24 year veteran of third grade here. Your room is great. Third graders are still little kids! They mature a lot over the course of the year. The transition from primary to intermediate happens as you go. The content of your walls and bulletin boards will make the room as grown up as it needs to be. Good luck. ❤

I think the colors would be fine for the 3rd graders. It’s funny how all of my previous students would come back to my black and rainbow room, and say they wish their teachers would decorate their rooms. 😂😂😂

Love the video!! Getting hot glue off cinder block is hell, BUT this worked for me: spray it with rubbing alcohol (I used 100% acetone nail polish remover 😅), let it soak for 5 minutes, and then use a paint scraper and scrape it off!!

It's so good to see you back. I've been following you since the beginning. Third grade is quite a change but I found after my switch from kindergarten that I really enjoyed the increase of subject content.

Welcome to 3rd grade! I have been teaching 2nd for 14 years (so I know goals for new 3rd graders). My suggestion is to focus on building their independence and study skills. They are very capable! I use interactive composition notebooks for all subjects to take notes, glue vocab inside and study materials etc. I even use colorful duct tape to color code the notebooks on the spine. It is a great tool to use for preparing for tests. There is a lot more in science and social studies to cover compared to 1st. Since you have lot more content to cover, so really look at your standards, the curriculum you have and tpt resources to create meaningful units of study for your subjects. Your content will dictate your focus boards. Good luck!

I'm moving grade this year as well. I'm saying good bye to 4th and hello to 2nd. 🙂Staying with your color choices is just fine. It is really more about the posters/charts etc you put up, like the science ABC - that definitely shows 3rd vs. 1st. If the bright colors are your thing - Go for it! Love watching your videos - looking forward to seeing your progress as a 3rd grade teacher.

Art teacher checking in! Hot glue can come off with heat but you can also check in with your custodial staff if they have anything special. I've also used glu-gone but some don't care for the oily nature or smell. Having that bookcase by the rug there will turn into a spot for kids to sit. If you're okay with that, you could lean into it and offer it as a flexible seating option. Otherwise, I agree with another comment about putting it on top of your counter. It also might fit behind your table area under the number line. I'll be excited to see what you decide to do!!

About 9 years ago. We had about 75 % of classroom teachers (1-3) move. We were moving into pods (1 teacher from each grade became a pod) I was lucky. I was switching rooms with a teacher. The other teachers had to wait for The teacher to move. We had extra maintenance staff and the upper administrators come and help move all in one day.

What part of Tennessee? I’m a 5th grade teacher in Clarksville.
To get off hot glue get one of the flat staple remover and slide it under the glue and it helps pop off the glue. I figured that out last year needing to get it all off in hopes my room got painted this summer.

@@devontaekelley2729 I love that for your classroom. I saw that you have a system for things they will use at their table since they don’t have desks. I hate desks so I turn them around so they can’t use them. I put a rectangle shallow paper tray to hold their unfinished work folders and one for their pencil bags when not in use. It keeps them from playing with things. I teach 5th grade. They have cubbies for books and book bags. I like your classroom and you are a professional educator and it shows when you talk about your curriculum and how students learn. This is going on my 27th year as a professional educator and I’m thinking of vlogging this year. It’s an important year for education across the board.

Melting the glue is probably the easiest, but if that doesn't work, try using ice to freeze it and make it brittle, so that it cracks off. I also wonder if you could put that extra book shelf on one of your counters. I do that with mine, so that my students are not able to get into what I have on that shelf.
