    Have you ever tried super low resource Rhodos?

    Wow, that "Iguana" is playing great... :D
    ...Thanks for commenting my game, it was nice to hear your point of view on my moves! :)
    In first age, I took many blue cards because I thought the ressource cards in these hands were just meh, and I know taking blue cards can be a great strategy as Rhodos. You're right, maybe I should have taken the loom since I didn't have access to it in the end. I didn't really need it either though.
    In second age, I was lucky with Gizah not playing walls. Then I knew I was winning red so I didn't want to "overplay" reds since I was not sure it would be sufficient to win military in age 3. I also knew I was in a very low ressource game so taking gold was mandatory in order not to be blocked. Taking vineyard allowed me to play all the cards I wanted on Age 3.
    At the end of age 2, I knew Age 3 would be hard with so few ressources, but I also knew I had almost won because of the huge lead I had. Very fun game overall! :)

      Fantastic, creative play and a fun game to see commentated. I was wrong about nearly every pick which just gives me more respect for this great game.

    When he picks vineyard, he can see that he is going to win red even without walls and can see that he is likely to have a huge point lead at the end of the second age plus the "pre scored" 10 red points for the third round (from Pistolero's guide). He ends up with what is effectively a 30 point lead (!!!) at the end of the second round [unusually low scores for all other players] but can also foresee being very short on money. The vineyard is way better to be able to buy anything in the third round and be assured of not needing to sell cards to do so. I honestly don't see what walls adds (if he gets walls, Alex can still tie him in age 3 with a single triple red), given the high opportunity cost. My 2 cents

    Can you get a yellow strategy game to review?

    Hello, I’ve just started playing the game and I love it, but I have a question: on the Olympia board what is the difference between the second wonder stage in side a from the first wonder stage of side b?

    • @WonderfulPlays
      @WonderfulPlays  Před 2 lety

      A side
      1st edition: 1 free card per age.
      2nd edition: you can build card for free if you haven't played card in that color in this game.
      B side:
      1st edition: free marketplace + guild copy
      2nd edition: 1st card each age free; last card each age free.

      @@WonderfulPlays Thanks!!
      But in the second edition A side, what happens if you have already played one card for each color when you build the second stage? And what makes the A side better than the B side in your opinion?

    • @LBRTNSTN
      @LBRTNSTN Před 2 lety

      @@filippo6447 2nd edition A only affects cards of colors you have not played previously. If you, as you mentioned, have selected cards from each color, you would not be able to use the bonus for cards with a similar color. That's why it's considered a mistake to choose blues but altar, because it erases your option of getting one free blue card in age 3. As violet cards aren't available until age 3, they cannot be affected by your picks. Regarding your other question: Most players prefer A because of the fact that B requires you to either build grays or expensively acquire them from your opponents. In addition, the ability to build the last card of each age for free is relatively useless. In the second age, it'll be redundant as it probably provides your a resource card for free. And in 3rd age, you'll approximately get either a green or a red or bullshit as your last pick. Hence I also highly prefer the A side. B can situationally be superior, but not that frequently.
