Please look at the whole context, not just part as Andrew is doing. The SUBJECT of who is taking heed to build in are saints, not unsaved false gospels preachers. False gospel preachers do not suffer a loss of reward and still are saved so as just by fire. They are false gospel preachers and were never saved.

The bible has a lot say about rewards. It is a very helpful doctrine, especially when discussing soteriology with calvinists. They say “what if you become a Christian and do nothing? No fruit??” Well, there is a consequence and we will care. It’s not about getting the jewelry - but pleasing the Giver of the reward. This is not about salvation.
This teaching does not lead to freaking out about judgement day. That’s a straw man.
And the parable of the vineyard just emphasizes the great generosity of God.
It’s not about “stuff” in heaven, cricks in necks, we will no longer have selfish impulses to brag either or covet.
Thomas cucuzza does a great job on this teaching as does Charlie Bing. There is an excellent book by Theodore Epp on this topic - life changing.
The idea of a reward also gives meaning to the many many dire warnings passages - with threats of loss. Many people fear loss of salvation. No, but if you keep in mind the verses refer to a reward, it becomes meaningful (and not terrifying).
It’s ok. The bible talks about it - ultimately the reward is Christ Himself.
Also, Andrew throws out the false dichotomy of rewards AND punishments. Those who preach about rewards emphasize there is NO punishment at judgement day, though the bible does speak of rewards.
Those who do believe that God offers rewards do not crave bling and big mansions. This is also a caricature. They do not do good works with a shallow motivation.
Otherwise, the teachings of Andrew Farley have been of tremendous help and blessing to me personally.

Yes, agreed, but Andrew needs to be learned on this topic, as he is partly in error of his assessment of "who" is responsible to building in. It is every saint, not just "chief men among the brethren." For only saints get to build in, and not false gospel preachers. Again, false gospel preachers could never suffer loss of reward and be saved so as just by fire, only saints. No, all the lost do not receive the same degree of punishment. "And you Corinth who have been lifted up to heaven..." As opposed to Corazon and Bethsadia. So in like manner, EVERY SAINT, because we all are responsible to build in. Gain or loss of reward. Different degrees of joy and fellowship, and responsibility, and privilege, and blessing here, which carries on in His presence when we depart to be with Him by sight. The WHOLE context reveals this.

If there are crowns in heaven, the whole thing will be absent of selfishness or showoff-ness, so it doesn't make sense for you to criticize it as being laced with fleshly pursuits when that won't be a part of it at all. It is also mistaken to assume that any passage or parable that mentions rewards is taking about the same thing. That's how bad doctrine is formed when you don't consider the unique context.

  • @yeshuaneitheristheresalvat8018

The title of this message partly is unscriptural. "Every day ...or loss of rewards." The loss of rewards is a definative statement of missing out due to a life of selfishness and not for Christ. Not already having gained a reward and then losing it. Loss of reward is never having gaind one and suffering the loss of Jesus' commendation etc... See the opposite, "...will by no means lose his reward," Jesus said. Rewards gained here are never lost. None gained here means you suffer loss because you never gained one here, you missed out on your opportunity. And yes, any reward earned, or treasure laid up in heaven will be enjoyed in light of, and with Jesus, to the praise of Gods excellence!

So truly saved Christians when they get to heaven will not have their good and bad deeds weighed against them? Not for salvation obviously but for their reward?

2 Corinthians 5, 10: "For we must all appear before the Judgement seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." See also Galatians 5, 19-21, and Ephesians 5, 3-5, where Paul gives whole lists of sins and ends with "they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God", respectively "no [such] person [...] hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God".
Case closed, if you ask me. Of course our deeds will get weighed against us. And therefore no-one but the really pure is "truly saved".

You just read a whole bunch of scripture that contradicts your point. I am just going to say, what do you do with all those precious stones, gold and silver that doesn't get burned up with the wood hay and stubble?
From my perspective, preaching heaven is communism is stealing people's rewards.
What kind of Christian preaches that you are better off doing nothing for the body of Christ because the reward is the same, regardless if you suffer persecution, imprisonment, or martyrdom.
There won't be greed, envy, or covetousness in heaven, but there will certainly be rewards and responsibilities in a hierarchy system.
If heaven equals communism, why was satan special? shouldn't all angels be the same? What about Michael? Cherubs? hmmmmmm not looking so communist.
If that only applies to Angels, why are Moses and Ellias speaking to Jesus on the mount of transfiguration? They were important people on Earth, but according to you they are just like everyone else in heaven.
Should a person's life revolve around rewards in heaven, NO
Does that mean they don't exist? NO

  • @yeshuaneitheristheresalvat8018

There is only 1 judgement for CHRISTS SHEEP, the Bema (the judgement seat of Christ.) Only believers there. "But let EVER PERSON Andrew. We all build in either gold, silver, and precious stones, or wood, hay, or stubble. It is nowhere a comparison between true and false gospels. Most of the parables have to do with gain or loss of reward. Look at the whole book of Hebrews.
As there are degrees of punishment in the lake of fire, so to degree of rewards or loss of rewards, or ruling and reigning or not, or being at the wedding feast or not. "Again Andrew, "let every person take heed." Where does Lord Jesus teach us that every saint will receive the same, whether they lived a self serving, selfish, fleshly life, or a FAITHFULL Christ honoring life? No where Andrew, but just the opposite. Mark here Andrew, if anyone build in wood, hay, and stubble, they will suffer loss of reward (only believers) "but they themselves will be saved, so as just by fire." False gospels preachers are not saints, and saints are the subject. And the whole New Testament is replete with our Masters teaching in this area for the saints.
