Thats pretty wild. Idk if I would want a home like this unless its significantly cheaper. Also makes me wonder if insurance on this kind of home is any different than a normal 2x4 and truss.
@@FullSteamDesigns How do you mean? Built better? (Not trying to argue with you, or be rude in any way shape or form just asking for a little more detail, hard to tell the tone in text sometimes)
I like it but I feel there is a new reliance on tech that's done ON PURPOSE to make skilled trades obsolete , if we put together premade houses wheres the need for craftsmanship, math , carpentry etc ...younwill be able to hire joe schmoe off the street with no experience weve seen what happening with all.the " new" people in trucking ..i'm all for it but beware
Maybe the tradespeople are the ones making it obsolete. Have you seen how poorly built modern construction is? Low quality materials aside, there’s a huge lack of pride in the work done.
@FullSteamDesigns Bro anything with a name like "Advantech" is blatantly some startup that does the typical overselling and over application of an otherwise decent idea. The stuff isn't *just* laminated OSB. It's more like each individual piece of OSB fiber/wood chips were laminated so it has more thorough water resistance. Genuinely seems like a substantial improvement over standard OSB. Great for subfloor I'd imagine, but don't try to build the rest of my house out of it. It's water resistant OSB, not a miracle material.
I hate to hate but building a house out of plywood is kinda stupid
Uhh well aside from the fact that houses are already built from plywood, this isn’t plywood. Like I said, it’s Advantech.
It’s literally particle board.
@@ellisdylan007 no it isn’t.
Idk man it’s pretty sturdy
@@FullSteamDesigns It's OSB with a resin layer. Stop playing like it's that crazy.
Do you know if it’s a cost savings? Or what benefit it serves? Other than perhaps some of the ease of construct ability you had mentioned
SIP panels do this, but much more efficiently...
Ok

I doubt it’s cheaper. It’s built significantly better than a timber framed house.

It’s a nice setup and tho kinda reminds me of those ikea shelves
Never looks like shit
What?
If that thing catches fire. It’s gone quick
As opposed to every other wood frame home in North America?
Ok
@@theonlyalexoliveira have you ever lit a piece of osb on fire? The sheathing is osb on my house, not the entire structure.
How long does it last? What about strength? I’m all for it but I’d be curious to talk to the companies engineer on a podcast
Advantech itself comes with a 50 year warranty.
@@FullSteamDesigns we have stick frame houses that have stood hundreds of years. 50 years isn't at all confidence inspiring

Like 50% waste and the workers gain zero skills minus using an air nailer...
That’s incorrect. There’s very little waste.

How old is the oldest buolding made this way? If its less than 60 years we're still learning if this is a good idea
Ok
@@FullSteamDesigns it might be OK but you didn't answer my question. Or address it in any way
I agree with this guy. We should never try anything new and definitely don’t show it until you have decades of data on it.
@@TodaysCraftsmen if that's what you got from my comment then you're being stupid on purpose
House made of particle board. Jesus Christ.
It’s not particle board.
@FullSteamDesigns Its OSB which is similar to particle board. OSB with resin. Pretty damn similar.
@@joshdiehl8737 no it isn’t. You really need to look both of them up. You’re confused about what particle board is.
