigs. I think the body looks decent as well. First of all I want to say that I am not being a downer when I see these rigs. BUT.. Always a little shy of going to a rig like this. Specially with plastic drive train and shocks with no oil. Problem is, when you start upgrading these few little things? When your done? You could have bought a better rig for the cost of upgrading. I find the same things with WPL. Rigs Always nice looking and Great details but not reliable for the long run. OR it doesn't even run all that great ... Did a great overview on it Addam and it DID look pretty good out there for the run as well. Boy that track is looking a little abandoned. lol Great video

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I totally understand. I am going to toss on some $20 shocks and leave it at that. The rest of it seems pretty durable but time will tell how they all hold up. I tend to stick to the major brands usually but these are nice to have for fun running where if something does break I am not gutted and most things can be fixed for 10-15 bucks so not a bad deal. Yes, the track is an embarrassment but I did not want to mow them down yet. The weed killer was still doing its thing and I wanted to wait until it fully killed off what it could and then clean it off. I waited to long to take care of it and the weeds all showed up in full force this spring! It is one of the weekend to-do project to get out there and make it look respectable.

      Cool, I am glad you learned something new. Normally the outrunner motors you only see in some rock crawlers, mostly competition or ultra scale ones where space is limited. I do need to get it back out with the DR10, I should have grabbed it when we went out last time but I will be building two more on road cars in the near future so I am sure when I take one of those out I will grab it for another go. That new parking lot should be a great place to run it, nice and smooth and flat!
