Have you tried Filipino coffee? ☕️
No but I love you videos
No buts sounds good
No
Yup cuz im filipino.
As long as it has sugar. Thats the taste i like.
You got me with "doesn't make my stomach hurt". I can't drink coffee any more because it tastes great going down but feels like drain cleaner in my stomach. I have got to try Filipino coffee now. Thanks, Jeanelle
Have you considered trying decaffeinated coffee?
My mom has the same issue with regular coffee until she tried decaf.
Thats one of the things i like about coffee especially in the morning. It does scrub your stomach like a brush. I feel like a pound lighter after it.
There’s different reasons, why coffee can make your stomach hurt/make the “coffee runs” too err runny…
1. The acidity. Robusta (which these Philippino beans most likely were) has a much lower acidity level. That’s because the beans soak in the flavors of the actual berry flesh around them and because robusta is not grown as high up as Arabica, the berries are also less flavorful and acidic.
2. The caffeine. Then coffee that has had the caffeine removed is for you. Or there are some rare strands of Ethiopian Arabica, that are actually almost completely without caffeine naturally.
3. It’s not the caffeine it self doing that whole “coffee runs” thing happen though. It’s something else in coffee beans and even decaf has the same effect on humans
4. Unfortunately coffee is very complex. So there are literally hundreds of reasons why it can make a persons stomach hurt. I had a ex coworker explain it to me once (worked in a roastery and she was studying nutrition science) but it was too complicated to rmr. Basically just try robusta or very dark roasted (acidity goes down the longer you roast the beans. It literally burns off) or decaf. If those don’t work then don’t do coffee. You can get caffeine from mate, tea and sodas instead. Also the caffeine’s in them are all a little different between each other, so one might work better for you.
@@simplydelicious472 No, decaf is actually more acidic. If decaf doesn't hurt her it's likely that her pain is for a different reason.
try French press! its less acidic, same with cold brew. I am very careful about what coffee i drink because of my stomach condition and the pain it can cause! hope this helps!
Whenever I go up Baguio, I buy a kilo at the public market. Way cheaper and can buy the beans or have it ground right there. It's strong but not bitter. I usually take mine black, sometimes I add a teaspoon of brown sugar, muscovado or coco sugar. Also tried the Kalinga rice coffee. That's one of the best. Not too strong and has that naturally sweet flavor.
I used to live in Baguio, and local coffee there is one of the things I miss. And yes to the Kalinga rice coffee! yum yum!
yess idk what its called but we bought coffee granules in baguio, its not beans but its not powder either. its effin delicious and i will buy if i ever go to baguio again
Tried it before when I visited an Army buddy of mine in San Diego just after I left the service in ‘95 and before moving to Australia. It was really nice black, not very strong and goes really well with the purple sticky rice pudding topped with toasted coconut.
this is this first time i've seen a barako being steeped instead of boiled with brown sugar 😯 we use batangas barako since that's from our hometown lol
@@starchy101 ow same... i also live here in cebu.. and i always order batangas coffee sa shopee..😊
It's called cold brew but normally u have to steep it at least 16hrs. Can do room temp or leave it in your fridge. I usually prepare my cold brew the day before then I'll have it next day
@@Fayery_Random_YT me too. I use barako for cold brew bec it's cheap and benguet arabica for other brewing method
It's better as cold brew
@@pedrositocold brew barako? damn i need to try that.
as a Brazilian, seeing a coffee this light in color makes me think it's just tastes like water 😭😭😭
Haha me too. I'm a Filipino but it usually doesn't look like that. It depends on how you brew your coffee. We have a lot of variations of coffee and my fave smells nutty and caramelly without the nuts and the sweet stuff. I don't know how they did it but because of that, I can drink them straight black coffee because of that amazing aroma. Mostly our coffee beans are dominated by two kinds - Arabica and Robusta.
@@fellynempeynado6826 ooh that's sounds really interesting!!!! hoping to taste filipino coffee now hehe
Lol I agree, I thought the same thing!
@@fellynempeynado6826 FYI most of the coffee around the world is arabica or robusta (or blend ofc)
@@nivedyaraj852 ahaha silly me, of course. On this video BTW is a Philippine Liberica coffee bean. This type of coffee bean is much more available in our Luzon area(which is now considered extinct) and I'm from Visayas which blended coffee beans(excelsia, robusta, arabica) are dominant, I only tasted these Liberica beans a few times and I don't quite like the sharp smell of it. Some ppol say it is the epitome of resilience and fortitude. And, are not for the faint of heart.
Maybe that's the reason why they're brewing it that way.
You should definitely try Turkish coffee! It’s very popular in the balkans!
could we get behind the scene when youre doing your voiceover that would be awesome haha! oh wow when I read filipino coffee i think about 3in1 haha. I'm currently on that viet coffee hype now in Seattle 😎
my broke ass looking at my ₱3 nescafe stick: 🗿🗿
Teofilo is a really premium artisan Filipino brand. Love them
Learned my lesson to always eat before drinking strong coffee. Acidic really torture the stomach if empty.
Add a little bit of salt
Common Filipino coffee is a 3in1 instant coffee that taste like 75% sugar 15%creamer 10% coffee
As a 3in1 drinker yessss i agree lmaoo even if its black
Me too
That's what I was thinking since it's typical for Filipinos to drink 3in1, surprised it wasn't mentioned
Nescafe should pay Filipinos and Mexicans for free advertisement lol. 3-1 and Nescafe clasico are staples and found memories of these nations.
Please savor Filipino coffee without creamers/sweeteners. Heaven.
I’m a Filipino and must say that it’s really good! My favorite beans are from Amadeo, Baguio, and Batangas ❤️
When I was young going to the hometown of my mom in Batangas we had rice laced with barako coffee and fried fish.
Barako used to be the king of Filipino coffee varieties outside the country. I can also drink it black without my stomach hurting.
I have yet to try other varieties like that from Sagada
Love you Janelle!! Your cheery demeanor always brightens my day. Thanks for being yourself it is inspiring.
one word: underrated
That looks SO good!
actually, it doesn't. Real Filipino coffee is dark.
coffee on tap is what I need in my life! 🙌
My family on my dad’s side is from Batangas, so whenever they come visit the US they always bring a bunch of Barako coffee from there 😍
I used to love benguet coffee but now I can’t handle caffeine 🥲 switched to black rice coffee and it tastes good so far! The one i got from surigao has a tablea/ chocolate-like mild sweetness to it.
She loves it so much she has it on tap!!!
I absolutely miss this 😭
You guys are so adorable!
We also do have a rice coffee in the Philippines. It just tastes great with Puto or Bibingka- both are rice cakes. Yum! 😍🍵
It’s healthy coffee cos it’s organic love that too❤️🥂
Thank you so much
It's delicious 😋
Done to you, keep up the good work and thank you for sharing Filipino coffee, this one is nostalgic!🤗👍
When you've tried civet coffee, then you've had a 'Filipino coffee.' The Philippines was once a major supplier of coffee to the world in the 1800s, so the pedigree is definitely there. Not mention we have the perfect climate to grow all four coffee varieties.
There’s 6-7 varieties depending on wether or not you count Geisha as it’s own or under Arabica. But even if only counting the four most known/grown/popular, really only robusta is grown in the Philippines. Because even though it’s possible to grow for ex. Arabica, it’s not very smart, because the climate, soil nor altitude are, unfortunately, good enough for rally outstanding crops. And to grow just mediocre arabica doesn’t really make sense, when there are already massive amounts of that harvested in Brazil every year. So to focus on getting exceptionally good Robusta is a much better plan.
Miss my grandma’s coffee coming from her coffee trees ahhhh I miss my grandma too💖
Yes
It's called kapeng barako in the philippines.
The source of the coffee grounds is just our municipality neighbor!! The coffee featured said "Maramag Barako" which it came from Maramag, Bukidnon!!😍😍😍... and I am from Valencia...
how is it different from Kapeng Barako of Batangas? or are they the same?
You wish it's about the soil. Roasting time and temperature is what gives everything to coffee.
Ok..
You should try blonde roast coffee from yemen or any coffee from yemen. We call it qahwa (coffee in arabic)
Filipino coffee is what we call Kapeng Barako. It is known for packing a heavy caffeine punch and strong flavor, perfect for drinking hot during night shifts at work.
Is that kapeng barako? If not, you should try it. It's strong and flavorful!
I’ve been looking for barako coffee here in Virginia!
The only filipino coffee I know is 3-in-1 😅
HAHA LOSER! 😁
Help define mellow
I wish I knew where we could buy Filipino coffee here in Juneau!
U got me at the teophila coffee 😂😂
I actually grow my own coffee in the Philippines!
Barako is the best! It's the only coffee I can drink black too. Others need to be in a latte since I don't like the weird fruity, acidic taste.
love the barako coffee, I prefer drinking it black
if you want to have coffee that's less acidic and bitter , get a cold brew pitcher on Amazon, they're like 20$ , cold brewing doesn't extract some parts od the grounds that make it more acidic and bitter. You have to use more coffee grounds but it's totally worth it.
That’s tea
Very interesting
Masarap ☕️ sanud ♨️🌺
Kape Barako is the best coffee!
Sis has her own cold brew fridge & keg??? Whaaaat!!!!
How does the coffee from a tap thingy work? I need that in my stressful life
Fyi barako is liberica and it’s also found in Vietnam not just the Philippines. :)
Every in the middle of 11pm to 2am
I live in Hawaii and have eaten a lot of coffee grounds and dirt in my life.
It’s like coffee tea basically
In New York, you can get Filipino coffee from Kabisera
I'm a Filipino and i didn't even know we have filipino coffee, i only know 3in1 hahahahaha
Vietnamese coffee is the best. More delicious than Starbucks coffee. I told the locals over there, they don't believe me.
Me as a Filipino I love coffee
Yes and whenever we travel we buy a kilo of it then turn it into cold brew
Can you show how to cook okra
Thanks‼️
Barako is the rarest type of Liberica coffee in the world and has the highest caffeine content.
I am amazed that there is not more Philippino products here in the states. I also live in California and my family has 5 generations of Philippino/American heritage as part of it's huge family tree. And I know so many people who have either immigrated here or are also multi generation Philippino/Americans. Yet it is only in the last few years that I have seen restaurants and stores...of course I live in the Mojave so maybe it just took awhile despite the large comunity of Philippino heritage in my city (we are are own little landlocked island out here, If it were not the desert it would be perfect!)
P.s. maybe only 2 generations, I am counting my sister inlaw and her mother and her mothers parents. Her father is of Scottish/Cherokee heritage.
Try Tabuk or Kalinga coffee...
Represent … 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🇵🇭
Whoa I gotta try this one. After 20 years of coffee, my stomach can't handle it anymore. I wanna try it and find out if Filipino coffee is good for my stomach
Albanian coffe is bussin
“Vietnamese coffee” is usually Robusta instead of Arabica. Her saying that the Philippino coffee is deep, full bodied, melow and less acidic probably means that those beans were Robusta as well. So yeah, less acidic but also less flavor, notes and complexity. But most likely more caffeine though! (Robusta usually has 1,5-3x more than Arabica). Nothing to do with the volcanic soil (even though soil DOES play a big part with coffee, but really only when in context of Arabica. Robusta does not and will not have that much difference, no matter what). Robusta is mostly used with espresso blends and therefore works well as a base for milk based espresso drinks
Where can I get some in Northern CA?
Filipino coffee:me:OH YOU MEAN NESCAFE?
😂😂😂😂
Maramag Barako!! That’s near us!!
Maramag barako ❤
Next video please, feature civet coffee I know it cost a fortune to buy just a pound but it would greatly enhanced and expand their taste pallet for those who haven't tried it...
Kapeng barako supremacy 😋
Jeanelle, seriously..
IMO, somebody in the Philippine gov't should get you as food ambassador here in the States, (is there such thing?) for sharing the food and culture of Filipino.
Oh, i tried Amadeo coffee, from, well... Amadeo, (Cavite), Ph.
it is good as well. 'available in Seafood City market before.
The coffee came from Maramag,Bukidnon?
What about Irish coffee.
You should start a food shack named Filipinos dishes or whatever you wanna name it but you should start making Filipino food for other people so they can experience your cultures food
It might taste like Hawaiian coffee because Hawaii has some Filipino influence
Is this kapeng barako?
"have you ever have filipino ........"
always the intro 😅
Me who drinks my lolas sara-sara (corn coffee)
Tried to down a cup when I was 5. Puked into the toilet before trying to do the same thing again.

So that's why. I just realized it after seeing this. I always drink my coffee black but when my mommy (tita) sent me coffee from Ohio it didn't taste good and gave me a stomach ache.
I’m talking like i ✨KNOOoo0w✨ how to describe it
In the ph they drink Nescafé and Kopiko lol
Whenever I hear filipino coffee the first thing that comes to myind is Kapeng Barako.
