- Today, we're looking at this super cheap action camera, the SQ11 Mini DV Camera, and also going over its instructions and how to use the SQ11 mini dv Camera. Its pretty tricky when your first setting up the sq11, but with the help of an instructional video like this one, you'll be using your sq11 in no time ;)

overall, the sq11 mini dv camera has a lot of different modes, but it can also do a ton of really cool stuff making it a great cheap action camera, or good just as a random extra camera.
the night vision mode on the sq11 is particularly cool, especially considering how cheap this camera is!

how about a camera that works? That would be a novelty- A Chinese micro cam that actually works. The SQ11 I bought is worthless. it does not do 1080, and the audio and video is jerky, and I'm using a fast 32g card. complete garbage

Perfect video, clear and concise! The manufacturer should just print the link to this on a slip of paper and throw away the horrendous, nonsensical factory instructions. I read them carefully several times and could not make heads or tails of them.
Nowdays, instructions come with micro text. You need a microsope to read them.
Engrish can be entertaining in and of itself but not when you're trying to glean actual information from it, with a magnifying glass at that.

Cool. Your video is a lifesaver. I bought a couple of these sq11’s for cab view model railroad video, but the English instruction translations were making me feel like I was having a stroke! I have had these for almost a year, but every time I went to use it the instructions would frustrate me and I’d put it away again. Thankfully your clear demonstration of how to opera this has given me the confidence to try again.
Ha Ha! Dont even try to make sense of the instructions, I laughed so hard at them. This is a pretty good demo, I have several, still trying to make them operate.

the main selling points of this camera, imo, is the small size and weight. along with the low price that makes it practical for applications where you dont want to use a high quality camera. for example, mounting it to radio controlled cars or planes, drones, model rockets, attached to the collar of your dog or cat, etc. if it gets lost, stolen, broken you dont have to cry about it, and if its not, you can get some cool action shots of what your cat does when wanders outside. maybe even trying to catch a bird or something.

I'VE HAD THE CAMERA FOR A WHILE NOW BUT TODAY WAS THE FIRST DAY I TRIED TO USE IT (EMPHASIS ON THE TRY) (stupid caps lock!)
I went to a swap meet and clipped it to my shirt, the first video walking from my truck to the entrance and beginning my shopping was about 9 minutes long but because I didn't trust that it was actually recording with no blinking lights I pressed and held the power button and the blue light would come on so I pressed it again... Blue light blinked 3 times and shut off... After the initial video all the other videos are less than a minute long... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Also when it arrived it came with other products and ive been racking my brain trying to figure out what I NOW know is the stand. Hey dude great review but 2 points of improvement: 1. to change the date or disble the date you don't need to take out the sd card and plug it into the computer. You can connect the camera directly to computer with sd card in it and use file manager to access the text file. 2. you explained everything except how to charge the battery of camera and what color LED is on while charging and after fully charged.

How to charge
IF you have a fake model, as I do - these are almost certainly actually using a 640x480 sensor, at least for the model I have.
On the model I have at least, there's only one video recording setting, which is actually 1280x960(from checking the file details in Windows), ie: exactly doubled resolution both horizontally & vertically(quadrupled total resolution). Photos are the same resolution.
When used as a webcam, the max resolution is 480p, 30fps.
4:3 format, 640x480, 30fps = all of these match standard definition NTSC(USA,Japan etc) video. ie: it's most likely a bottom of the barrel sensor, which is being scaled up(which is pointless, it doesn't improve quality). This would also make the analog composite video output easy, as the sensor itself is probably already using that format. Even for 640x480, the quality is poor.
The infrared/night-vision also doesn't seem to work, I think the 'LEDs' are fakes.
It's weird how products that are already low quality, get copied.
I got a fake one, and this one looks like it's plastic dipped but the fake one is just glossy plastic.

this is the 3rd video i have watched to try and understand how to use this camera. yu all seem to jump a step or 10 between taking it out of the box and turning it on!!!. ok so i plugged it in to charge it. the light was not red it was blue and flashed for about 90 minutes then went solid. now what? when i ask the computer to eject it so that i can take the camera away from the computer to use - the computer says it is in use and if i unplug it it's fubarred. the box says that in the unlikely event you need help they will be glad to assist but there is of course no way to contact ''them''. can you help?
I'm pretty sure flashing blue means recording so if that's coming up while charging try holding down the power button to try and turn it off maybe? also, try charging with a wall adapter if you can as the computer may be causing issues, but I'm not too sure
I don't have a computer I bought this about 5 months ago and finally got the SD card for it there's got to be a way to Connect it to a phone!? I hope so. Maybe I can take the SD card out and put it into my phone to view the footage. Can someone plz reply 😩

If you have a small hand held digital camera for taking pictures that cord fits. My camera came with both and works great!

why does my sq11 turn off after a few seconds of blue light? it charged for some time, so the battery shouldn't be empty. maybe it's broken? does it stop charging if it's full?
Make clear what exactly you want to know. When charging, the lights turn off when fully loaded. When recording, the lights will flash and then turn off.

2:32 Double blink indicates that night vision has been activated. To stop press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. Only then the LED will blink three times indicating that night vision has been deactivated. You have actually deactivated the mod. Once activated you can go through the mods, it will remain active.

To you who don't know to use motion detection, you need to press power button once and it becomes blue. From there click and hold mode button for 3 seconds. Now you are in motion detect mode.
Very impotrant thing is that the device is connected to power supply while in this mode, other way it doesn't work. Np

Manual says up to 100 minutes of battery per charge.
Didn't tested shooting until its ran out of battery but I found is that the camera may keep recording but it split the record and make another video file while recording.
My SQ11 split the video file when it records around 5 minutes of video.
You forgot to say how to do motion detection.

Cheat Sheet/Faqs/Guide Link for this video:
1. Press power, Mode = ☆BLUE: 720p☆. Press power to record, light flashes/turns off and you've activated the function, as in all modes. Hit power to stop.
2. Press Mode again (or 2x from home), turns ☆RED&BLUE: 1080p☆. Pwr to start (lights go out) & Pwr to stop.
☆Night Vision☆: From 1080p⬆️hold power for 2sec. Red flashes 3x. Hit pwr once to start rec, (it flashes red/blue 3x & lights go off: recording.) Pwr to stop.
3. Press Mode again (3x from home), mode ☆RED, PHOTO☆. Hit power to shoot. Use mode or power down to exit photo mode.
☆Motion Detection: in 720 or 1080p, b4 recording, hold mode for 3 secs. R&B LEDs flash when motion is detected. Saves every 5mins.
•To turn off Unit: Hold pwr for 5-10secs, release. If not working, switch mode to home 1st (Blue Lt).
•Remove timestamp: Power off (hold right 5-10secs &release). Pull SD card, open .text file. Edit end from Y to N. - or edit date for accuracy.
•Use as a webcam/rec from computer. *Remove SD 1st* Use app Photobooth or VLC Player.

Brilliant video buddy, very clear and concise. Unfortunately the camera that I bought, was a rip-off. No 1080 recording, and where the night lights are supposed to be, when I stripped it down was just lumps of plastic.

The problem of QS11 cameras and displaying actual date mark lies in the format of TIMEREST.txt file. To show correct time first insert blank memory card into camera. Take your first movie following listed instruction. The camera will create file TIMEREST.txt in the root folder. The format of created file could differs from that shown in manual, therefore change date and time settings from created file to actual values and that is all you need to do to get correct data/time labels in your next movies.

Perhaps doesn't recognize the sd card. Try formatting the sdcard as fat 32

why you never demo the video cable ? i nerd to see on my tv.
Just received it today! But, I have more questions before I can actually use it. The instruction said need to charge 2 ~ 3 hours before using it. And, during charging, the LED indication will flashing till full of charge. But, I didn't mention such flashing on the indication, just always in red light. I follow the steps which show within this video, but obviously it perform in different way. And, the most important, I can't find any files of the video recording or camera capture. I did slot in a 8GB memory card and its function normally. But, when I connect the cam with my pc, it show nothing. Anyone had similar experience like me?

it's pretty good if you don't have the best laptop but still want to call someone through video and be able to move around without getting all blurry. it only gets really hot after like only 5 or 10 minutes so don't want to use it to long in one sitting.

I’ve had the camera for a month unsure how to use. The instructions so confused though your video is great I’m still confused. 😕 If I unplug camera from laptop it stops showing me it’s recording.

Thank you for posting this. I ordered some of these to use in cars for safety and possible wreck recording. The "instructions" are in terrible Chinese English and make NO sense!
My SQ11 keeps flashing red and blue when I let go of the power button. What does that mean?

Micro SD card has to be inserted in the cam.
@@luvcrim be careful doing that too!!, it can be lost inside if you get the card in too far
Just purchased one of these, & feel that it is money down the drain. Mine just will not charge, link with my laptop ect. I will never buy from this company again. I was so looking forward to it, & waited 2 months for it to arrive.
Yes, same here, i bought 3 and for a lot more money than he paid. 2 of them dont even come on and only one of them works for about 20 seconds intermittently. waste of time and money.
What software do I need to work the webcam? The cam that I got only had the USB cable. There was no plug to plug into the TV.

Does this have to be charged up first as mine does nothing but the one blue light. Mine does not have a video plug just the usb. I have to use this wirelessly? (if it has that capability) And do I have to have an sd card in it just to use it for viewing?
