Just something to consider from the viewpoint of a grandmother (lol) I know we had it better as far as prices for owning a home but I stayed home with the kids and my husband did not have a big job so we did scrape by for many many years. Fast forward to retiring last year with not much pension but a paid for house, we are mortgage free and rent free which is fabulous. Our friends that always rented are now retired and still have to pay rent forever. I also at your age obviously did not think about that far down the road but am so glad we struggled back in the day to not have to pay rent or mortgage now. Just some ramblings from an old fart lol. Also really love your videos.
yes but insurance/maintenance/upkeep/taxes still cost quite a lot. Not sure how much less you're actually paying than someone with a really modest rent.
@@nicolebrennan3085 problem is where I live we couldn't afford to rent now because the rents are thru the roof ,if you could even find a vacancy.
Having a paid off house is kinda the only possible way to retire for most of us
Home Ownership is still the best option down the line!
I definitely watch CZcams when I’m doing something else, so I like these kinds of videos where I don’t have to look at the screen the whole time
I also think when it comes to renting /owning people often only consider the mortgage vs the cost of rent and there are soooo many more expenses that come with home maintenance, property tax, renovations, insurance etc
I always thought renting was a waste of money, and then I moved out and became a renter in my early 20s (I'm 27), it was such a good move. I was NOT in any way ready to buy a property, I didn't have to do yard work, or maintain the property. It was definitely the move at the time.
Omg the YARD WORK what I would do to never have to do that again 😂😂
@@rachspeed we own a huge property now with a large yard and I'm always out there doing stuff 😂😂😂 I absolutely hate it but it is what it is at this point LOL
actually buying a house comes with property taxes and other varied bills! with renting, you have all your maintenance issues and other area covered, it is actually a smarter move to rent than to buy for some. sad that most people dont know that
Yes I love long form videos when I’m doing chores or getting ready for the day! xx
Yes to everything but ESPECIALLY shelling out $$ for movers!! Last move I hired people and lordy lord, the move was seamless, I wasn’t sore the next day, it was amazingggg!!
i love the chatty videos! im the same way with listening to them while doing other things
Please please please, please......I need more financial lessons and more big sis chat sessions!!! I seriously enjoy thrifting! cause that's buying stuff that suits your personality at literally nothing of its price. But the region where I live, has zero to no thrifting stores... I want to learn more about styling and furniture and have lots of fintech sessions with you!!!! Love your content alottt!!!
Something so rewarding about finding a good item at the thrift store. Love it.
I heard in a podcast last year that you’re not saving money & its not a deal if you didn’t need it in the first place and it makes so much sense
Yes yes yes to big girl lessons and chatty vids! Watched this while having late lunch and i thoroughly enjoyed. Love you Rach!

I’m new to your channel, and was chocked to find out you are actually 29. You look so much younger, literally thought you were 21!
In the best way possible, would have had no idea you would be turning 29 this year if you didn't say it! But thanks for the great advice (from a newly 23 year old :))
Very good advice!
I really enjoyed this video! Especially talking about rent vs mortgage! I feel the same way as you 💗
I'm living under the rental for many, many years. Okay, I was 18th when I went to university to another city and after I finished I start working, so I moved each year to another apartment with my roommates. Until I finally start living by myself. We were 27th when we (my husband and I) decided to immigrated to Canada, TO. Again rental place, in 2021 we immigrated to Austria, again renting.
I wanted to say, renting a place is not a bad thing for people who are moving much for a reason.
You pay the amount each month and you are done..
One day I believe that we will invest and get some property, which will be renting place for some nice people 😀. It is nice to have your own place, but also it's a good feeling to be mortgage free. My opinion is that, living under the rent is not a waste of money it is just a different lifestyle if I can put it like that. Now I'm 38 lol...,🙌
It's all about the balance and how you plan your priorities. Life is too short to be
"bound" by some crazy amount of money whole life.
Sending love for another side ❤️
Would love to hear more about great investments you've made! Hoping to start investing in stocks soon :)
