साधना के लिये स्वस्थ और शांत चित्त की आवश्यकता है। चित्त को एकाग्र करके मन को सब ओर से हटाकर, तन्मयता, श्रद्धा और भक्ति भावना से की गयी साधना सफल होती है। यदि यह सब बातें साधक के पास न हों, तो उसका प्रयत्न फलदायक नहीं होता। कभी भय के चित्र सामने आते हैं, कभी दुर्दशा को पार करने के उपाय सोचने में मस्तिष्क दौड़ता है। ऐसी स्थिति में साधना कैसे हो सकती है? यह स्थिति साधना के लिये उपयुक्त नहीं। जब तक मन सब ओर से हट कर सब बातें भुलाकर एकाग्रता और तन्मयता के साथ भक्ति-भावना पूर्वक माता के चरणों में नहीं लग जाता, तब तक अपने में वह चुम्बक कैसे पैदा होगा जो गायत्री को अपनी ओर आकर्षित करे और अभीष्ट उद्देश्य की पूर्ति में उसकी सहायता प्राप्त कर सके।
