I watched this young woman as she grew from a child to an adult, often at the Grass Valley Festival where I worked as entertainment Coordinator for years, Also knew her father. It was Wonderfull seeing her musical talent develop. One thing has struck me about how this music has changed over the years. Carter and Ralph, Bill, even second generation musicians and vocalists all have performed drawing from their personal experience, from the Post WWII time until the recent past. Being almost 80 years old the older music speaks more me than this. Listening to performers with this level of talent I am reminded that I am unfamiliar with the elements of their life That motivates their music. We can no longer expect songs that spring from the Rural background that the founders experienced. We can no longer find new songs that spring from the same context that brought us Blueridge Cabin Home, Tennessee 1949 and other songs of this type. It is bitter sweet to see how the music has developed. This young woman is as talented as they come, we can't expect her to follow the tracks of Cater and Ralph, Larry Sparks, even Charlie Waller and the Country Gentlemen. I guess we old-timers will have to play the old ones ourselves and learn to enjoy this newer music, especially when it is as well done as this is; Congratulations Molly, I like what you are doing, especially the high standards you have brought to the music.. You are still in the process of forming your own sound, listen to your experience but don't forget where the music came from. God's Blessings
Donald Denison - well said.
Tony Rice grew up in Los Angeles.
@@danworth3669 YES HE DID, I BELIEVE HIS FAMILY MOVED HERE WHEN HE WAS YOUNG, POSSIBLY FROM FLORIDA, BUT I AM NOT SURE OF THAT.
Donald, thank you for your insights and observations. Great songwriters will often tell you to write what you know about. These young bluegrass artists like Molly and Billy Strings are writing great songs that are going to last. While it's their experiences that go into the writing, they both have great respect for the artists and songs that came before them. The genre does have to grow and stay contemporary to survive. The good news is, the young listeners that artists like Molly attract, will find the old stuff and it will always be appreciated. Because of Molly and a host of other great young artists and bands, bluegrass is probably the most exciting genre of music today.
@@donalddenison8896 He was born in Va moved to Ca at a young age
Wow!! I just read about Molly in the NY Times. I can't believe I am just discovering her. She is an amazing guitar player, one of the best I have seen. She's also a superb singer and songwriter. Just wow!!
Every time I play one of Molly's you tube videos or albums my guitar refuses to come out of its case!
Whatever else is going on in small-mind epoch, there is still magic in the world and this woman shows us some of it.
In this troubled times, this music is a panacea for the soul. Thanks Molly if you ever read this =)
Every so often a very special person comes along that just blows the doors off of every one else .Molly Tuttle you are that person ,you left them all standing out in the rain. And on top of that you are a good soul, nice person, very unique.bless you and thanks for the great music.
Her voice and Lindsay Lou combined with Billy Strings has seriously gotten me through a very tough personal year. It lifts me and inspires me to keep moving and building something more. I simply love them all of them for this.
I worry about the youth and the coming generations, but when I see Molly Tuttle not only can they hold their own they can make it better.
Try Larkin Poe
The guitar chops are impressive enough, but to have that beautiful voice too is amazing.
Genuine, honest, natural talent. This is what music should be about. The of joy creating a great sound and delivering a simple message. Great stuff!
Molly's amazing.
And this band is so much more than Good Enough to Take The Journey with.
I can't get enough of her. Aside from my seething envy of her ridiculous abilities, she's just so damn good.
I am 66 years old and for her to make an impression on me says a lot about her talent. The more I hear the more I want to hear. Thanks Molley for a breath of fresh air in music. Much Love from Alabama! When are you coming to my home state?
same ! Billy Strings brought me to her
They will be at the Sand Mountain Amphitheater in April 2024! 😊
I first heard Molly Tuttle yesterday and I'm amazed at her musicianship. She's incredible on guitar, has a very nice voice and writes beautiful songs the likes of which I never heard before. This is an amazing concert.
Come across Molly Tuttle video demonstrating a guitar. Was so impressed I looked her up. As an Australian I will never love bluegrass particularly, although I can appreciate the skills of any music, and so I personally think its fantastic to see her trying to transcend the genre. Its a long way to the top no matter how much talent you have, and as my dear old dad used to say, "its better to journey than to arrive". Anyhow I bought the cd and hav had a great hour listening to the music. Hope it keeps developing, the very greatest find ways to keep growing.
Her talent is undeniable. she surrounds herself with great musicians which adds to the package. Bravo! Well done!
So gratifying to see Molly's career taking off! Playing larger sit-down venues, performing mostly originals with some covers (as opposed to the other way around), networking with artists, producers and others across the industry, with appearances here, at the Opry, on the cruise last year with several big names, winning IBMA Guitar 2 years in a row. Her voice is transformed from where it was just a few years ago, also her songwriting. Such strength! Beautiful lady!
Thank god for talented people....sure makes life a better place
She's already totally unique to the point where there's nobody like her. During Covid I found Molly, Marcus King, Billy Strings which got me back into Doc Watson and as sad as it is to say I honestly didn't know Tony Rice existed. I haven't been this excited about music since way back when I found Keb Mo and Delbert McClinton.
Molly's right hand is a band all by itself lol
Wow,,just wow...complete package..so glad I stumbled on to this amazing and talented young lady...i,m definitely a fan now!
Sometimes... No. Often, I wonder where all of these wonderful artists come from. Molly and the musicians that she sorrounds herself with are parts of a community of musical artists which can best be described as a breath of fresh and igniting air. 💛
Im new to the party. She is simply amazing. WOW!
How have I not heard of her until now? I love her guitar playing. Her music has a great feel.
I am most definitely a fan now.
I get to see Molly play whenever She comes to London, always the best show of the year by far!
When I take the time to listen/watch a video twice its good. After the 5th time its DAMN good. This is a superstar. No doubt about it.
I watched a video a few weeks ago with Molly and Tommy Emmanuel tearing it up. They were both having a lot of fun. It was great picking. Molly is very special. She has amazing technique. She doesn't use feedback to hide bum notes. She just plays all the notes in the correct sequence :) and doesn't grandstand. She's a very impressive young woman.
Good I'm glad to hear you were tearing up . 😭😭😭😭Now I don't feel so bad I guess this happens when we get old. And deeply appreciate excellent talent of this wonderful Beauty. She is the very best I have heard in a. Very long time . Excellent Excellent 👍👍👍🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Good enough for me, actually I can't get enough of Molly Tuttle, Pure Gold!!!
Now I've seen everything. Claw-hammer on a guitar.
First time I’ve seen her use it, great!
Doesn't Neil Young play clawhammer style on some of his acoustic stuff?
Sweetness😊🎈
Dear Molly, I just discovered your music, watching your guitar classes and vocalizations and they and you immediately captured my imagination. That is hard to do since I have the attention span of a squirrel at 70 years old. I hope you will have a long and happy career full of rewarding music and experiences and lots of love. (It looks like you already have that in your life, and that sure makes me happy.) Thanks for your music and you.
Thank you Molly for sharing your music with mere peons.
What an amazing person an a great performer, such a joy to watch her.
I became a recent fan of her :) Got her new album last night!
Love what you do Molly ! ! ( your band also ) You're the BEST female guitarist / singer/songwriter/ entertainer out there and most likely ........be hearing from you for many years to come ! When you have "real talent" and a voice that's easy to listen to, you don't need all the flash, dancers, smoke ! :-) Hope to make one of your concerts some day. :-)
Shes amazing, to me her songs put you in the trance of just “feeling good”
that rain and snow is awesome
A living treasure.
Best recording I've heard of this very talented lady. Thanks WGBH for bringing her to new fans and old ones too with top quality in the age of YouBoob junk.
You might like Larkin Poe.
I've been watching Molly in her family band (was known as The Tuttles with AJ Lee) for some 10 yrs now so it's nice to see she is making a name for herself now. Check out those old vids here on you tube, you'll be impressed. Same with AJ Lee and Blue Summit.
OMG - what a talented powerhouse - guitar virtuoso - song writer - singer - and cute as hell - I'm now a fan ....
Absolutely astounding performance by the sound crew. This was as good as the Grimey's Aqua Vinyl video, and Fraser had an audience to take into account. I was expecting and got a great performance by Molly, having seen several solo acts, and Christian Sedelmyer, Sam Howard, and Nick Falk add a special magic.
Cold Rain and Snow! Yes! That was truly great! I am floored!
this woman is a gift to mankind
I believe you meant humanity
Even with such enormous talent/study/preparation, Molly is such an unassuming, approachable person. Eagerly awaiting seeing/hearing Molly live again this July, and "tagging along" wherever Molly wants to go next, musically. Fun trip, that.
Wow, Molly! It's so obvious that you have transformed into this authentic version of your self! Nice work!
Jesus, this video hits you in the face right from the jump! If you were unsure at all, Molly grabs you and pulls you in immediately.
An amazing, stellar performance. The entire session is recorded in mono, but you hardly even notice. Molly's performance is just that riveting and inspiring.
recorded in mono?
@@WGBHMusic Sure sounds like it. I don't hear any left-right separation of voice or instruments. Everything's in the middle.
Just discovered her recently.Great stuff.
same, so glad I did
A truly dedicated musician/singer: every time I happen to hear her I find that she's improving or trying something new. Way to go, Molly!
She keeps getting better! Great camerawork and sound!
I could watch Molly play and sing all day. This was a great performance!
Absolutely brilliant work on the sound and camerawork, WGBH and a great set by Molly. Only discovered here recently and was blown away by her guitar skills, but her songwriting and vocals are excellent too. Stunning talent.
Wow! What an amazing sound. Molly you are such a lovable person - I love all your performances! Thank you indeed for your music.
She bares so much soul into her emotional voice, just beautiful
Just saw her on CBS This Morning! 💗
j94ta I hope more people find her music. Such a beautiful artist
What an inspiring concert! As a guitarist, I came to know Molly Tuttle as a great and iconic guitarist of the current time. But she is so much more. She is that rare and genuine artist, a songwriter whose songs touch us all at so many different levels, and a hauntingly amazing performer drawing us to her arts through raw and sincere humanity yet intertwined with vocal and guitaristic wizardries. She is and will be bringing bluegrass so much more into the mainstream.
By the way, I checked out WGBH Music channel. You guys are amazing. Just subscribed. Channels like yours are what makes life worth living.
This song so distinct real and poignant just beautiful. I just brought it jan. 1st 2020. This kind music is what we need not an electronic freeze dried ready made package factor made to serve as a song . Noone is perfect, the raw human element in the singer the emotion is what resonant with the audience period; that connection which encompassed on all levels. Thanks to Fil Henley at wings of pegasus channel on youtube, he does analysis on stars and legends music. He said Ms. Molly's music singing and guitar spot on excellent. Just almost perfectionism believe and I agreed especially the guitar. I am left handed guitar, violin and relearning after my accident . This song just hit me and had to buy it,and that's good enough for me..... Good evening and Happy New Year. Thanks.
Drummer is top notch musical artist
My new favorite artist.
Super! Molly..the big!
She the best female guitarist I ever seen. Wow.
I can't believe that anyone would leave you out in the cold (Rain And Snow)...hope you were singing about "a friend".
You deserve the best!
So Good. She is still on such an upward trajectory it's hard to fathom. She's an excellent writer, as well as player and singer. She's the full package (and she does Jerry tunes!)
A chilling version of Rain and Snow. Stunning.
Rain and snow. My new favorite song.
If you want a quicker version, Pentangle does a good one.
This is the first I’ve heard of Molly. I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to checking out more.
Love this!
hi molly u r by far one of the best flatpickers ive ever heard keep it up.
amazing performance, bravo Molly, many thanks
Better late then never. I just discovered Molly. Love!
Welcome to the party. She has tons of stuff on youtube. Also check her out with the Goodbye Girls and her family band the Tuttles. And, if you're interested, her brother plays a mean guitar too. He's in a band called Blue Summit.
@@lukeroberts6019 thanks. Much appreciated!
Molly you've made this guy a fan! You're incredibly talented and I love the music you make.
Aah Yes,,Thanks for the post,, WGBH Music live at the Fraser
Stunning and brilliant as always!
Molly awesome concert. Priceless.
Thanks for being you.🎉
Nice to see Molly receiving such well deserved recognition. Her clawhammer technique on "Save This Heart" & "Take The Journey" is just jaw dropping. Her excellent band is balanced in the mix perfectly by the crew at WGBH. At only 26, this former child prodigy, has blossomed into a bonafide bluegrass superstar. So classy and humble in interviews, I look forward to her increased popularity and collaborations with other artists. Fun Fact: The host, Brian O'Donovan, (with the Irish accent) is the Father of Aoife O'Donovan - I'm With Her, Crooked Still.
Interesting. Lots of great Roots Music in Boston.
I love Irish accents, so it was a little treat at the end there for me, before the encore. "Moe-lly TUTT-tul!" Brilliant!
LOVE THIS!!!!! Thank you!
Absolutely lovely! Wonderful!
Beautiful! Thank you, shared.
Wonderful music at the highest level, as usual from Molly Tuttle!
