One of the greatest anime series out there. The whole soundtrack for Cowboy Bebop is really good, Yoko Kanno is such an amazing composer.
Did I read somewhere that she also has no formal music training? If so, that's pretty wild.

@@patrickvarine8476 No, she studied keyboard since a young age and entered a bunch of composition contests at a young age at well. She took a break and got back into it in college. She's done the music for a bunch of video games as well.
There's very fey OSTs I can throw on in the car and not skip, two of which are Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion who have such great music top to bottom on their OSTs
Yeah! I only have 5 cowboy bebop records and they all are amazing!
That intro is 10000000000 times more effective at getting me to subscribe than instructing me to press any myriad of buttons.
I came for a tank react I hadn't seen and subbed for that muzik hat intro
Yoko Kanno is one amazingly brilliant artist. That woman mastered music on a level that only few have reached. It seems she's at home in all the genres somehow, like to her it's all just one language, and she speaks every dialect or something... Tank! here is a great track, "Inner Universe" - the title tune of "Glost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex 1" is another must hear in my opinion. It's more electronic and artificial (which, of course, is just perfect for THAT series), but then has this beautiful voices singing... *Goosebumps*. (Also Ghost in the Shell is one of the best real SciFi series, period)
And "Moon" - a tune from her soundtrack to "Turn-A Gundam" (one of those series about giant robots kicking each other's metal asses) is pretty much *guaranteed* to have me in tears. Simply, because it's so beautiful. I never learned music theory, so I can't explain it, but she does something with the harmonies in there that turns me into a sobbing blubber each time. La la looo!
@Eric Mc2022 Oh yes, it's a pity. Origa had a beautiful voice and when she worked together with Kanno the result always was something special.
And - yes, "Macross Plus" was my first Yoko Kanno experience as well.
It seems that in Japan she moved from "composer of music for animated series" to "overall highly regarded composer" too, which is well deserved. At least I interpret her writing a piece and playing it at the inauguration of the new Japanese emperor like that.
Or he simply was an animee fan as a kid, who knows. :D (I'm 51 and it's kinda strange seeing niche or underground bands from my youth becoming "culture" like that... See Kraftwerk, Laibach or Die Einstürzenden Neubauten ^^)
I also like the game music she was in charge of producing (Nobunaga's Ambition)

One of the GOAT Animes of all time definitely Top 5 and Intro is amazing

You know, I'm always nervous spending money on good stuff. Recently I bought a 'supposedly-excellent' pair of Razer headphones for work (I'm an audio transcriber). Most times it's as good as people say it is, but every time I hear a crackling on one side or flipped surround like yours, I kinda overreact, like, DID I JUST SPEND $50 ON HEADPHONES THAT CAN'T TELL LEFT FROM RIGHT??? You know, like that... LOL
