  • Spotting the ISS and DEMO-2 Dragon SpaceX 30 May 2020
We spotted the ISS or International Space Station at 11:11 PM or 23:11 European, Dutch time here of course thus in the low lands, The Netherlands. The moon was half visible when we spotted the ISS coming from the west at 16 degrees above the still twilight horizon. A great sighting of the space station, for a low degree pass by. Now the space craft with two American astronauts on board! But we did not see that, at least not that I could detect. The DEMO-2 Falcon space craft from SpaceX or NASA would have been even lower at around 10 degrees or maybe lower and thus very hard to see at such an early hour for the summer solstice, well close to June 21 anyway.
Still, glad we had a good sighting. Enjoy! Nice satellite heading north as well and maybe a UFO or shooting star or two in the footage as well!

I FINALLY FRICKING SAW THE ISS.
I assigned a day for when the Iss will be really high up in the sky and when the day comes I was waiting excitedly for when the time when the ISS appears in the sky, when the time comes I excitedly rushed outside the house and look all around the sky, around when it rises and when it sets. I saw that the sky was cloudy and was worried that I wouldn’t be able to see the ISS. there was until 7 mins until the ISS disappears from the sky and there was 2 mins remaining, I lost all hope that I would able to see the ISS and depressingly going back to my home. BUT THEN I FINALLY FRICKING SAW IT, a bright star moving really fast, I was soo happy that I finally saw the ISS, I was only able to see the ISS for a few seconds since it vanished through the clouds but it was still wonderful. I will try to see more of the ISS when it will flyby through my area and hopefully its not a cloudy day and will able see the ISS for a minute or more.

It is hard to understand. I totally agree. That said, if you place a small mirror on a mountain, the reflection from the sun can be seen miles away. These satellites 🛰 are up in our outer atmosphere and have no obstructions, so we get a fully illuminated view of these largely metic objects.

Satellites are normally fired into orbit in a easterly direction. They do this to take advantage of earths rotation, which I assume means it takes less fuel and energy to get into orbit. I saw them pass over while i was at work at Hyannis Airport, Massachusetts. Came straight over my work! Dragon was just as bright as the station!
I think Dragon was departing the station, because it was behind it, maybe 20 miles or so. (From the ground it looked like was about 1-1/2 - 2 inches behind.
Looked like it was chasing after the station! Lol
Weather was clear, perfect time of the night, Moon didn't interfere. It was all perfect.
