Hello from France. Just left my cinema school and I'm going to photoshoot my first singer artist next week. Thank you Pete for these tips that shall guide me for this first mission
My pleasure! Good luck at the shoot!
All the shots are beautiful, but the intensity in the drummer portrait is incredible. 👏👏👏
Thanks, Geoff!
Good one! And its your approach,
that really brings up thoughts. Inspiring!
Wow, thank you so much! I appreciate it!
had my doubts about this but immediately recognized not only very beautiful polished and accomplished images but even more a great philosophy and approach. Truly thoughtful and something that would elevate anyones approach. Great stuff!
Hey Art, wow! Thank you so much for this thoughtful and kind comment! It really means a lot to me. 🙏
Lovely…everything I needed 👍🙏. Can t’you show us how you edit and Color grade you images? Like the one at 11:18 minutes. I love this rendering. Thanks a happy new year. Thomas
Thanks, Thomas. I appreciate your kind words. For color grading, check out my mentor Ivan Weiss: www.youtube.com/@IvanWeiss-london
He has some wonderful tutorials on color grading and other topics. I learned the process from him.
It would be nice to get such tipps about businesspeople.
Great video! Love the metaphor of the bassist carrying the whole band on his shoulders 😉
Also that photo of Paul is 🔥🔥🔥. You really captured that “best drummer on Long Island” vibe.
Thanks buddy! You know better than most how much band carrying I do LOL
Thank you for nice tipps, i adore close portraits = how you call it headshots.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video and tips, Pete!
Thanks, Charlie! I appreciate you checking it out!
Awesome video and insights. Enjoyed the whole video. Also you are a really good presenter.
Thanks so much Chris!

You're welcome!
Nice video with some great suggestions, Pete! All the best from Spain!
Thanks so much for watching! Sending my best from New York back at you!
Great vid! Definitely going to use these tips during my next musician shoot! Your photos look fantastic! Just subscribed 🙌
Thanks Jason! Appreciate the sub 🙏
Great video! You did an excellent job.
Thanks for watching, Josh!
Amazing video! The way you communicate with your viewer, and the way you convey your message are outstanding; let alone the fact that you are such a lovely character whose positive vibes immediately resonate with those listening to your tips. Keep up the good work, Bro.
Thanks so much for this! 🙏🙏🙏
I'll be dong a musician shoot (trumpeter) in a couple of weeks, and was looking for ideas when I came across your video. It has, I think, put me in the right frame of mind for approaching the shoot. Thanks very much for the thought and effort.
Great to hear and good luck with the shoot!
Great video! Thanks to share this info!
My pleasure!
You have a very cool approach and create Uber-cool content! I'm a retired orchestral/jazz bass player entering into a new later-life career as a headshot/portrait photographer and everything you say about this genre of photography resonates with me 100%. Also, we bass players DO carry the weight of the music!
Thank you so much for this comment! Bassists make great photographers!
I am about to have a session with a teenage kid who is a musician and your approach gave a whole new perspective. thanks a lot.
Great to hear, and good luck with the session!
Great video? DAMNED RIGHT! It inspired me to reach out to a music festival coordinator and a band. Today. On a Sunday. During Covid. So, I shoot this summer. This proves that your video works THANK YOU, PETE! I am a fan!
Thanks, John! This is awesome -- good luck and go get 'em!
@@PeteCocoPhoto I will keep you posted, Pete. Remember, it is in July, but I will not forget.
Great thoughtful guidance, presented really well. You're a natural at this Pete. Predicting a wildly successful channel. :-)
Thanks so much, Bob! I really appreciate it!
Thank you to my Instagram friends for sending me this topic! If you have an idea for my next video, drop it in the comments below.
awesome! quick question, do you have some tips o doing self portraits as a musician? (I am a guitar player)
If your camera has an intervalometer that helps a lot. You can program it to fire of a number of shots while you pose. Self portraits are tough for sure but the same rules apply. Try a bunch of angles, crops, etc. Good luck!
@@PeteCocoPhoto Thank you. I will give it a try. Have you done sel portraits of yourself with your instrument and applied the tips you gave here?
@@madalitsonjobvucristoclear I've done a bunch of self portraits with and without my instrument. I'm a double bassist so it's definitely challenging to do a self portrait with it.
Hi Pete. Can I ask you hot you shot the drummer? Was it a constant light to use on the hands, then you ´ve adjusted the key light on the upper body part? Hope my English is clear🤞🤞🤞
Hi Thomas, I used constant light for that photo and layered the hands from 2 different images in order to give it the motion blur effect. Hope that helps!
@@PeteCocoPhoto Excellent! I will try to get this effect in camera , but I guess the layers technique seems lot easier. Thanks for your advice 👍👍👍
@@ThomasRuhlandPhotography My pleasure! It can definitely be done in camera, but with continuous light it will be more challenging since the subject must remain perfectly still. I am glad you enjoyed the video!
@@PeteCocoPhoto where can I send you a dm?

I’m a musician too
Cool! Musicians usually make for great photographers.
