CP3 didn't reach those heights at peak, not saying he couldn't have, just that he didn't.
It's my view that had OKC ownership/management been wiser and more willing to spend, the KD, Russ, and Harden trio would have eventually gotten back to the finals and won at least one title....
I think the way things happened for them and with Bron's move from Cleveland to Miami, the players lost trust in ownership and started looking out for themselves.
I think these three players would have been a great match up for The Warriors trio of Steph, Klay, and Dray.....
At the time The Warriors had Barnes which sort of game them a quartet but The Thunder had Ibaka which sort of evened things out.....
I think both Russ and CP3 are great players.
PG more of a traditional pg like Stockton and Russ more of a dynamic playmaker/athlete like a Fat Lever or Stevie Francis...
Usually it's best if your pg is the #3 or #4 offensive option.....no matter how great they are.

His apex, peak, was superior to all those you just mentioned. But your taking a man who was done by the time he only was a handful of years in the league. Combine his success, but extrapolate it over a 14 year career, finals appearance, multiple conf finals appearance, carrying a team, records ( and yes I'm not gonna just disregard a man accomplishing the most of anything), and avg a triple double for 4 straight seasons, and then doing it again on a franchise that wad decimated but you carried to playoffs.

CP3 is 38 and starting for PHX. Russ is 34 and his last 2 teams have made it very clear that he is more impactful on the bench. Lakers and now the Clippers had to minimize his role for the success of the team.
Chris Paul is 38 and has blown 5 2-0 leads (most in history). Russ is 34 and blown 1 against the team with the greatest regular season record in NBA history.

And even then Statistically CP3 was a better shooter and more efficient and a better playmaker compared to Russ in the series against the Blazers his stats are terrible 32% from 3 and 36% from FG and averaged almost 5 turnovers a game in a 5 game series.

He has been injured and dealt with a lot in terms of team drama but he has been a MVP candidate when healthy the last 2 years while Russel has been riding the bench. Russ was on the lakers and couldn’t even help Lebron who was almost a scoring champion… make the playin.

How to schematically lock down Chris Paul
1. Keep him away from midrange, Chris Paul is a master at calling for the screen and getting to mid range or closer and shooting a fadeaway or passing it for alley oops in his clipper days . Fight the screen,go over, stop the midrange shot you make him pass it out to his center or take a tough fadeaway. You stop that it's 80 percent of Chris Pauls game.
2. Throw different defensive schemes at Chris Paul. If he penetrates double him and make him pass out. Keep as much offball pressure on him as possible give him no way to grab the ball. When he passes the half court line put pressure on him immediately he's flustered like that I see Alvarado do him like that all the time. We all know that 9/10 whatever team Chris Paul is on hes the lead playmaker/floor general, you get the ball out of his hands the offense will be forced to play different.
3. These things have never been implemented because has never been the number 1 scoring option on a team (like Russ) so really no one doubles or focuses this much on him. Marz failed to point that out

I'm sure there's heaps more I can find

Westbrook is a better volume scorer and volume playmaker, Rebounder, but he isn't more effective/proficient at anything compared to Chris Paul.

This is a dum argument because if I was to ask who's his top 10 point guards, I'm 98% sure he would CP3 ahead of Russ.
Lets pretend CPS and westbrook both get 10 assists in a game. The difference is that westbrook will get his and turn the ball over 5 or 6 times, CP3 will turn it over 2 or 3. If westbrook scores 30 points it will be on like 35-40% shooting. If CP3 gets 20, it will be at around 50%. Westbrook will play hard defense only after getting burned. CP3 will just do it.
Aside from rebounding, theres always a weird asterisk around each thing russ does well. I can't say that about CP. But he plays hard so I tend to ignore it. You don't see people put it all out there like russ and i appreciate him for it.

Watch the Rico Hines runs at UCLA in Summer 2018 with Westbrook, CP, Harden, Paul George, Siakam, Austin Rivers, Seth Curry etc. Chris Paul looks like a JV player compared to Russ' talent. CP is a better floor general, but even in that department Russ is one of the most underrated passers ever.
