Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio) drinks poison just as Juliet (Claire Danes) awakens.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The classic Shakespearean romantic tragedy is updated by director Baz Luhrmann to a post-modern Verona Beach where swords are merely a brand of gun and bored youths are easily spurred toward violence. Longtime rivals in religion and business, the Montagues and the Capulets share a page from the Jets and Sharks of West Side Story when they form rival gangs. Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio) is aloof toward the goings-on of his Montague cousins, but after he realizes that Juliet (Claire Danes) is a Capulet at the end of one very wild party, the enmity between the two clans becomes the root of his angst. He relies heavily -- and with serious consequences -- on his rebel gender-bender of a friend, Mercutio (Harold Perrineau Jr.), and Father (not Friar) Lawrence (Pete Postlethwaite) for protection and support. Romeo is, of course, exiled, and it looks like Juliet will be forced into an arranged marriage with the bland Paris (Paul Rudd). It ends, as Romeo and Juliet must, when Romeo hears a tragic piece of misinformation and brings his suicide wish to what was meant to be Juliet 's temporary tomb. This time, though, the turf and the weapon of choice have taken a turn toward the surreal.

There are certainly a lot of pretty boys in line waiting for a chance, the problem is that today Hollywood wants to normalize uglies as protagonists. See how they're eliminating blondes, blue eyes, and straight hair in all these remakes/live actions? And another problem is that Hollywood doesn't know how to make good use of actors. William Moselley was super handsome when he was young, if you see old photos of him, he looked like Brad Pitt. Jeremy Sumpter was also beautiful in Peter Pan, but as they were both British, Hollywood didn't care. Leonardo Dicaprio was lucky enough to make Titanic, it kind of immortalized his beauty, but I also think they didn't make good films for him in his youth, he was wasted, even Hailey Joel Osment was better used during childhood. Today, we're seeing them forcing these young actors, who for me don't have half the beauty of Leonardo Dicaprio, and giving them job in a lot of big films, something that NONE of the actors of Leonardo Dicaprio's generation had. It's sad how slow is this industry, they let entire generations of pretty boys pass by. Anyway, while Holliwood destroys itself, calling every ugly actor who appears "the next Leonardo Dicaprio", Brad Pitt continues to be the most searched actor on Google.

If jack and rose were in the door at the same time the door is gonna flip thats why. She cant share the door with him the door cant handle them they wouldve get flipped

Drippy Lindsay actually, Shakespeare never mentions a specific age for Romeo , he could be anywhere from 13-21. I just looked it up (my English teacher told me he was 15) and I think that that goes better with his maturity and his choices throughout.

I feel it's hard to top this depiction of the tragic couple's demise. Juliet is forced to watch the man she loves die instead of finding him dead, while Romeo is forced to die knowing he's made a terrible mistake instead of feeling committed to the act until the very end.

Kuroro2345 honestly, any other version is boring and dull.. Yes you could say it is well more conformed to the story.. but again it severely lacks the dramatic and musical effects. I, too, also watched this film in High School and I must say I've never appreciated such a story written by Shakespeare. It actually made me tear up a little, thus I believe this version is the best one.
