I always told my husband that this is the song I want played at my memorial, little did I know what life held for me. I played this by my husbands hospital bed as he was dying and again at his memorial, it was such a profound moment as the song played, with photos of his incredible life . I could feel his presence. He was truly a gladiator, defying all life handed him. 💔
Life gives us these blows and no one prepares us to endure the pain. I'm just going to tell you that it won't be the last time you see him. God delivers us to death but he gave us hope in Jesus Christ. In it all will live what they believe.

Listening to this and I feel my daughter with me. She was only 7 when she died, after battling a brain tumour for 6 months in 2017. As I said my goodbyes in the final minute of her life, I knew she was going somewhere special. I can't wait to see her again when it's my time. I miss you my beautiful Lily 💜

Thank you for these beautiful words. We had my brother's memorial service today, and like your brother, mine also was a gladiator with his challenge. Listened to this on the way to the funeral and now at home crying tears of love and joy. Thank you again for writing this.

Just watched the Gladiator and I must say this movie is so amazing that its still better than most of the big budget Hollywood movies , even until this day , and I shall never forget the emotions i went through while watching this movie . Hands Down one of the greatest Soundtracks I've ever felt . Gives me hope.
Probably the greatest piece of music in the modern era, this song and movie means so much to me. Nothing for me can compare to this masterpiece of art in both music and cinematography and will always truly be number one. It resonates with so many people and this is something to be cherished as we probably won't have anything so beautiful produced again due to time.
Yes brilliant music. Brilliant film. Brilliant acting. Whilst Russell Crowe was the star of the film, J,Phoenix was excellent. You really hated his character and he portrayed it excellently.
Sure...and beautifull soundtrack and movie...only the real version went difderent...the gladiotor trained the emporor who was put against fight to other gladiors but the emporor gave bold sword's who werent sharp to fight against him...his sister betraided him and so the gladiotor who trained him found out and killed him in his room with a not bold sword, his sister was banished and later murdered bye the new goverment, same as the gladiotor.... The classic story was more a drama then the movie version....only trust youre commanders they will fight and die with you...is what his father said The classic family who cannot be trusted....his sister costed him his life...and in the end here own
Cada vez que la escucho, me hace recordar que la vida es corta, que debemos batallar mientras tengamos aliento, despues todos nos volveremos a encontrar por la eternidad, hay que vivir como hermanos
I think that period between 2000-2005 was so great for this kind of epic historic drama movies, like Gladiator, LOTR trilogy, The Patriot, Troy, Alexander, A Knight's Tale, Kingdom of Heaven, Master & Commander, Last Samurai, etc.
I completely agree. That specific period in the American cinematography was simply spectacular. An unbelievably number of remarkable period pieces were produced during that time.
I am from central Italy, all my family too. I remember going to Rome almost every weekend with my parents when I was a child, and I remember my father telling me about ancient Rome. He was so passionate about it. He clearly felt a deep connection with our ancestors. Now I am 24, I don't want to sound exaggerated, but I get emotional everytime I see something about ancient Rome. I feel a deep connection with my cultural ancestors too. I love studying and learning about them. And I feel really proud. So that's movie and its soundtrack are gold for me, it literally makes me cry. Saluti from Italy, the birthplace of the Empire. ❤️🇮🇹
Agreed. It reminds me of the friends I've lost. They've taken the journey, even though they were young. We'll see them on the other side and tell them what we saw...
I was 10 yr old when I watched Gladiator with my Dad. I remember always repeating the part where the soundtrack plays in the movie. Still listening to it now in 2022 but without my hero. Miss you Dad ❤ #GreatestSoundtrackInTheHistoryOfMotionPictures
My thoughts are with you All. I lost my Dad, Mom, and Brother. Music such as this, releases our pent up emotions. Gospel music does the same. Go ahead and cry, cleanse, release it all. Then celebrate. They are all Resting in Peace.
One of the most beautiful soundtracks in the history of cinematography. It totally expresses the sadness of each character. Love everything about this movie.
A few days ago i went to Hans Zimmer’s concert in Dubai. I cried listening to this live. I’m back home and I still can’t stop listening to it again. It has a different meaning to me now. Thank you Hans. You are brilliant.
My karate teacher sadly passed away recently and I listen to this and recount the memories of him in my mind and I smile and honour his teachings as he made me the man I am through hours of patience and guidance and I will honour him until the day I die rip sensei ♥
Just read a comment on this song and everyones grief and sadness is different. It brought me abit of happiness to be honest in thinking hope is there and always remember your loved even if you think not !!!!!!!! There's someone who loves you even if you think they don't.. don't ever forget that ...
I have lost all parents before I was 29 and I was very close with my dad, who I was playing a game of golf with one week and saying goodbye in hospital 7 days later. This was a favourite movie of ours. Every now and then I feel like listening to this type of music even though it really hurts. Not sure why that is. Life is hard, life is unfair but always stay positive and cherish the precious moment you get with your loved ones because life isn’t permanent.
It's truly amazing how we can all speak different languages but music is the one language we all understand, I'm reading all the comments and honestly it's hard not to get emotional with this music, I pray for everyone who has lost their loved ones, we will see them all again, but not yet!
I can't think of a better song to play at my funeral. Thank you universe for bringing hope to humanity for bringing this film into existance. A warrior/ Gladiator that leads from the heart is the way to tackle and navigate any challenge and trial. This film reminds me that with honour we will eventually be honoured, in spite of persecution. Our soul loves a challenge. Our heart knows it.
The time when movies taught us boys what it means to be a man. 20 years later I am sitting here with my 6 week old son listening to this incredible music from the movie that taught little boys to be good men.
Personally this film did not teach me what it meant to be a man, i was to young to understand, though after going through so much shit and agony, i started to think more for myself instead of blindly following people. Now i refuse to be chained up, i refuse to pretend to be someone else. I'd rather be alone then be with people around me who wouldn't stomach me because i wont act a certain way. If that is a aspect of what it means of being a man i think i am a step closer of understanding what it truly is.
I wholeheartedly agree with your comment. Just watched this movie for the first time at 27 yo and it was so refreshing compared to all the BS we get today. Anyone know any other movies along this line (i.e. movies that show "what it means to be a man")?
@Dawson Davis I see your point, but thats obviously not what I meant. And yet, I am not the one who insults other people just like that. Apart from that, I also hope that the world will eventually become a better place.
this song makes me incredibly sad. It makes me cry from missing my late girlfriend, soulmate, who passed away Feb 2019. Our last day together in a park, the wind blowing her lovely hair and her peaceful face looking at me with such love and happiness... it was the first true 'slow-motion' moment of my life... the following day she passed away. Far away from me and alone... the scene of this movie where he goes to his wife' and the music playing...tears as im typing this... it is a hurt you can not explain. I admire people who lost their life-long partners and survived through that pain, I truly don't know how you cope...
start to speak with her and tell her she should let u feel thats shes still with u. As in Gladidator if u really want...u will see her again...but not yet.... How do deal with that pain? I have no idea....I had a lot of pain...in me ...and I just can handle it if i accept it that this pain is here...that is life and I try to make best out of it...and if I fail I forgive me... But you are strong as I can feel. U can do it and u will and she will be with u. Love for u.
I listen to this beautiful song for my younger brother who was taken from this Earth 10 years ago, at 24 years old, from a brain aneurysm. He was a true fighter! A Gladiator!! And I miss him every day ❤️ And thank you Hans Zimmer for everything ❤️
Gladiator was one of the movies that I watched with my deceased younger brother and enjoyed alot! I get very sad nostalgic feelings whenever I see this movie playing anywhere! Telling the truth; I leave whatever I am doing and start watching it till the end!
My brother was addicted to this soundtrack since 2003. I remember exactly his reaction everytime we were listening together !. unfortunately he died in 2012 . I can not forget him .... i can not forget this soundtrack.
i suffer from severe anxiety n last few days been depresed n bit suicidal but listening to this has helped my mind be at peace n relaxed. this music is my therapy all those struggling we are together we will fight on and win ❤️
Why are you suicidal? You already get 100 years to live if you lucky then it will be dark till enternity just like the millions of millions people before us. Just live, eat and drink and f**k. Why should you end you live sooner? Be strong in mind and body and enjoy life.
In my opinion the most emotional part is the end...when black man bury the statues of the Maximus family in the Colosseum: "I ll see you again...but not yet...not yet."
To my mum who left me recently...one day hope to be with you again. Meanwhile hope you are in the place where good souls go as you were one of the best.
The whole of Rome will carry him, a general who became a slave, a slave who defeated an emperor, there before Rome's eyes, a leader, a true great leader, had died before them, he could have made Rome wonderful, rid of it's corruption, he could have gone to war and still have his soldiers full support and loyalty, on that day, they lost a true emperor, a true protector of Rome, maybe he did need to go, maybe he did make a difference, but his legacy will last as long as Rome, Maximus Decimus Meridius, Protector of Rome.
He looks down at you right now with a smile on his face, proud of your bravery and waiting for you to come home but indeed not yet :) may God (whoever you believe in if you believe) bless you and your son
I've never seen this film, I've always found Russell Crowe to be the epitome of a douchebag, but I'm curious why everyone has the same comments "but not yet" and are dedicating some mediocre soundtrack music to dead ppl? Am I missing something?
My childrens Dad passed 1/11/23 he wasnt ready, he is my hero always was, always will be, my hero, my listener, my all, i will miss you ❤ jed the hero.... with my ❤
I lost my mother in July 2019 when I was overseas for my postgraduate studies. It was during the time where I was about to complete research thesis where I couldn’t reach to her burial. Since I was the last out of three boys, we formed a truely love bond ever since. She couldn’t let me when she was still fighting for incurable terminal cancer. I was undecided but she told me to chase my dream. I dearly miss special motherly love that only you could give. We would one day shall meet each other.
My husband died in an accident this August 1. We watched this movie together. He was only 48. I love you and miss you so much, my love.. my youngest son is just 12..he misses his dad so-so much.. it’s heartbreaking for me watch him going through so much pain..
Played this incredible soundtrack bringing my grandad back from London to Wales many years ago. He was in his late 80's and I asked him if he had ever heard of the film Gladiator and he said he had not. I played the entire album on the long journey back to Wales. I remember after the first track played he said turn it up louder. I remember that trip with him and it always reminds me of him and how much he enjoyed hearing this brilliant soundtrack. We listened to it twice in a row! 9 years since he left us but I always play the entire soundtrack on this special day 🙂
Here's to those still listening to this in 2024

Thank you for these beautiful words. We had my brother's memorial service today, and like your brother, mine also was a gladiator with his challenge. Listened to this on the way to the funeral and now at home crying tears of love and joy. Thank you again for writing this.
My thoughts and prayers to you and your family
Your brother must be at a beautiful place.

My wife passed away on the 28th Dec and I shows one song that says everything that was the bomb tree from the movie Australia
one day i will finish this movie without crying
But not yet, not yet...

"A General who became a Slave, Slave who became a Gladiator, Gladiator who defied an Emperor.' What a line! Goosebumps!

Yeah well, I could not stand that POS show Spartacus. Made me want to puke. Garbage through and through.
What we do in life echoes in eternity "wow"
Yes
Sure...and beautifull soundtrack and movie...only the real version went difderent...the gladiotor trained the emporor who was put against fight to other gladiors but the emporor gave bold sword's who werent sharp to fight against him...his sister betraided him and so the gladiotor who trained him found out and killed him in his room with a not bold sword, his sister was banished and later murdered bye the new goverment, same as the gladiotor....
The classic story was more a drama then the movie version....only trust youre commanders they will fight and die with you...is what his father said
The classic family who cannot be trusted....his sister costed him his life...and in the end here own
i lost my wife after 22 years, this song reminds me of her
I think that period between 2000-2005 was so great for this kind of epic historic drama movies, like Gladiator, LOTR trilogy, The Patriot, Troy, Alexander, A Knight's Tale, Kingdom of Heaven, Master & Commander, Last Samurai, etc.
All the movies you mentioned men cried watching.
True I wish there were more epic movies like them
I completely agree.
That specific period in the American cinematography was simply spectacular.
An unbelievably number of remarkable period pieces were produced during that time.
@@shahg9218 your right i did cry during after and still after watching alexander but not for the reasons u think .
Troy was not great
I am from central Italy, all my family too. ❤️🇮🇹
Strength and Honor 🇮🇹
Even where I live in Scotland there are traces of ancient Rome every day. 😊
Gloria senatui populoque Romano !
I feel the same with my ancestor Incas I love my culture Im crying right now. GOD bless.

Agreed. It reminds me of the friends I've lost. They've taken the journey, even though they were young. We'll see them on the other side and tell them what we saw...
❤
Every time when I listen to this music I cant hold my tears 😢 So emotional, so touching
I too
I was 10 yr old when I watched Gladiator with my Dad. I remember always repeating the part where the soundtrack plays in the movie. Still listening to it now in 2022 but without my hero. Miss you Dad ❤ #GreatestSoundtrackInTheHistoryOfMotionPictures
So sorry! RIP💜
My thoughts are with you All. I lost my Dad, Mom, and Brother. Music such as this, releases our pent up emotions. Gospel music does the same. Go ahead and cry, cleanse, release it all. Then celebrate. They are all Resting in Peace.
He sounds like a good man
Sorry for your loss. My dad passed a few years ago and I know how you feel. 😥
Alepiohh, now you have an older Brother in Germany. I pray for your father🤲🏻
One of the most beautiful soundtracks in the history of cinematography. It totally expresses the sadness of each character. Love everything about this movie.
Me too!
i think aside from sadness it also expresses closure and freedom
Yeah
Hans Zimmer can definitely be put on a par with Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky.
AMEN
I agree Hans is part of History!! A Master!
Today's greatest movie/game composers are our own historic greats and will be remembered for all time as well
No way man, but he is a great composer
A few days ago i went to Hans Zimmer’s concert in Dubai. I cried listening to this live. I’m back home and I still can’t stop listening to it again. It has a different meaning to me now. Thank you Hans. You are brilliant.
My karate teacher sadly passed away recently and I listen to this and recount the memories of him in my mind and I smile and honour his teachings as he made me the man I am through hours of patience and guidance and I will honour him until the day I die rip sensei ♥

+DutchODSTPro Definitely, this is an exceptional film
True
I have lost all parents before I was 29 and I was very close with my dad, who I was playing a game of golf with one week and saying goodbye in hospital 7 days later. This was a favourite movie of ours. Every now and then I feel like listening to this type of music even though it really hurts. Not sure why that is. Life is hard, life is unfair but always stay positive and cherish the precious moment you get with your loved ones because life isn’t permanent.
No matter how many times you listen to this song, the feelings never change, goosebumps frfr, best piece to this day 💯💯💯
I cried whole time listening to this song while reading your comments guys. Strength and Honor !

Hans Zimmer is the ultimate composer when it comes to movies. He’s in a league no one else will EVER compare to.
This is his as well?
@@shaheenziyard5631 yes. & most good music in most movies are by him.
Maybe Ennio Morricone
Without maybe, it's probably better to say that Hans Zimmer is the closest movie composer to Ennio Morricone

It's truly amazing how we can all speak different languages but music is the one language we all understand, I'm reading all the comments and honestly it's hard not to get emotional with this music, I pray for everyone who has lost their loved ones, we will see them all again, but not yet!

I crave this song like a drug.

Love you man here from Texas, we will get through this together.
So bold, so powerful, so emotional, so beautiful. The composer is a true artist.
Your son is lucky to have father like you to show what means to be man
Maybe u were already that kind of man , just needed a little reminder and guidance, I feel the same
Personally this film did not teach me what it meant to be a man, i was to young to understand, though after going through so much shit and agony, i started to think more for myself instead of blindly following people.
So sorry for all the pain and struggles I'm reading about in the comments. You are all so amazing.
Me too
Amen 🙏
Well done Hazera. Altruism is what we all should attain to.
So are you.. So are you..
Amazing? Why?
this song makes me incredibly sad.

So sad! Too young and too soon. May he RIP.

Ironically, this makes me want to die even more. I don't know why.

Why are you suicidal? You already get 100 years to live if you lucky then it will be dark till enternity just like the millions of millions people before us. Just live, eat and drink and f**k. Why should you end you live sooner? Be strong in mind and body and enjoy life.
The fact that this song is written in an imaginary language makes it so much better.
Still ghost bumps, 10 years of listening..dedicated to my mother and father who passed away last 2020 and 2021

Is Rome worth one good man's life? We believed it once. Make us believe it again. He was a soldier of Rome. Honor him.
The most emotional part of that movie
In my opinion the most emotional part is the end...when black man bury the statues of the Maximus family in the Colosseum: "I ll see you again...but not yet...not yet."
To my mum who left me recently...one day hope to be with you again. Meanwhile hope you are in the place where good souls go as you were one of the best.
Bless her brother. U will see her again.
Hugs for my daddy,
He has metastatic prostate cancer for almost 10 years! He lives his live the fullest. My hero and soulmate ❤

For My Dad... who has devoted his life to me and my Brother.... R.I.P My Dad. See you in Eternity 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
"Who will help me carry him?"
me* jumps toward the theater screen
😭😭❤🙌🙌
The whole of Rome will carry him, a general who became a slave, a slave who defeated an emperor, there before Rome's eyes, a leader, a true great leader, had died before them, he could have made Rome wonderful, rid of it's corruption, he could have gone to war and still have his soldiers full support and loyalty, on that day, they lost a true emperor, a true protector of Rome, maybe he did need to go, maybe he did make a difference, but his legacy will last as long as Rome, Maximus Decimus Meridius, Protector of Rome.

Music from another life....
