The dappled sunlight peered through the window, gently dancing across the faded cover of his novel that was sitting in his lap. His hands were turning the pages, but his mind wasn't reading the words. He couldn't seem to focus on the fictional story that was unfolding before him, because it reminded him too much of his own. The conflicted main protagonist, the wise mentor that guided him through his trials...the kindhearted companion that supported him through his hardships. All of these aspects and metaphors were reflected in his own life. They all seemed...real.

"Takuya?" Ariana gently tapped his shoulder to get his attention, instantly bringing him out of his thoughts. "You've been pretty quiet ever since we got here", she says, her voice laced with concern. "Is everything okay?" He nods and closes the book, casually laying it down on the table as he turns his attention to her, instead. "Yeah. I'm fine," he replies, "I'm just...taking some time to think, that's all" He gives her a subtle smile to ensure that nothing is wrong, since he didn't want to worry her. He wasn't very good at vocalizing his inner thoughts, because he could never find the correct words to express them. However, she could easily sense his emotions and was able to sympathize with him. She provided a safe space for him to open up and communicate freely, making their inseparable bond even stronger.

"Alright", she replies, "Remember, you can always tell me when something is wrong, okay?" She adds with a warm smile, as she wraps her hands around her steaming teacup for warmth. He chuckles at her genuine and innocent nature, simply nodding in response as he sips his tea and looks out the window at the golden afternoon sun. He knew that their story wasn't complete yet, and that was fine with him. Because she wouldn't leave his side until the final chapter...and he was forever grateful for her company. "Thank you..."
