🤣🤣...I would never watch some of these films again in a million years. And yet I could watch Mark's reviews of them on a loop...they are so much more entertaining. His review of Avatar 2 is destined to become a classic!

Its quite amusing that the villains are all supposed to be a terrorist family, despite the fact that the dad looks like the Shah, one son looks like he's from the gulf, and another looks son must hails from the Levant appearance wise. So they are all non-specially brown.

I've heard this 'correction' before and I'm sure I'll hear it again; to me it's the epitome of pedantry. If you check the OED, it's been used in the more general sense of "to reduce drastically or severely; to destroy, ruin, devastate" for centuries.
Could it mean... that it has not been reduced BY 10%, but that it has been reduced TO 10%...? Either way, crap movie.
It’s not even pedantry, it’s just wrong. Words change their meanings over time, this is just the fallacy of etymology.
“Decimated” has meant “destroyed” for a long time now
@@patrickrowan6001 You conflate Annihilated with Decimated. It actually means two vastly different things, when talking about scope and scale. One is recoverable, the other is not.

I like how the White House is "Olympus" but London is just "London". That way everybody can know they didn't intend to tell a larger story but would really like to get paid for making roughly the same film again.
C'mon! UK isn't a big giant 'Murica.
"Olympus" in the first film is the codename for the White House. Why would there be a codename for London?

Sad but so true. Playing The Clash when a film scene is in London is incredibly tiresome now.
To be fair Mark's review made it sound hilarious. Although I think his review will be more entertaining than the actual film. Still, one for a boozy night in front of the TV where me and my pals can poke drunken fun at it...just like how I saw the first one.

Sluggish Throne $160m made on a $70m budget (not including promotional costs) seems pretty poor to me. Especially since a movie that is considered a success needs to make at least two and half times its production budget.

It was enjoyable, hope to see another
Mark Kermode is 100% right yet again. For an action movie this is incredibly boring and as a film overall, it is pure rubbish. Butler is terrible in a normal role, but in a role where he's doing an american accent with horrible dialogue he really shines in how rubbish he can be.
This film was so dumb and horrible and painfully boring to watch with terrible special effects. I agree with Kermode, White House Down was at least fun and enjoyable, where as this film has no redeeming qualities, not a single one. They better not make a third one.
In addition to all the things you just said, it's also terribly xenophobic and propagandist. The cinematic version of Donald Trump basically. I absolutely hated it.
Normally i agree with Mark but not on this one. White House Down way better than Olympus Has Fallen, no way sir. White House Down is tonally all over the place and has nothing like the opening assault on the White House which is spectacular in Olympus. I am not saying either film is a masterpiece but Olympus was far better for me and i think that led to a sequel. Lots of folk actually took to its charm of being outrageous and over the top with the dialogue and action.

Agreed. Few people will consider Olympus has Fallen a classic, but it's a decent throwback action movie for what it is, with some good direction to give it some genuine tension. White House Down legitimately feels like a Mel Brooks Naked Gun movie in parts.
London Has Fallen on the other hand felt like a direct-to-video film from the 80s, like terribly shot with no tension at all. Awful film.

It's a pity that the correspondence from listeners were not included because they added to the conversation of how terrible this film is.
I watched it this evening on Netflix. Its the worst film I've seen I think...
It's amazingly dumb, even for an action blockbuster. The dialogue is awful, cringe inducing at times....but funny due to the ridiculousness at others. When he said "Fuckheadistan", that got a laugh, because it was said completely straight, no irony at all.
Some of the action was ok. The whole plot with the terrorists and just how much of the police force and intelligence infrastructure they managed to hijack in just under two years was completely absurd.
Gerard Butler's American accent is awful, and his character was indestructible until about 10 minutes from the end, when he got hit in the arm by a stray bullet. There's no stakes if your lead never looks to be in danger and is always 100% right and capable of handling anything.
The Transformers movies have better action, and are less stupid. Well, except Revenge of the Fallen with it's robot heaven nonsense.

I love Mark both handsome and loves films .great ! im surprised at this review I've not seen the film but I've seen a trailer and to me ,it looked like a good movie .surprising review but Mr kermode is a pretty much right on about his reviews ,he also needs to go watch a movie with me ... lol

I like to watch these reviews because I always know that if Mark and Simon hate a movie , its not subtitled all the way through, it will be in colour not pretentious and high brow and will probably turn out to be a blockbuster and I will love it so thanks for the review

This is the cinematic equivalent of a double cheese burger with bacon from Five Guys Burgers.

It's such a shame. I was really looking forward to this film. Hoping it would be a little bit more patriotic towards Britain rather than just making us look useless. Such a shame....

It was rubbish. Apart from anything else, the script had an improbability factor of 0.97.
Instead of Muslim paramilitaries they should have used Slavs as they are a large grouolp that blend in better to Europe and hate the west.
Ulympus has Fallen became the second worst movie after the London was under siege and left ghost city in less than 12 hours in this another movie.
I enjoyed this movie - really liked it a lot, and hope to see a sequel.

Olympus has fallen was not a great film, but it had decent acting , directing and action scenes....White House down was completely unwatchable....I would rate it as one of the worst action films ever...... London has Fallen ..if it came out 10 years ago would have been a block buster !!...If you really want to see a far fetched ridiculous action film....just watch any of those Fast and Furious movies ...
