    I’m from Copan Honduras too.
    It makes me proud we also have some fingerprints of our history as other civilizations, wether good or bad.
    It’s in us, in our blood is Copan.

    I visited Copan in 1983 while my American Army Hospital Unit was stationed at the Honduran Air Base now called Soto Canto.
    Fascinating place.

      Huh, feels like not so long ago. However, the people in this are pretty dated. Anyone notice how the American speech is different? I can often tell when I am listening to someone in the 80s, early 90s.

    The archeologists thought they understood the writings, and created a whole culture about these ancient peoples. Then a later set of archeologists came along, and said that was all wrong. The new archeologists said they translated the language, and created another, wholly different, culture. The video didn't explain how they had the right translation of the writings. So, what's to stop another set of archeologists coming along with another translation? With the Egyptian Hieroglyphics, they had the Rosseta(sp) Stone, was there something like that in this case?

    • @Jan_von_Gratschoff
      @Jan_von_Gratschoff Před 2 lety +3

      Maya isn't a dead language, it's still spoken by the modern Maya, once the basic construction of the glyphs were cracked the rest followed logic. And much like in Egyptian hieroglyphs, not every Maya glyph is translated. For instance Pre-Classical hieroglyphs are to this day a complete mystery to archaeologists.

    The people who build monuments have it wrong! Yet over and over again it happens.
    The Turtle Island Indigenous figured it out.
    Then the Europeans ruined their way of life
    as wrong as it is to build monuments. Its ever worse to try to destroy what's right and good in this world.
    Peace to us all! May stop being evil to one an other and start being kind. Given a choice, if its not kind please don't do it.
