    Can't help but look at the little girl running carefree at 2:06
    She seems 7-8 years old. Meaning she was born about 125 years ago.
    Whats even more fascinating is that every single face here had a unique life and a unique story. And we will never know them, beyond a single glimpse of their face.

    In last 100 years life has improved drastically, my mother tells me when they where kids they would often skip meals because there was no food, sometimes they would eat a weird kind of barley which would make them sleep for 2 days because it was difficult to get food and sleeping children would not feel hungry or cry for food.
    My grandfather would often work as laborer in farms, if there is no work he would walk far away in towns to beg for food that was in 1970s.
    I feel lucky to be born in 90s when life had improved significantly

    My grandfather was a freedom fighter and he was from Assam, North-East India. He was a handsome guy, a drama actor, a football player, he was one of the coolest guy I know. Me and and my cousins used to watch WWE with him, played carom (where he always used to defeat us). During independence movements, he devoted himself to Gandhi and his movement as most of the people. He even joined Khadi Board because he was very inspired by Gandhi's Swaraj movement. Even till his death, he never wore pant and shirts, he used to wear dhoti and kurta everywhere. He died at 92 years old after battling with alzheimer for 3 years.

In 1971, when I visited a town smaller than Madurai not far away, the bullock carts were still in use as public transport, with no motor car taxis. Brahmin men with shaved heads were only amongst people who were older than 70 or so. Around 1935 or so, young guys stopped shaving their heads.

      while it's true the British did a lot of evil things, but "India" didn't exist as a single country before. • @polderdebanjan
      @polderdebanjan Před 4 lety +10

      It is controversial, but a lot of the present problems in India are due to the fact that India is a country. It is simply too diverse to be a single country. I know not one nation which has similar cultural, ethnic and religious diversity and is developed. The US has a lot of ethnic diversity perhaps, but there is a lot of homogeneity in the societal fabric and overall infrastructure, unlike India. A state like West Bengal is absolutely different from something like Rajasthan or Uttaranchal. The ambition to make India great one day, on par with the western economies, is a commendable one, but it just might be too ambitious. I surely hope it happens, but I don't see the problems going away soon.

    It is because of resilience and struggle of these people that even after the brutal, ugly, barbaric and violent British rule- we still have a country which has diversity, democracy and strength. As a country we have suffered so much from colonialism to invasions but still never had chaos of a civil war or a breakdown of the nation. God bless 🇮🇳 ❤

    Golden era. I observed the citizens, nobody having fatty belly's. They all are very strong. What a body shape. Chest, biceps and their total body was awesome. No air pollution, No sound pollution, No pollutions in their minds. They are cool.
