  • In this video we walk you through, step-by-step, the making of a Love Knot bead.
Love Knots can be used as any other bead to make earrings, bracelets, necklaces, or other items of jewelry. You can combine them with different beads, or you can make jewelry using only Love Knot beads.
We love the simplicity of the Love Knot and just how easy they are to make and use. We also like the way they can be slipped into so many different designs to add a new and interesting design element; an element that you can say you made yourself.
To make Love Knots you need only
    • wire, 18 gauge (1.0 mm) in this example
    • a round mandrel, 5 mm or 3/16 inch, (we used a knitting needle)
    • a pair of wire cutters (we are using flush cutters because it gives a cleaner, or flush, cut)
    • Chain nose pliers can be useful but are optional
    • We also used some steel wool to clean the wire (000 or 0000 will work).
For those of you who prefer something you can have right in front of you while you work, we have a written tutorial available, for free, you can download from our website:

And if you are looking for ideas on what you can make with your newfound, Love Knot making skills, we have another tutorial that covers using Love Knots to make earrings, a bracelet, and a necklace. It is available here:

To learn to make Wire Wrapped loops as we used in the video to attach the Love Knot bead to the ear wire, we have a free written tutorial you can download here:

And we also have a video on our CZcams channel that shows you how to make wrapped loops.

Thanks. Once you start making Love Knots, it's hard to stop. You always end up with more than you planned, which means you can throw together an extra pair of earrings or a bracelet. I like to mix wire colors.

The last time I did anything I would consider to be "slughtly interesting", I was scolded by a teacher and sent to the principal's office. I have since reformed and avoid anything that might be even be slightly slughtly.

Great tutorial! What size of mandrel would you suggest for 20 gauge wire?

    • @homestrungjewelry610
      @homestrungjewelry610  Před 2 měsíci

For 20 gauge I would probably stay with the same size and keep the 4 wraps per coil and see how it looks. If it seems too "floppy", you can try a slightly smaller mandrel but it can get a little hard to manage if you go too much smaller.
If you jump up to 16 gauge, you can use the same size mandrel, but drop down to 3 wraps around the mandrel for each coil.

Hi, I really like this, can go with anything. You mentioned cuff links as an example. Would you perhaps consider to do some cuff links, and perhaps other items for men? I ask as there is really nothing out there, you being a man might be able to come up with some great items. If a question is not asked one will not know the answer, so I put it out there. Thank you for you videos.
