I genuinely hope he gets a TV show that's all him diving deep into football's obscure history. There's a clip out there of a reporter asking him about long snappers and whether or not they warrant their own roster spot. Bill forgot anyone else was in the room for a solid minute or two as he went into the history of the position. It's my favorite hoodie moment of all time, and he seemed genuinely bashful at the end when he realized he was still supposed to be answering other questions. Lol. Complimented the reporter on a phenomenal question.

This might be the dumbest comment I've seen in a long time. Belichick is not a good Head Coach...he has never been a good head coach. Brady was his success. He has been a Head Coach for 30+ seasons. He had Brady for 20 of those. He had a total of 2 winning seasons without Brady. Also, a mediocre at best football coach doesn't effect other sports in the area. If that's the case, great coaches would also inspire dynasties and I don't remember Chicago having anything with Phil Jackson...or San Fran having anything with Walsh.

As somebody who has watched him build some of the best teams of the century on both sides of the ball, I know that he will be remembered more for his contributions to the game than his failures. That and his weapons being putrid or mishandled. I ranted about Jonnu Smith sucking for 2 years but he's had success everywhere else. We didn't even use Kendrick Bourne last year who is by far the best of Belichick's horrendous receiver pickups. I'd like to say Tyquan sucks but we don't have a QB that can throw the deep ball. Parker can be good but we use him like he's Randy Moss thinking he can win infinite 50/50 balls and its often led to interceptions. Juju has been a total disaster. Same with Nelson Aghalor. Gesicki is good but without competent receivers to create space for him we can't get him the ball. Mac has gotten fucked.

@@elliottpierce9823 The thing about Tyquan is that everytime he gets a nice deep ball from either Mac or Zappe, he drops it, which means he literally can't do the one thing they drafted him for, he's pretty much Limas Sweed 2.0, plus his route running is pretty atrocious. I lost a lot of respect for Parker after he dropped that deep ball in the Raiders game and refused to hold himself accountable for it, and Juju has been VERY bad, but atleast he pinned the blame on himself for the loss against the Commies. Jonnu Smith definitely had a solid year with the Falcons, but it wasn't anything special, so go figure, the man was a HUGE liability when he played for the Pats, as was Aghalor. In regards to Nick Saban, I am not surprised he decided to retire when he did. I do sense he was starting to "burn out", and because he did remember another legendary Alabama football HC legend, who also had sent on to the NFL many wonderful players, like Coach Saban, Bear Byrant, whom, as you have mentioned, having died too soon after his retirement HC Saban got out at the right time.

The fact that Saban got to go out on his own terms gives me more hope for his prognosis. I can't say I fault the 72 year old man for deciding to leave it behind. The real interest to me is Steve Belichick. Dad's protegee who has grown into a solid defensive coach in his own right and is probably ready to be a DC somewhere. I wonder if Detroit, who has had a hard-on for Patriots personnel in the past, may kick the tires on Baby Hoodie. Their defense could use the help, and with dad available to be a knowledge resource, Steve may rise to the occasion.

As a Raven fan, I have been blessed like the Patriots and Steelers to have such a great coach for so long. And I wouldn't be shocked that if we win the Super Bowl this year, Harbaugh decides to go out on top. I know he's only 61 but considering that they may already have his replacement on their coaching staff, and the fact that there could be plenty of openings at CBS, and FOX shortly, it wouldn't surprise me if he wins a 2nd ring, and then decides to go into broadcasting. I also believe that with much he's had to deal with in terms of dealing with injuries, having to overcome the rumors about Lamar last year, and the fact that Jim Harbaugh is returning to the NFL and he might want to be with family more often may also play a big role in his upcoming decision. But if this is indeed his last ride as the Ravens head coach, I will enjoy it while it lasts. As long as Mike Macdonald continues the proud tradition of the Raven Empire, I'm ok with this.

Three men who have been at the forefront football for the entire time I have been paying attention to it are now gone. What a way to end an era in one swift stroke. Pete Carroll orchestrated the first perfect season in college football history: being ranked #1 from opening week to the championship game. It was the first season of college football where I actually paid attention to it week to week.. Saban absolutely crushed all comers and reigned supreme for my entire adult life. My team of South Carolina has only ever beaten one number 1 ranked school in its 100+ years of existence and it was Saban's Crimson Tide. And Belichick was winning super bowls from the time I had just entered middle school until I bought my first house a few years back.
And what a friggin thumbnail. Goodnight, kings. I loathed you when y'all were at the top but I respected all of you nonetheless. Monumental achievements that I will likely never see replicated in my lifetime. I'm glad I was here to witness it.

It is interesting to me that now the two longest tenured coaches in the NFL are both in the AFCN. It's part of the reason the rivalry is so fun.

This is the biggest example of: good things don't last forever. You never know what you had until it's gone. The ride is over, but at least we got to go on a ride at all. - Pats fan

I never thought I would live to see the day where the Bill Belichick era in NE would finally be over. Imo, when i saw that Bill would no longer be the head coach for the Patriots, that truly signaled the end of the Brady-Belichick era for NE. And tbh, I don't know what to feel. Happy that the era that pissed off every single football fan is finally over, or sad that a dynasty that happens once in a blue moon is now a thing of the past.
Right now, i honestly feel empty. I can't be the only one feeling like this.

In an age where coaches and youtubers alike that we are accustomed too, leaving their respective scenes suddenly it reminds me of a Stanza from a poem.
Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay,
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.
