By far my favorite moment of the entire series. Especially the scene before this where Alexis says something amongst the lines of: "Why can't they just admit they were wrong. Why can't they just say sorry." Which triggers this apology. So good.
Kate knows by now Castle is no longer there just to do 'research'. He's already in love with her and she knows it. She's trying to deny her own feelings for him but he's slowly winning her over. Kate's jealousy really started to show in Season 2 but she later hooks up with Demming and breaks Castle's heart. Castle's only way to compensate is to show up with a 'bimbo on each arm', which he would give up in a heartbeat to be with her....

No, but the thing is...it planted the seed for her to go, and resume that hunt. Not alone, but with Castle himself. And he was the one, that was solely responsible for it. No one else.
