I remember watching this the night it was originally on television. I was 8 years old. I am a great-grandmother to 10 kids now.

I saw the Beatles live at Shea Stadium in 1966. I swore I was not going to scream or cry. My friend agreed. When they came out of the 3rd base dugout I heard a sound that made me think I was inside a jet engine. I turned to my friend, her mouth open, screaming, tears rolling down her cheeks. Later she told me my mouth was open, screaming, with tears streaming down my cheeks. You just could not help it. It was like a nuclear reaction. Even the guys were screaming where we were.

You are so lucky. I was 7 in Denver when they came to play the Redrock. We got to see them arrive at the airport but no concert😢

That must've been an incredible experience. I never got to see the Beatles play live. I was however at the Isle of Wight festival in 1970 so I think we're even 💯.
I am frae Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 When the Beatles played Shea stadium I was living in Prestwick on the Ayrshire coast. We didn't even have telly at our house. My gran couldn't afford the license. Telly licenses are still required in the U.K. but pensioners get a reduced price these days

I wonder what they were thinking knowing that they were playing to 73 million viewers which was a massive audience at the time. John was cool as a cucumber. Paul and George super cute with their "woo"s and Ringo just the coolest cats behind them

I saw the Beatles live in San Francisco 1964 and a girl down in front passed out so security tried to bring her up and over the corner of the stage to get her out of there and she miraculously came to just as they cross the stage, grabbing anywhere for a Beatle hahaha. She couldn’t though and they hauled her away

Top selling musicians of all time. The Isley Brother's version was also a cover by the way. The song was basically an adaptation of La Bamba.

There is a funny story about recording of this song. The beatles recorded their first album in 24 hours And when they came to the end of the album, they realize they had enough room for one more song . But john lennon said after Singing all day That his voice was shot. He said I could not sing the damn song I just screamed it. But Admitted it turned out to be a pretty cool song.

They always would save this song for last, because john would usually shred his vocal chords.

Typical of the Ed Sullivan show to screw up the sound. They had no idea how to get good live sound for a rock band in those days. John's mic is set way too low. Ringo's drums are just bleed over from the vocal and audience mics.
John always said he could not sing this song so he just screamed it. They would do a very short version to kick off shows live or do it as the last song as it ripped John's voice to threads. The studio version they did two takes and used the second one. It is why his voice is so raspy and it had to do as there was no more time left anyway. They never had a day off for years during the height of Beatlemania. They recorded their first album in one session that ran over 13 hours straight. It proves what a tight band they were from playing endless sets in Hamburg, Germany for years before that.

They had to give up singing live as they could not hear the music because of the screaming.
