This is NOT a Fox - Maned Wolf.
This is the largest canine in South America.
It's called the Maned Wolf.
However, it's neither a fox nor a wolf.
You see, this canine, native to the grasslands of South America, resembles a fox with a distinctive black mane that can be raised when the animal is threatened or excited.
Interestingly, they have a unique dietary requirement for a fruit called the wolf apple, which helps regulate the digestive system, and makes up the majority of their diet.
They also feed on insects, birds and small rodents.
Despite their resemblance, maned wolves are not closely related to foxes.
Their common features are the result of independent evolutionary pathways responding to similar ecological pressures. This is called convergent evolution.

They are my favorite animals!😍 Fun fact; their urine smells like weed and caused already once many years ago a huge police case near a zoo with maned wolfs, because they thought, they discovered a weed storage or something.
