Hi! thanks for your video! How much harvest did you have from this amount of jars? How many jars I would need if I want to have harvest every week? Lets say i wanna have i big portion of spinach salad every week from spring to autumn 😊 btw, how long is the harvesting period for one spinach plant? I hope my questions are clear :) Thanks!
Can do the same method using sponge and the lettuce rack surrounded by clay pellets. You can spare them the transplant shock with the sponge and in a bigger bucket use a pump to air the solution to the plant.
I’ve actually started some pepper seeds directly ON the clay pebbles. I rinsed off the clay pebbles and put a couple seeds in and covered with more pebbles. Fill the container with water fairly high to be sure the top layer of pebbles stay wet. You can probably cover it in another container or some Saran Wrap to contain the moisture.
I did this three days ago just a jam jar filled with clay pebbles I rinsed and soaked overnight. Filled it three quarters of the way up and sprinkled some lolla Rossa lettuce seeds (I think, might be something else. I've got a black thumb so I wing it and try not to mess up too much). Three days and they're growing like crazy.
Hey man you should mix the micro first before veg and bloom. Also flora series has a chart for the nutrient ratio per each ki d of veggie that your trying to grow👍
Hopefully this is not a duplicate comment... To read the test more accurately, overlay the test bottle over the test solution. This provides more contrast and you can better tell where on the solution bottle the the test results are. The result is where the solution in the test bottle blends into the test solution bottle. Cheers
precipitation is why they come in separate containers. Some elements bond in high concentration locking out elements but stay in solution in low plant usable level.
Here once again is my problem. Everybody says water them or water them a little bit. I need clarification on that because I’m really terrible with overwatering.
Hi, Braxton -- is natural light okay for the hydroponic spinach? I do not have a south window availabe, but I have a corner with big windows on both walls that meet to make the corner. One is west facing and the other is north facing. Thanks.
Mary Turton Good question! Spinach typically need full Sun, but i am not sure if it varries for different verieties. It may work if that wondow gets a good amount of light throughout the day. I have always wanted to try, but unfortunately my house is well shaded. But back to your situation. The only way to be sure is to try. Let me know how it turns out!
CJ Hetle Hi. The spinach turned out great! I am really impressed with the bloomsdale longstanding veriety. I have also heard that, however I have grown all sorts of plants with and without covering the roots and it does not seem to make much of a difference. So unless you are using transparent buckets or something, I would not worry about it until you notice an issue. Thanks for watching my video, and the great comment! I will try to get an update video up tomorrow.
Anil Kumar Pilla I don't usually change the water unless algae gets really bad. However, usually by that time the plants are ready for the larger containers and I just transfer them to buckets with new solution.
If u still needed to know the cheapest possible is Amazon, there's tons of different sellers so definitely look around & you'll find cheap cheap prices.
You’re talking about the pebbles. You have two bowls with pebbles. One bowl contains pebbles, immersed in water. The other bowl has dried pebbles. Why?
Hi, if you get good results, can you write the solution of flora series? I have gro, micro, bloom, ripen, bio roots. And could you write a solution for all weeks of growing?
Hello! I have had good luck with my setup. I do not have the ripen or bio roots solutions. I hope I am understanding what you are saying but, there isn't a set plan for the concentration or ratio of the solutions for all plants. From what I understand, It really depends on the plant, and what stage it is currently in. With my spinach seedlings, i will usually start with the recommended seedling concentration until around the time they have their first true leaves. At that point I would swap out the solution for the general growth concentration. For flowering plants, like tomatoes, i would follow the steps for the spinach until the plant starts to show signs of flowering or you think it is big enough to start producing buds. At that point i would switch to the transition to blooming concentration, then to the blooming and ripening concentration ratio sometime after it starts flowering more frequently. These concentration ratios are shown in my video above, as well as the labels on the bottles. I have had good results with leafy plants in the past, but i am now working on getting a new video up of my first hydroponic tomato, pepper, and cucumber plants(so far, doing great), so stay tuned for those updates! I hope this is what you meant, if not please explain and i will do my best to answer it! Thank you for the comment!
Thank you for your answer! The period until the true leaves clear, is feeding in the same proportion in the table on the label, and flowering does not interest me - only the mass of leaves. And I apologize for my English, I am a farmer from Russia, and the spinach have spread very little, so I try to find information on a solution to vegitation period for spinach is a maximum of green mass. Solution supply system - drip irrigation without reversing daily at the start of daylight. Substrate - perlite and vermiculite 50/50.
I currently use the Kratky bucket system (no bubblier system). So I don't know how well I would be able to help you with your setup. As far as the nutrients go, the proportion does change from before true leaves, and then after. The concentration increases from 1/4 tsp per gallon (33ml/100L) to 1 tsp per gallon (132ml/100L). You are basically giving the plants 4x the nutrients after they obtain a few true leaves. This goes for the FloraGro, FloraMicro, and FloraBloom by General Hydroponics. If you are looking for more intense growth, then the label suggests a ratio of 3 tsp/gallon (396ml/100L) of the FloraGrow, 2tsp/gal (254ml/100L) of the Micro, and only 1 tsp/gal (132ml/100l) of the FloraBloom. I hope this helps! I am sorry that i can't help you any further at this point.
Thank you, Braxton! And yes, I looking for must intense vegitation, but I think what my system without reverse will use 80% of this concentation. Any way, thank you again!
Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately I never got around to documenting their growth on video. However i may have some photos and i will post a slideshow of sorts this week if i find them.
I'll have to try the dark sock method. You can also use newspaper to wrap around jars to keep the light out.... secure with scotch tape & rubber bands..
I have wider netted basket and I am planning to grow Spinach. my questions to you is instead of clay pebbles can I use coca peat. if I can can you tell how to place the spinach sprouts. Kindly let me know awaiting your reply
k. vijay It would be similar to growing with the clay pebbles I would think. Ive never used that medium before, but as long as it doesnt degrade or alter the pH of the nutrient solution it should work just fine. I would plant them similarly to soil by burying the seeds and making sure they stay damp. If you already have seedlings though, I would just bury the roots and part of the stems. Either way, make sure your nutrient solution is wicked up to the roots so they dont dry out. Thats what I would do at least. You can always experiment to see what works for you. Hope that helps!
great instructions! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great video. Looking forward to seeing how the spinach grows. Blessings
This was so helpful. Thank you very much!!
Thanks this was very helpful.
Can you post how big they got?Id love to see them at two feet tall.
How did the Spinach turn out? Thanks Braxton

new to this please update next process
Any update on how the spinach did? I know other videos talk about blocking a light to the roots, did you do that?

Pool noodles all the way. CZcams Mike VanDuzee. Also youtube sand wicking seed starting - kitty litter may prove usefull yet.
how offten do you change the water solution in the jars.
Anil Kumar Pilla
I don't usually change the water unless algae gets really bad. However, usually by that time the plants are ready for the larger containers and I just transfer them to buckets with new solution.
You May want to reduce spending cost now by using pool noodle segments shown by mike Van DuZee.
Where did you buy your net pots?

Сергей Самарин Its no problems at all! Sorry i was not of more help. Best of luck on your system!
did you do a update on these plants?
Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately I never got around to documenting their growth on video. However i may have some photos and i will post a slideshow of sorts this week if i find them.
just grow a new bach:)
+Je Be Yeah. Im planning on starting a new batch this weekend but maybe plant some different varieties, so stay tuned for a new video!
Put a dark sock over the jar
^^^ otherwise the sunlight will allow algae to grow in your solution
I'll have to try the dark sock method. You can also use newspaper to wrap around jars to keep the light out.... secure with scotch tape & rubber bands..
Soda or beer can. Cut the top out with a can opener. 2” net pots fit perfectly.
There is a name for this method. Kratky method. Please look it up. Will explain how this method works.
My New Plants and Update video went live yesterday! Check it out on my channel!
🤣thx very good please can u teach to grow mint indoor plant
