Yes! I'm from Surinam so I also have this history of slavery. The first time I saw my father cry was while watching the series Roots ... and the second time was when I left home to go work as an au-pair/nanny in Britain ... Still we're not free because we carry in our selves the legacy of white history and white ways of looking at us. I don't hate or dislike random people because of this, but .. in Holland where I live and was born and raised every Decembere there is a festival called St. Nicholas and this white person has scores of black servants (actually white people made to look black, with soot on their faces, black curly wigs, red lips and golden earrings, for sure!!!) and many people reason that we have no right to demonstrate against this because it is their (read: white) tradition! I was born here but I don't have the right? I mean, come on! It is 2018 and this is still going on ... Bob M, always relevant! Jah guide and protect us!
