I was half expecting random Americans who think they are Italian because their grandparents lived next to someone who adopted a dog from Italy.... lol
Omg exactly!! 😂

Sameeeee 😂😂😂
Lmao same
This comment has me rolling lmfaoooo
I once brought my italian family to an Olive Garden. I swear I didn’t hear the end of it. My grandmother didn’t talk to me for 3 days. She got mad for spending my money and that she could have made the pasta and sauce herself
good I’m glad that happened to you
Why would you ever think to bring your Italian family to an Olive Garden
DramaticUnicorn_1D because he’s an American
😂😂😂
Hahahahahah lol 😂😂😂
Olive Garden is airplane food for Italians.
Damn
i like airplane food
I've flown with AirItaly a couple of times and trust me - their airplane food is out of this world, I even asked for an extra plate.
I've actually never had Olive Garden before. All my friends are like, "Oh mY gOd! It's sooooooooooooo GoOd" and I'm over here like, "how did I become friends with you?"
more like hospital food
I swear this is legit really the first time I heard a real Italian accent like outside of a movie 😂😂😂
Yeah, pretty much every Italian accent that you hear that's not coming from an italian mouth is 99% fake.

So bloody true!

Actually the authentic rat head in aspic is not cooked at all, barbarian!
we italians are hungry people
Well, they are Italians: big bites are a thing, and you never disrespect food by acting like you say.

obrienize I was diagnosed with rhabdomolysis a few years back and had to spend a month in the hospital. The food was so bad that my aunt had to bring me food from her job nearly every day 😂
That’s exactly why our name tags at Olive Garden say hospitaliano
Take me to your hospital. I live for pasta, good or bad.

I love people that aren’t insecure in their culture and are willing to accept different spin offs of their food! This is rlly nice
It's not about being insecure, what americans do to foreign food is disrespectful. If you wanna make your own food that's fine, just don't call "pasta" "tacos" or "sushi" to something that is not, if americans simply called it "american pasta" nobody would complain.
Pasta is just a general dish. Italians don't have a monopoly on the word pasta.

These grandmas were old Italian Americans living in the US.
Those guys are young Italian people living in Italy.
Italian Americans have a very old concept of Italy. They left a poor country, Italy is now a rich country with a modern society.
The Italian food is always the same (the world's best), but, since we are used to eat different kinds of food, we're not shocked, you know.
@@itsmeandrea138 That is a very good point. Even though, sometimes it makes me feel that Italian people (especially older ones) complain about western food (Italian or not) only for the purpose of keeping the image of 'we have best food, and all the rest is sh-t'. In the same time I think to myself that the complains come because old Italians are used to mainly homemade food (which is of course better than restaurant food cause at home you cook with your soul for the people that you love) so it is normal to be disappointed when eating out. But, I am not Italian, so I really cannot know.
@@natashas.1566 As an Italian (born, raised and living in Italy) I can tell you that we Italians are more used to homamade food (young people, adult people and old people) than other nationalities. I think it's because 'genuine cuisine' was passed down to us but also because in Italy fresh ingredients are cheaper than pre-cooked foods.
But in 2019 we also are used to eat fast food, eating ethnic food, so it's not shoking to eat non Italian authentic food (not good but not shoking 😂).

This was my genuine reaction to having Olive garden for the first time too. I still can't tell if it's god awful cuz I went in with the lowest of the low expectations.
Tapiokapuddin olive gardens my fave restaurant so idk bro
That's the same reaction my friend had. I tried to convince her to go but she always had the attitude of there's so many great restaurants in Little Italy, the Bronx, Brooklyn, why would I want to go to Olive Garden? And after she tried it she was like ok not bad for an Italian Applebee's.
Jun Zheng yeah if your expecting authentic Italian cuisine than you’ll be disappointed. But if you’re expecting affordable Americanized pasta than the food is totally fine. Like do people go to Taco Bell expecting authentic Mexican? Lol people just need to let it be what it is and stop getting upset

When asked if I had real Italian food before, I said yea, "Ive had Olive Garden a few times".
I laughed, thinking it was a funny joke.
The entire room went silent. I looked over at my gf for support, but she just looked down at her plate.

The grandmother stared a hole in me the entire rest of the time I was there.

I have been to almost 40 countries and all over Italy (including Bologna).
The, hands down, best pasta I've ever have had, was in this tiny, tiny village about 50 km east of Palermo (on the northern coast of Sicily) at an even tinier restaurant, with just eight seats inside and six outside (which weren't even proper seats, more like small wodden benches and tables built into a tiny patio made of just wodden planks).
A real Italian nonna had decided to make a few extra Lire, and my family and I had one of the most tasty lunches of our lives.
Omgggg GIVE US THE NAMEEEE
Yesss aaa
@@madaraxsasuke since we haven't been using Lire for 20 years I don't think he's gonna remember it
I had a similar experience but still in America. The people didn’t speak English but they had a small restaurant underneath a apartment building on the boardwalk of Ocean City, Maryland. We also had a experience in Reading one of the worst cities in Pennsylvania. Even poorer and run down then Philadelphia. My sister went to college there. They served giant bowls or plates of pasta and everyone shared. Plus the restaurant was beautiful and they had beautiful cakes. I would like to try some of the stuff in Italy though.

America doesn’t really have food. American food is mainly confectionery, like peanut butter and marshmallow spread. Everything else is European food that Americans try to make.
Not saying it’s bad, I’ve cooked all my life and rarely follow recipes to the T. Because experimenting is always a good thing. Even if you ruin the dinner, you’ll know not to next time
@@janhenson9616 lol the only good European food is Italian. Mexican, Chinese , and Japanese food is more popular in the states. But were the mixing pot of the world.
@@janhenson9616 that is categorically false. Southern cuisine is 100% American, especially Cajun food and American barbecue. Nowhere in Europe do you find plates of fried chicken, turnip greens, mashed potatoes and gravy with cornbread or biscuits and apple butter…let alone Gumbo, Etouffé, etc. New cuisines developed around the ingredients that were most abundant here. You need to give the US more credit than that.
@@jessejamestx8993 I’ll have to heartily disagree on that. French food is world renowned. We just don’t see a lot of it in the US because it’s a very complex cuisine and takes major skill in some cases, plus there are ingredients that are not available readily over here that are abundant in France, like truffle mushrooms. In my personal opinion, German food is also very good. It’s not as diverse as French and Italian food, but it’s very hearty and almost nothing else in this world goes as well with beer. The rest of European cuisine, I agree. Take it or leave it

Alfredo's original sauce is made only of butter and Parmigiano... Americans put garlic, cream, chicken amd other things
Yet we never eat it and don't even know what it is 🤷
dylan freidman
You are right but Alfredo created (just to say, it already existed before) a simply sauce with Parmigiano and burro (true Parmigiano/butter) then with the pasta water (thanks to the starch) the "Alfredo sauce" it's made (three ingredients).
When the recipe it was brought to the Usa (thx two american actors) the sauce become another thing because you add other ingredients (I believe for the poor taste of american products).
So to conclude, the Alfredo sauce that's made in the US it's not the one created in Italy but the american version.

@@julianarocca419 fettuccini alfredo and alfredo sauce were invented in Rome by Alfredo di Lelio. His restaurant is still there, is very famous, and has walls upon walls of photos of all the world leaders and celebrities that have gone to the restaurant to try the original.
That doesn’t exactly relate to Italian food maybe because you have to go to Italy to understand
@@AuraMaster7 yeah but the american version of fettucini alfredo is different
Stefano is SO ADORABLE
italian accents are soooo soothing to listen to
I love them!!!! Bring them back 🙌🙌
2:02 "don't play with your food"
stefano 😍
“Alfredo must’ve been a real cool guy” 😂
His face when they pulled out that breadstick 😂😂😂
OGs breadsticks are like buttered hot dog buns. Too fluffy, and no chew.
they’re so beautiful 🥺
I feel like the judgement is the same with every country's Americanized version of their food
"It's not authentic, it's strange, it's too decadent, it's too big, but it's not bad"
Frankie Lindley haha 😂 that’s an American by definition haha
Well it’s because it’s simply not original
Frankie Lindley not bad compared to hospital meals tho
Nah, there is no such thing as "american paella or moussaka or borscht" americans for some reason just do it to us
I love how she had that shirt on 🙄😭
I’m half african and Italian (my dad side Italian). Love thissss
Quindi sei italiano.
Bello vedere degli italiani nei commenti 😉

@@NoName-hg6cc no he's half african half italian, can you read? or you think men are more important than women so your father's ethnicity also determines your own? sexist much?
“The only alfredo i have ever known was a cuban guy” 😂😂
I live near Bologna and Roberta speaks in a way very familiar to me. I mean, I've got the same accent when I don't concetrate while I speak English, and I, too, esitate every two words. But I think her best line was:"it's like the sugos you buy at the mall." 🤣
I could understand the sugo part b/c it’s in Somali
HAHAHAHAHA sugos mi ha fatto morire
