Hear, hear to self-seeding plant varieties! I delay any seasonal weeding so that I can identify their seedlings. I often lift them to place elsewhere- garden editing, as you've aptly said 😊

I count on my self-seeders! I don't know the proper names but cleome, tall ageratum and verbena are always welcome. Sometimes they require a little thinning or repositioning but free plants?? Bring them on😂

I am a big fan of self seeders too, a good and free way of getting extra plants and I also like to pass them on to neighbours or friends. I have a Jacobs ladder and I get so many seedlings from it. I love the foliage it has.

Aquilegias are really good, what I've noticed with the yellow one though that it tends to dormant after flowering in dryer, sunnier places, and all in all the foliage doesn't stay as fresh as in the more common varieties, which stay nice and green all the way to fall. Lovely flowers though, so well worth growing, but looks better if there's a foliage plant in front of it.
My favourite self-seeder is the golden tickseed, but it needs full sun and dryish soil, otherwise it may flop. And it really seeds it self, prolifically!

    Thank you for that information.
    Well presented as usual.
If you could repeat the name at the end that would be good. I get sold on a plant then have to rewind to write the name down. Just a suggestion.
You are my favourite person to watch talk about plants.
All the information I need without any waffle but still a real love of the plants.

I’ve always hand weeded. I get so many self seeders. Meconopsis cambrica in yellow and orange are the most prolific.

Bunium Feruliacium, is that cow parsley? Grows in the ditches here in Ireland everywhere. Sure sign of mid summer. I love it. In fact I love self seeders in general. They tend to grow in places where I can't get anything I actually plant to live.

I love aquilegia yellow queen and i grew some plants from seed, however as they grew, (about 3 months old) they started to die off. Not sure if i had them too wet too dry. Any tipe please Rosie? Thank you :-)

Centaurea Montana is a great self seeder. But in my garden, many perennials that are supposed to self seed do not. I have about 30 aquilegia in my garden. None of them self seed. Whether it's double flower or the wild type. Same thing with Verbena Bonariensis or all agastaches. Maybe it's my clay soil, I don't know. But Knautia Macedonica does self seed which is great, so does Eryngium Planum. I wished oregano self seeded too, especially Thumble's Variety, but not it does not. I would be great to fill gaps between taller perennials.
