Maybe they really didn't know just how bad it was or did they just not care until it became a PR issue. Either way, either option is not acceptable. He says in the original video " this will change your perception of first person shooters forever" and he's right. I played some Call of Duty MW2022 that night and paid close attention to the kill cams when normally I skip them... Usually when someone is using hacks you can tell right away (blatant aim bot, shooting through hard walls, etc). This was common in Warzone 1.0.
    But now in MW2022 I noticed in a few games when I was using the Ghost perk, Dead Silence, suppressed weapons, that some top players seemingly always know where I am. Experienced players will look to choke points or common hiding places as they're coming around a corner, but this wasn't quite it. Several different games I'd watch someone's kill cam and see that they were looking exactly where I was through multiple walls before entering an area, and even pre-firing me before it made sense to do so.
    I even tested one guy by doing weird things like laying down in the middle of wide open areas in a way that was very unusual. He always came into the area knowing exactly where I was - every single time. Probably about a quarter of MW2022 games I played that night had at least one "suspicious player" that would kill me a couple of times in a similar manner.
    I even had a teammate that I was following doing strange things like this. Entering multiple areas at dead sprint without any regard for caution, then suddenly looking at the next area in ADS and firing just as he got line of sight of another player. We didn't have a UAV or anything. I reported him for cheating because there's no way he wasn't.
    It has totally ruined the game for me. Now I'm watching kill cams, looking for any sign of cheating, finding myself yelling "that's bullshit!" when I die a lot of the time, even though most of the time it ends up being legit. But it's planted a seed of doubt in my mind, and I have noticed actual cheaters with this. It's frustrating because I play on Xbox, and until crossplay with PC became a thing you absolutely never saw cheaters on Xbox Live. I wish I could turn crossplay off and go back to enjoying myself.

      Yeah unfortunately CoD is one of the worst, I absolutely refuse to play that shit though tbh Tarkov ruined FPS games for me long before that video, the concept behind tarkov is fucking un-parrelled and I can not play standard FPS's anymore. I tried hunt showdown, had some fun for a few weeks and then got bored now I'm back to ARPG's and shit.

    • @otterplays8156
      @otterplays8156 Před rokem +5

      I practically abandoned FPS games a couple years ago, I thought Halo infinite might have breathed new life into my favorite genre, but alas that died a death from lack of content plus a complete lack of anticheat.
      I just play PvE/Co-op games exclusively now, but I saw the Goat vid the other day, I'd stopped playing Tarkov when the 5th map was added, but thought I'd see if the vid was bait, and once I saw the leaning I was not at all surprised. Well a tad it was truly that bad on Tarkov, but the leaning itself? I used to see this on Rainbow Six Siege, if I suspected a cheater I would try to bait a prefire and stare through the wall and tilt like a "go for it, you're blatantly cheating and we won't win this match", step out and get plinked. I would then watch a match replay and sure enough, they would see me leaning and taunting, and they would by instinct, do the exact same.
      Developers either need to hardware ban (which to be honest won't stop as I've read they can be Serial number masked?) and maybe AI to detect blatant cheat %'s
      I remember when EA had "FairFight" Anticheat in Battlefield 4, EA stated that the detection could see anomalies in K/D, accuracy etc, but the countless times lobbies had some guy spin botting with a sniper rifle was ridiculous, nothing happened, ever.

Now, that doesnt excuse the cheating nor network problems, but what alot of people seemingly, genuinely dont umderstand, is that game studios (or any large project) are made up of multiple specialised teams; Lets say bsg employs 200 game devs, if they wanted to focus 100% of their resources on cheating, that doesnt mean they assign those 200 employees to that project, since only a small subset would have the skills to do anything about it: You can't tell 3d artists to 'fix the netcode', because they're not network engineers. Anyway, I really, really want bsg to get their shit together, because there will never be a game like tarkov ever again, noone else has both the money, vision, and passion to create a niche game like this.

      Edit: I also don't get what you mean by its in beta... it is in beta, but its also early access, which means what we are seeing is what they have barring whatever is being developed at the time, it would make literally no sense to with hold game play features, especially when people are constantly starving for new content. • @flankspeed007
      @flankspeed007 Před rokem

      Follow the money. Is cheating bad for game companies? No, unless it gets bad enough to effect sales. When it gets bad enough to be talked about/effect sales they react and do the bare minimum to shut the community up. "Shut up and buy our product...Now get excited for next product!!"
      But overall they don't care because a cheaters money and a regular players money is all the same to them. Don't believe me consider this, which do you hear game companies really trying to stop Piracy or Cheating? Piracy right, Denuvo and all these anti-piracy measures you hear about all the time. Piracy is lost sales, cheating is not.
      But cheating? "Oh we banned people, see!" "Oh we putting easy anti cheat into the game." They do the bare minimum. Because stopping cheating takes time and money, and gives very little benefit to the company. When was the last time you heard a game company get credit for stopping cheaters? When have you recommended a game to your friends "oh you should buy this game they work really hard to stop cheaters." When was the last patch notes you saw where they bragged about their anti-measures, if there wasn't a scandal going on? Anti-cheat measures don't sell games.
      It sucks I know. But they are a business. Businesses exist to make money. Unless cheating costs money, they would like to do nothing. Long answer I know, but that is why they are reactive. There is no money, or very little money in being proactive, so they aren't.

    The end summed it up perfectly and it doesn't apply to just cheating, the fact of the matter is the majority of people have no idea if/when they're dying to cheaters or how much it really affects their game, most of the time its just a catchall for people who are frustrated or ignorant, but the answer is incredibly simple, if you are no longer having fun with the game take a break and go play something else until its in a place where you will have fun with it again. You should also temper your expectations for anti cheat, Tarkov certainly has a lot of room for improvement but its never going to be perfect either, there is simply no such thing as a popular multiplayer game without cheaters and there never will be

      Well we've seen this with games like cod and apex legends, there was huge influxes of cheaters in those games too but they managed and the situation is controlled right now. Sure you have the odd cheater running around but it's NOWHERE near as bad as it was before. This is all we ask for for tarkov, we know it is simply impossible to completely eradicate the problem but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try your best to contain them to a small group instead of letting them form a large mass which has happened now. I imagine this is waaay harder to contain if there's that many of them instead of just having an odd cheater here or there.

      Just as a disclaimer I think bsg does have a cheater issue and they can do more about it, but something else to keep in mind is there's no rank/matchmaking system in tarkov, its a game in development that mixes people who have 8000 hours with others who have 8, its like throwing a master playing in apex into a silver lobby, most of the people there are going to call them a hacker, that combined with all the issues that arise from it still being in development, things like desync, the bad sound, the invis player issue they just fixed the other week, a TON of people who think they're dying to cheaters just aren't

      3 types of cheaters:
      RMT farmers
      RAGE winners
      Advantaged casuals
      RMT is usually easy to figure out based on their trading history, boss kill counts, etc. Hard to prove without hard captures of them watching things through walls or if they use aimbot etc. to kill bosses/other players.
      RAGE players always get caught, they get manually reported enough they don't last long till they roll a new account.
      Casuals are the ones who use esp/radars and have a lot of information "we" don't have and sure they might slip up and get caught looking through walls etc. but they tend to not be aimbotting just using a small cheat to get that advantage on other players to help them be on top. They will still lose some fights so very hard to catch them without a detected hack.
      Detecting hacks themselves is getting harder and harder, average hacks get detected pretty quick but "good" hacks run on separate hardware devices and are near impossible to detect.

      The problem with "Red Orchestra" and related games is that they're primarily community-hosted for the most part. Therefore optimization networking-wise cannot be guaranteed to be stable.
      "Authoritative Servers - Dumb Clients"-architecture really only works on more centralized-hosting, which pretty much has to be done by the devs themselves.
      Done properly, you'd really only have problems in extremely pings / latencies.
      "Heroes & Generals (1)" and "Drunken Wrestlers 2" are two fast-paced action-titles which had this architecture properly implemented.
      Then there are of course all the slower-paced-games where this architecture is pretty much a no-brainer, something like say "Entropia Universe" that also has the "One World"-architecture to eliminate "shards" and manual-server-selections
      ( and especially server plus region-locking accounts and characters ).
      Special mention to "Firefall (the year-2013-non-"release"-version)" which also allowed "server / lobby-hopping" especially with the "BOING!"-addon (by "vDepth").

      It's certainly nothing like say "Killing Floor"-games with "whitelist"-servers
      ( I.E. the servers where they only use maps and mods that abide the rules to allow normal-account progression;
      otherwise they are "sandbox"-servers where all progression and achievements are disabled.
      It's the same-kinda-thing in E.G.
      "Deep Rock Galactic" (a listen-server-game) where you have
      "Verified (cosmetics);
      Approved (houserules, addons, and only makes achiements disabled);
      Sandbox (separate-save-file)"-mods.
      Currently in EFT there only is the player-matchmaking per "raid".

    The wildest bit about the dylhero situation is that the clip it was all based on was bloody obvious it was desync/weird interaction of his model with the door frame. Wild.

      its like people dont know that what you see and the other person / server sees isnt always the same xD

      it is insane to me that the dylhero clip even got the go ahead to send to bsg, the people reviewing these clips were supposedly tarkov veterans with thousands of hours played.... this kinda stuff proves otherwise and is really dissapointing.
