Pfft, you just don't understand the quality, the other glass could only withstand 27 direct targeted hits with a sledgehammer before making a palm sized hole, ESG security glass on the other hand withstood far less punishment and across its entire area with no clear focus, its clearly superior.
The scientific method is secondary when considering the quality clarity of the glass and its ability to withstand less than its competitors.

On the first "not very tough glass"
Safety glass is supposed to break to absorb the impact and prevent you from getting hurt. It doesn't make big shards but sticks tiny bits to a plastic sheet so you won't get scratched.
It's safe for the person crashing into it, not for whatever is behind it.

that's it! now we need a house with walls, floor, roof, door, and furniture to be tough glass
Tough glass as in actually tough would be something like
alon in the outside and as its transparent metal you can very its thickness to have total protection up to what ever you want
Then a layer of polycarbonate to slow down the bullet and batch it if it was to bust through the metal
A layer of glass behind that so you know something serious hit the window
Then another layer of Alon followed by one more layer of national poly carbonate on the inside so its more temperature insulated for cold weather
Tho im not a ballistics expert nor a chemist and defiantly not someone that even knows what layers of what should go where to make even remotely functional bullet resistant glass
I say resistant because bullet proof is not a thing there is bulletproof upto X caliber traveling below Y speed, but nothing is actually bulletproof against everything and thats ignoring rail-guns that will happily punch through multiple skyscrapers to hit a target the other side
Because a mobile vehicle bulletproof against that means the vehicle survives what was inside it is now a single atomised gooey mess that needs hosing out before it can be used again not to mention it would be a good kilometre or two away from where it was

This stuff is meant for jewelry store display cases and so on where anything around it is likely made out of steel. This is also why getting his hand inside is enough to count as a failure: doesn't take much more room to grab the contents.

Seems pretty tough to me. If you're breaking in something you don't want to make loud noise for long. One crash might not get you caught, but multiple would definitely draw attention. Besides, there's much better ways to break into a house or building that won't make noise.
