    In this video, we figure out how we can treat our semiconductor band structure as a two-level system using the reduced density of states, analagous to our density of states in the conduction and the valence band (all you have to do is plug in the reduced mass instead!).
    This is part of my graduate series on optoelectronics / photonics, and is based primarily on Coldren's book on Lasers as well as graduate-level coursework I have taken in the EECS department at UC Berkeley.
