- One of my favorite songs from the OU812 album and, in my mind, a luminous example of the depth and totality of Edward Van Halen as a musician, not only a guitar hero. This cover is an instrumental recreation where I am playing synthesizer and bass guitar in addition to the guitars. All that is missing is the Red Rocker’s voice and those backing vocals.
Joe Meyer joins me on drums remotely in this video, tipping his own hat to that Alex Van Halen groove so vital to this beautiful and powerful song. For a "Drum Cam-only" version of this video, click here: • “Feels So Good” Van Ha...

Heading into Winter 2023. I'm hitting this again.... just because. That's how awesome it is!
Thank you, Jimmy! 🙏 More videos in the works, and I hope you’ve seen some of my recent ones as well.
Thanks for this great tribute! I have been playing this track over and over again, enjoying your superb skills. I miss Eddie so much. He was such a versatile but humble musician. Van Halen was a big part of my teenage years, and I love OU812. You and Joe Meyer have done very well to honor this legendary rock band. Thank you.
This makes me very happy to read-thank you very much for watching and for your beautiful words. Joe and I wanted to highlight exactly what you wrote!
Best cover in eons, brought joy to my evening .....
That is so awesome for me to read! Thank you! 🙏
Amazing technique proves Van Halen's greatness.
From Tokyo.
Felt so good 👍
Thank you! 🙏
Nice job, boys!
Thank you 🙏
The great thing about Van Halen is they could write a song that didn’t sound like Van Halen, yet STILL sound like Van Halen 🤷🏼♂️😆✌️😎
Very, Very Good!!!!!
Thank you very much! 🙏
Sensacional!
🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for your love of music, and I appreciate when you play rock songs!
Brian, thank you for watching my video, and for your comment! The rock songs are definitely a lot of fun to do.
Something about this cover that pulled me in, and kept me watching. Beyond the fine playing, something about your video editing style... Color grading? Smooth cuts? Overall ambience? I dunno, but you did it RIGHT! 👏
Thank you very much for your comment! I’ll be the first to admit that I have no idea what I’m doing regarding the editing, color grading etc., but I just go until I find something I like. Great to know someone else liked it as well!
That's Al's T-shirt! I did a search "van halen feels so good" and found this beautiful video just uploaded 5 days ago. Thanks!!
Well spotted! Thank you for watching and the beautiful note.
AWESOME! Just a great job you did on this song, which is one of the more under-rated Van Halen songs in their catalogue, in my opinion. Like you said in the intro.... one of so many musical masterpieces by one of the greatest musicians / song-writers the World has ever known. Edward's talen sometimes gets over-looked by non guitar enthusiasts, just because of the flashy stuff. But he was so much more than that. This song proves it. You ROCKED it, and so did Joe on the drums. Great nod to Alex Van Halen as well. The 2 Brothers changed toe World. They're still doing it, even tho Edward is not with us here on Earth. Killer job!
I’m humbled by your words, Jimmy-thank you so much for watching and writing! I couldn’t agree more with your words about Edward and Alex being far deeper musicians than they are typically recognized. That definitely inspired me (and I think I speak for Joe also) to tackle this song. Some more VH videos are on the books…stay tuned!
@@DeyanBratic Oh wow! Such a nice and awesome reply, and I would LOVE to see and hear more. Your synth sound was amazing- and so was the guitar, drums and bass. Incredible job on the solo as well. You NAILED the tone, which is not easy. Even the attack and some of those little nuiances that only Ed could deliver from that era. Just awesome. I am still hurting that he is gone, and this is the sound-track of my life. So yeah - man that would be so awesome if you could do some more Halen! Check out Mike Conway on drums. AWESOME Van Halen drummer, and another Cat that is hurting from Edward's loss, and doing lots of Van Halen stuff. OK - keep on rockin!! Thank you for your reply, and please don't feel the need to hit me back up. I bet you are busy with replies, and making killer music! I subbed.
“2 brothers changed the world.” I would wear a t-shirt of this saying.
I get lost in this groove. Effortless rendering of an unsung Eddie+Alex
Masterpiece.
I’m very happy to read this! Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words.
Impressed
Thank you for watching and commenting! 🙏
@DeyonBratic you're welcome can u do a cover of Journeys song who's crying now pls Steve Perrys voice is just so awesome and powerful
@@Chib_Alvarez Journey is a great idea! But sadly for me, the strength of Steve Perry’s voice would be lost as I am not at all a singer!
@@DeyanBratic oh my apologies an instrumental cover will be fine if you can
I see. Well I guess that I’ll just have to add it to the LONG list of video projects I have planned. I only hope I can get around to everything! 😆
My favorite van halen song bar none
Very well done! Just beautifully played!
Thank you so much!
Amazing job!
Thank you! 🙏
Fantastic video and performance!! 👏🏼❤️
Thank you for watching and commenting!
you guys sound like the original very good
Thank you! 🙏
Sounds great Deyan...Long time! Hope you are well. You look it! Great job on the tune.
Tim! So great to hear from you-long time indeed! I hope you, Myles, and the family are doing well also. Thank you for the kind words.
Simplesmente emocionante!🇧🇷😎🤘
💜💙💚💛🧡❤💯
Ok - so I know we're all out there thinking 'I could sing this like at karaoke.' Then when you try, it's 'uh, i guess not...'
Truth. And precisely why my version has no vocals! 😆
Great job my friend!
Likewise to you sir!!
Is that drum part not tricky? I thought for years he was playing the bell on his ride. I had no idea it was all hi hat!
I’ve come across several people who also thought the same thing! Joe might answer this one.
It’s very tricky! Alex would use the bell of his hi hat on a few things, “Right Now” is another example of that. There’s little room for error with it because the bell is so small, but it has a cool effect for sure. Thanks for checking the video out!
@Joe Meyer for sure! Feels So Good has always been one of my favorite VH tunes and I think you guys stayed true to it and I like it.
Also check out Joe’s drum cam version (link in description box).
Nicely done , great driving tune ! What model is that Seymour Duncan humbucker?
A good old JB trembucker. I didn’t really like the stock Schaller pickup, so I swapped it out a long time ago. The guitar is a 1983 Kramer Pacer Special.
@@DeyanBratic Thanks man! Is JB trembucker same as regular JB? I mean JB is just a SH-4 , model , right? I do have JB in the bridge in my two guitars. Love it.
Yes, as far as I know. The “trembucker” term is simply to note that the spacing for the pole pieces is to accommodate the string spacing on a tremolo, otherwise they should be/sound the same.
@@DeyanBratic got it! I did not know about that , though! Thank you.
Guitar is way too quiet, bass you can only hear the synth... otherwise it turned out really well 🙂👍
Good ear! My mix was by design, largely using the original OU812 recording as a reference, where the rhythm guitar is buried underneath the keys. Thank you for watching, and listening!
