This is a very good documentary. I applaud these men for their bravery. This documentary only solidifies my understanding of human nature though. ISIS did not pop up because of some kids writing graffiti on some wall. Raqqa is a main thoroughfare for oil. The control of this oil is at the heart of this terrible silent slaughter and it would be wise to educate the public to this fact. Raqqa wasn't "Picked" out of a hat, there is a reason ISIS and its financial backers chose this town. Whenever there is a natural resource that can be exploited for financial gain, a few humans will develop a violent plan to control the flow of that resource to the billions of people who will buy it. All this is for profit. Those few individuals will become filthy rich. So who cares if a few thousand men, women and children die getting tortured, raped and slaughtered, it's a fear mongering campaign that has historically yielded results. Show me one single human being that would NOT kill an entire town or even Country for billions of dollars in profit? Not in all of human history has this been the case. I have NEVER met a human being that chose being poor over being rich, even at the expense of other people's lives.

I haven't seen the film but I already wonder, is our viewer empathy of their understandable heartbreak and strife going to soften our own steadfast attitudes toward mass importation of ideology - specifically, any illiberal ideology that's held dogmatically, that threatens the foundations of our liberal democracy?
