- In this video I show my favorite HVAC service tech load out. I’ve found the Veto TP-XL to be a great option! It’s small enough to be lightweight, but big enough to effectively organize the most essential tools.

I love the load out. I'm a service tech myself. I couldn't afford any Veto and my wife refuses me to get one since she makes more $$$ than me. I bought a $44 Kobalt electrician bag from Lowes, similar to that Veto you have there. It's similar to the CLC 1509. I'm pretty content with the tools bag I have. Thank you. I subscribe.
I love the inner tube with magnet idea 👍 ingenuity at its finest!
I wish they would make a pouch the same size as a TP-XL with a meter pouch on one side and the Drill/tape measure clip on the other. or maybe on one side small holster for the impact. I don't like the belt clip on the Milwaukee M12 impact. but I love the impact perfect size. The TP-XXL is just too big.

That example you used with water definitely made me understand what it was, genius example.
Now, how do I know what my target subcool and superheat should be? I understood your example on how to find out how many degrees of subcool/superheat I'd have, but I assume it'll always be different pressures and temperatures. Unless i should always be shooting for the same pressures and line temperatures for every individual type of refrigerant.
Meaning, should 410a always be at 350psi?
@@HVACLife definitely helped! i actually just changed out my first TXV earlier this week and we were also looking for the 12 degrees of subcooling, i just thought it would always vary, good to know it varies depending on the metering device the system uses.

I have the tp xxl bag I use the back pocket for a set of wrenches I do hvac but I also work on oil burners and anything I hate besides striped screws is the guy who uses ajustable wrench on oil burner fittings and rounds them off. I also like tools and purchased 2 wrenches from hand to rescue
I, too, find that longer bit for service valves to be the best!! Even on the newer equipment, Carrier in particular, the standard bit just doesn't cut it.
Doubling the jumpers, especially for RTUs is something I did with just the regular alligator clip jumpers. Like yo said, 2 stage equipment etc you need it. Do you find the magnetic jumpers work on many units? I bought some, thinking in tight spots especially, they would be beneficial, but I did not find one unit that the terminal block was magnetic.

@@HVACLife Yeah it’s all about finding balance. Depends how you like to run your truck as well. The MCT can be a tad heavy but it holds about 80% of what I need, and then I have a big bag and Klein bags with job specific stuff. I also like keeping my impact inside the bag so I don’t like going much smaller.

@@HVACLife yeah it’s a great alternative to carrying a full wrench set around, I’m going to look for a set of those, might get the most common ones I use (8, 10, 13) as a ratcheting ones

When you use the power probe to pierce the wire do you worry about sealing the hole if exposed to the weather?
Have you seen the Klein flip sockets that go up to 1/2"

When you retempered the small screw driver did you reheat it and quench in water?
I run the same bag brother. The TP-XL is the truth! It quite literally has EVERYTHING I need whether the job is a PM, service call, or any sort of sold estimate work. Mine clocks into right around 20 pounds!
@@HVACLife I used to run the MB3 for quick diagnotiscs, troubleshooting, and service calls during AC season. The Meter Bags are super nice but I agree, there's literally no chance of organizing anything neatly in those bags and it drove me nuts bro. The TP-XL is so much nicer for organization and I like that I can open up the front flap and all my tools are right there! No searching around or digging through different pockets!

For an adjustable spanner that goes a little wider check out the irega 92w 6”. It goes 24mm (+/- 1”) wide instead of 19mm (3/4”)
Channellock has the same wrench, produced by Irega. The channellock 806W-6. Might be a bit easier to come by in the US!
@@HVACLife I use one nearly everyday. Just fit on 15mm compression couplings! Those couplings go on 15mm diameter pipe, and you need a 24mm spanner to turn the nut on those.
When I install I off course use spanners, but when I run service I just carry my 8” Irega 92swo (channellock wideazz 8”) and the irega 92w-6 those two can do a lot off work!
@@HVACLife I’ll check out that snap-on crimper by the way. It’s nice and small. I love my 9” klein but it’s a bit big in the service bag.
@@HVACLife will definitely hunt one down. Ratcheting crimpers are too bulky and I don’t really have room in my tp-xl for the big kleins. My bag is quite full already!
As for pliers and cutters I carry:
Linesman: Marvel mva-200.
Grips: Channellock 430, NWS ClassicPlus 1651-11R-180, Knipex cobra 125, Knipex plierswrench 125.
Dikes: Knipex 74 21 200, Knipex 72 01 140.
Croppers: Gedore 8092-160.
Long nose: Klein Tools D203-6, Knipex 13 81 200.
Crimpers: Klein tools 1005
That’s outside of screwdrivers, clampmeter, my two adjustables, Bosch GO and multiple spanners and bits and bobs. So any space saving tools are great!
@@HVACLife They’re pretty popular, though most technicians (we’re called engineers over in Europe) carry the Bahco 9029 and 9031. I use the Irega’s and bahco’s both. Depends on the bag I grab. I have an OT-MC for installs, TECH-MCT for big repairs and my TP-XL for service and small breakdowns.
I still prefer my shifters over the pliers wrench. The fact that the pliers wrench adjusts with teeth instead of a roll makes it so that it’s either not tight enough or that it’s tight enough but doesn’t ratchet, defeating the purpose of using it.
But to each their own, I own both for a reason, sometimes the pliers wrench is better and sometimes a shifter!

Ever since bahco discontinued production in Sweden, definitely the irega’s/channellocks.
What's the part number on milwaukee light you had, the one you attached a custom made magnet to?
@@HVACLife is there 10 different light modes to cycle through to get to the one you like lol? I like karabiner and magnet on it.
Those are interesting piercing probes. I've got a set of the fluke piercing probes and have at times wished they were longer. When there's a marshalling cabinet full of different instrument loops it's handy to have such lengthy probes. Who makes those?
@@HVACLife Thanks mate. I've got a whole ton of various meters and leads, I'd probably use these with my fluke 789 and the leads I had for their piercing probes. But I've got a fieldpiece SC680 in my little side job bag (my god it's such a great meter - it does everything) and I know those leads would be good for it.

@@HVACLife have you seen that new TP-LC? It's like the TP-XL but a little more compact. I started off with a 5.11 10 moab single sling compact bacpack to carry tools in lol. Now I see myself gradually getting into these vetos. Lol

@@HVACLife I ended up returning the Tpxl and went back to my mb2. The tpxl was to tippy for me. And a little bulk. I'm probably getting the mb3 here soon. The temperature clamps take up the most room for me on any of my setups.. On mb3 I can put them in the back strap pocket. The mb2 was solid enough for me to get in a unit and diagnose it. Then attempt to make one more trip. But that's not always the case when battling these things lol.

Removing the wheel from the stripper kills the purpose of it, on many places you’re forced to use tools that can’t cut into the copper, no matter how accurate you are with your hands. I know, I hate it aswell, but I just don’t care anymore, just do what I am told even if it takes longer time.
